Part 1:

Peg: There comes a time when you realize that your father is maybe not the biggest or smartest guy in the world, but he's just a man just doing his best. That's part of growing up, and you've been dealt some very serious things to deal with beyond your years. Your father may not seem as different as you think he is than most?

Michael: When people don't do what my dad says, they die.

Peg: What, he gives them the evil eye?

Michael: No. He has a guy who shoots them -- that's his job. I'm not making it up. I grew up with bodyguards all the time. I -- I never really thought about it, or how people act around my dad -- scared. I -- I thought it was cool, but now --

Peg: But now, what do you think?

Michael: Jason told me that killing someone doesn't just take away their life, it takes away part of you.

Peg: You don't know you did that.

Michael: But that's how it feels -- like there's a big hole inside of me. It -- and that's how it's always going to be from now on. Always.

Peg: Oh -

Sonny: You and Jason are forgetting who we're dealing with here. The Zaccharas massacred an entire family because they took Johnny in when he was a kid. He -- they were no threat, they didn't know who he was. It doesn't matter to the Zaccharas. That's how they live, that's what they understand. What do you expect me to do?

Max: And if Johnny can't deliver?

Sonny: I got to get my son back. 24 hours -- if that doesn't happen, there will be blood spilled!

Johnny: I just wanted to tell you that I'm sorry for leaving you hanging waiting for me.

Lulu: I have been so worried. I -- I thought so many awful things. Where are you?

Johnny: It's not important, but you're here with me helping me through it. I'd have called sooner, but I didn't have access to a phone.

Lulu: Why?

Johnny: I only have one phone call, and I'd rather not spend the time explaining things that I can't control or understand. I just wanted to hear your voice.

Lulu: Johnny --

Johnny: And to hear you say my name the way you do -- like it's something forbidden.

Lulu: Are you -- are you in trouble? Why didn't you call someone who can help you, why not Trevor?

Johnny: I doubt Trevor would lift a finger to help me out.

Elizabeth: Marianna, you're working here?

Marianna: Hi. I just started.

Mike: Hey, you two know each other?

Elizabeth: We met once.

Mike: Yeah? Well, I -- I think she's amazing. No, wait, that -- Spinelli would come up with something a little more descriptive than that.

Marianna: "Spinelli"?

Mike: Yeah, Spinelli.

[Marianna laughs]

Mike: He's part of the local color. I mean, look, he's a great kid, he's got so much stuff going on in his brain that's always spilling out all over the place. Oh, speak of the devil -- anyway, I was totally swamped, and suddenly there was Marianna. And she -- she jumped in and helped me right out.

Marianna: No, it was nothing.

Mike: Oh, come on, you saved a drowning man. I mean, she wasn't excited about getting back in the business, but I wasn't above groveling.

[Elizabeth and Marianna laugh]

Spinelli: Sorry.

Mike: Oh, yeah, go ahead.

Spinelli: The Jackal requests a sub rosa conference with senior sir on -- on a most urgent matter regarding his little grand-dude.

Mike: "Sub rosa"? Okay. Spinelli.

[Marianna chuckles]

Marianna: Listen, I just wanted to thank you again for helping me out the other day -- you know, giving me medical attention. Because I didn't -- I couldn't go to the hospital because of my situation.

Elizabeth: Yeah, of course. Did you get that all cleared up?

Marianna: Yes. I am so relieved, thanks to Ric. And I'm just so grateful to have a job, you know, any job.

Elizabeth: You know, Ric knows a lot of people. I'm surprised he didn't set you up with something that you actually want to be doing.

Marianna: Well, I don't know what that is. And when I figure it out, I just want to do it on my own.

Elizabeth: You know, I think I stood exactly where you are right now and said the exact same thing to Ric. I was a waitress here when I met him, and he was living upstairs.

Marianna: Really?

Elizabeth: Yeah. A lot's changed since then.

Nikolas: No, this is --

Robin: Nikolas, you're okay. It's time to let go. Come on.

Nikolas: No! No, please -

Ric: No, no, I don't need the restraining order for myself. No, I need it for somebody else -- a woman who's being abused by this guy. Yeah, he showed up in town and he's -- he's threatening her. I just want to make sure that she's okay. No, I don't -- I don't want her to know that I'm -- I'm doing this. Well, because she's either too proud or too scared to accept my help. You know what? Never mind. I'll -- I'll hire a private agency, thank you.

[Ric sighs]

Marianna: With the pig.

[Marianna and Elizabeth laugh]

Elizabeth: That's funny.

Marianna: I know.

[Elizabeth laughs]

[Door opens]

Lulu: You can't call me and tell me you're in trouble and then say that there's nothing that can be done about it.

Johnny: It'll all work out the way it's supposed to.

Lulu: What do you mean, Johnny?

Scott: "Johnny"? You're supposed to be in there talking to my son out of a coma that you put him in, and you're on the phone with your new boyfriend?

Johnny: Lulu, are you all right?

Sonny: Did you say "Lulu"?

Jason: How'd it go with Mike?

Spinelli: The senior sir didn't immediately recognize any of the pernicious peddlers. I told him to continue studying the names and the faces, as the grasshopper had a video to show his master.

Jason: That -- that's Michael.

Spinelli: Yeah. Um -- the little dude is running, it -- it seems, in fear, in the direction of the piers.

Nadine: It's for your son, remember? You're doing this for him?

Nikolas: Uh --

[Alarm]

Patrick: He's coding, get the crash cart. Andy, get him ventilated with the ambi bag. Get that epi now. Expose the chest.

Nikolas' voice: I want to go with you.

[Music plays]

Marianna: You're so funny.

[Marianna and Elizabeth laugh]

Mike: Well, it looks like Marianna has made a new friend. That's good to see.

Ric: Yeah.

Mike: Yeah -- especially someone who knows this town and all the people in it.

[Marianna and Elizabeth laugh]

Ric: Hey.

Singer: You take me

Ric: What's so funny?

Singers: Far away

Singer: That's how they

Sonny: Whew. I give you one call to talk to Trevor to negotiate the release of my son, and what do you do?

[Sonny snaps phone shut]

Sonny: You call your girlfriend, Lulu. You have a death wish, and, you know, I -- I have no problem making that happen. If you're of no use to me to get my son, then that means that you're of no use to me at all.

Johnny: If you think I'm going to start begging for my life --

Sonny: Okay, first, you -- you grab my son from somewhere --

Johnny: Don't hold your breath.

Sonny: Now you're taunting me.

Johnny: For the last time, I don't know a damn thing about your son.

Sonny: Okay, first of all, you're not this brave, and you're not this stupid. You want me to think that you're crazy, that you're sitting here on your ass drawing music all over the walls with no care in the world like you've been in a padded room your whole life. What you want me to think is that you're losing it like your old man.

Johnny: I'm done wanting you to think anything.

Sonny: No, you're done when I say you're done. Let's go. You want crazy? Make me wait much longer.

Scott: You're supposed to be in there talking my son out of the coma that you put him in.

Lulu: I was talking to him.

Scott: But you got so excited you had to share it with your mobster boyfriend? Johnny must be so happy that you eliminated Logan from the competition.

Lulu: No, it was not like that.

Scott: Let me tell you something. If my son dies, if he turns into a vegetable -- I don't care if you're Luke's daughter -- I will prosecute you.

Lulu: You already took my mother, you rotten bastard. You stole her life.

Scott: So that's what this is about? You want to destroy my son's life because of something you think I did to your mother? Well, let me tell you something. I lost that war. I'm not going to lose this one.

Lulu: After all the horrible things you've done to my father, you're still trying to find ways to hurt him.

Scott: Me hurt your father?

Lulu: Yeah. You know what? And it's actually amazing that you would accuse me of anything after the fact that you killed Rick Webber and let the whole world believe it was my mother.

Scott: I was -- nothing would've changed if I came forward.

Lulu: Maybe she wouldn't have lost her mind.

Scott: No, it was too late for that, Lulu.

Lulu: All those times that my brothers and I needed a mother to talk to, to give us advice, to be there for us -- we never had that. We will never have that because of you.

Scott: The reason why you didn't tell your father is because you know that he would've ended up in Sing Sing for killing me. So you -- you just took matters in your own hand -- you took my son.

Lulu: Well, that would be exactly what you deserve after what you did to my family.

Lucky: You know, I'm here on police business, and I heard they might be getting ready to spring you.

Sam: No, not yet, but I'm fine. I -- I am fine. I may actually have to spring myself.

Lucky: Well, good luck getting away on one good leg.

Sam: What, did you come to see me hobble out of here?

Lucky: No, I came here to help -- you know, create a diversion while you make a break for it, right?

[Sam chuckles]

Sam: Right.

Lucky: You know, if I'd have listened to you from the beginning, if I believed that you got another text message from the killer --

Sam: Lucky, stop, please stop. I gave you plenty of reasons not to trust me.

Lucky: Yeah, and none of this would've happened. I just wish there was some way that I could --

Sam: What, make it up to me? Well, I could -- I could think of a couple ways for you to make it up to me. And don't worry, I'm not going to try and scam my way back into your life. I know that you'll never forgive me for what I did to Jake, and it's okay because I will never forgive myself, either. But you can stop beating yourself up, for starters. You --

[Taps Lucky with cane]

Sam: Detective Spencer, saved my life.

Lucky: Okay, you said "for starters." What else?

Sam: Could you get me a glass of water? You know, you -- you could find out who the driver was in the hit-and-run. That would be nice. Do you have any leads on that?

Elizabeth's voice: I went to Sam's apartment to tell her that I think I'm the one who hit her.

Sam: What, is there something you're not telling me?

[Alarm]

Robin: He's still in v-fib.

Patrick: Get that vasopressin ready and charge 200!

Nadine: Charge.

[Paddles charge]

Patrick: Clear.

Nadine: We're losing him.

Patrick: Get that vasopressin on board, get another round of epi ready. Charge again.

Nadine: Charge.

[Paddles charge]

Patrick: Clear.

Nikolas: This is an interesting place. I bet it gets more interesting once we walk through that door.

Emily: Nikolas --

Nikolas: Don't try and talk me out of this.

Emily: No, I won't. I want to walk through that door with you.

[Music plays]

Elizabeth: Marianna and I were just talking about things we have in common.

Ric: Really? Like what?

Elizabeth: Girl stuff.

Marianna: Here you go.

Elizabeth: Thank you.

Marianna: Nice seeing you again.

Elizabeth: You, too.

Marianna: Bye.

Ric: Hey, look -- um -- Marianna's -- um -- she's special to me.

Elizabeth: Yeah, I figured that out.

Ric: Okay, I'm not going to make the same mistakes as I did with you.

Elizabeth: A customer walked in carrying a purse that set her back probably about six of my mortgage payments. We were talking about accessorizing on a budget.

Ric: Huh. All right, look, something happened to me while I was away, something good. And five minutes back in this town with my father, and I feel like it's all going out the window. So, sorry if I'm a little paranoid.

Singer: Against the world that wished us away

Elizabeth: I hope you can turn things around. I hope people can just change their lives and do things differently.

Singers: Right here and right here and now

[Alarm]

Patrick: Give me 300 milligrams of amiodarone. Clear.

Nikolas: Oh -- what -- heaven? Heaven -- heaven has gargoyles, too? What? I -- now, I would've thought heaven would have better interior decorators than this, I really would, but I guess not. It's okay. It's okay because you're with me.

Emily: It's not heaven, Nikolas.

Nikolas: No?

Emily: No.

Nikolas: So I've literally been living in hell this entire time? Well, that -- that explains the decor.

Emily: Look, you're still alive, but I'm not. This is the place where we shared a life. We shared a secret love. My time's over now.

Nikolas: No. No, it isn't. Hey, I -- I found a way to keep you with me. I'm not going to lose you. Then why did you bring me here?

Emily: To convince you to stay. To remind you of everything that you're going to be leaving behind.

Bobbie: It's not. Yeah, you know what I mean, right?

[Bobbie laughs]

Alexis: Oh --

Bobbie: Oh, hey, Alexis. You know what? I just agreed to pick up another shift, and I was going to put Spencer in daycare.

Alexis: Then you don't -- you didn't hear anything?

Bobbie: Well, if you're talking about the fact that the hospital is chronically understaffed with nurses --

Alexis: Nikolas collapsed.

Bobbie: Oh, God.

Alexis: Uh -- I -- I would've called everyone. It's just there's so much going on here that I didn't have a chance yet.

Bobbie: The tumor?

Alexis: Yeah.

Bobbie: I don't understand it. I mean, they've been wanting to do that surgery for weeks.

Alexis: No, that's what we're --

Bobbie: Why would he keep putting that off?

Alexis: We were arguing about that right before he collapsed. Hey, Spence, come here, honey. Come here, sweet pea. Why don't you sit over here, okay? You want to color? That's a good place to color.

Bobbie: Take your crayons, babe.

Alexis: Okay?

Bobbie: Here you go.

Alexis: Here you go, babe. There -- oh, there you go. You pick them up, huh? There you go.

Bobbie: So what possible reason could he have for not wanting to save his own life?

Alexis: I don't know if it's an effect of the tumor, I don't know if it's because he's still grieving, but he is so fixated on Emily that it's almost unnatural.

Bobbie: Did he say he wanted to die?

Alexis: Not in so many words.

Bobbie: Whew. Well, you know what? I think he's lucky you were with him, trying to talk some sense into him when he collapsed. Because what if he'd been with Spencer, what if he'd been alone?

Alexis: I -- truthfully, it's a good idea that you brought Spencer here, because if Nikolas can -- can see him or -- or have a sense that he's around, maybe he'll realize that Spencer needs him here to take care of him and to love him.

Sam: Thank you.

Lucky: There's -- uh -- nothing new to tell you.

Sam: So that's it? Case closed?

Lucky: We're monitoring all the body shops, seeing if anyone's turned in a vehicle with any front-fender damage.

Sam: Yeah, but if no one's turned anything in yet --

Lucky: We're still working on it.

Sam: I just -- I don't understand people like that. I come across these people all the time when we're taping "Everyday Heroes." They have information, they know something about a crime, they could report on it, but they don't. I feel like that makes you just as guilty as the person who actually did it. And you know what? I can actually relate because I did the same exact thing during the whole kidnapping thing. I just --

[Sam sighs]

Sam: I don't know how these people actually look at themselves in the mirror every day.

Lucky: You know what? You concentrate on getting yourself better, and let us find the person who's responsible for this. If you plan on getting out of here today, I'll just stick around and help.

Sam: You will?

Ian: Sam's not going anywhere with you.

Lucky: She's ready to be discharged today.

Ian: Well, she's wrong. I'm her doctor, and I say she's not going anywhere with you.

Lucky: That's the second time you've said that with me.

Ian: Well, maybe because you're the one acting like a freshman at his first frat party trying to score with the hot coed who's way out of his league. What, were you planning on heavily sedating her to get her around on the hip, huh?

Lucky: What the hell is wrong with you? You're her doctor, not a keeper.

[Phone rings]

Ian: And you can take that to the designated area, sir.

Lucky: Alexis? What is it?

Alexis: Your brother collapsed. I took him to the hospital.

Lucky: Listen, I'm already here. How bad?

Alexis: He's in surgery right now, I'm just waiting.

Lucky: Okay, thanks for calling. Listen, I got to go. I'll see you later.

Sam: That was unnecessary.

Ian: Yeah, but I think part of you really enjoyed it.
