Kate: Neela Llorente?
Maxie: I've been copying Neela Llorente since I was 12. I used to use my sister as a mannequin -- I would pin the dresses on her. Uh -- Neela likes very clean, simple lines, everything finished, precise.
Kate: Meticulous, yes. All right, now name a designer with a completely different aesthetic taste.
Maxie: Chloe b -- her designs are very raw, deconstructed. She's crazy -- "kamikaze fashion" I call it.
Kate: Well, you know your designers for the most part.
Maxie: Yeah, it's the other areas of my life I tend to screw up in. Fashion -- I don't know -- I just -- this is where I belong.
Kate: Maxie, this is more than just a job -- this career that you're dreaming about -- it's more than knowing your Basque from your bateau. You also have to know about history and culture, art and design -- and not just fashion design.
Maxie: My sister was the smart one, but I could learn. And if you hire me, I promise I will dedicate my whole life to this magazine and be available to you 24/7.
Kate: Well, I'm sure your boyfriend will have something to say about that.
Maxie: I don't have a boyfriend -- it hasn't exactly worked out for me so well.
Kate: You're young.
[Knock on door]
Maxie: I'm old enough to know that whatever could pass as love with some guy is nothing compared to what you have -- success in the fashion world.
Sonny: Hi. Hi. I'm sorry, bad time?
Kate: No, we were just finishing up.
Sonny: Ah.
Kate: Well, it's been interesting. I'll think about it and let you know.
Maxie: Ok.
[Door closes]
Sonny: What was that about?
Kate: Me looking at a mirror -- who I was at her age.
Marianna: Oh --
Ric: Look, we knew there was a chance that they were going to find Randy's body.
Marianna: And when the police find out that I lived with him and worked for him, they're going to realize it's coincidence that we were there at the same time!
Ric: Ok, listen, are they going to question you -- probably.
Marianna: And what am I supposed to tell them?
Ric: The truth, ok -- that you walked out on Randy, and that he followed us back to Port Charles. Hell, he could've followed us to the cannery and got caught in the explosion before we even knew he was there!
Marianna: But that's not what happened.
Ric: You did not kill Randy, ok? That is the truth, and that is what you hang on to. You have no reason in the world to feel guilty. Ok?
Marianna: You're wrong.
Trevor: The person who controls the Alcazar waterfront property holds the balance of power in Port Charles.
Johnny: Well, that's not exactly news, Trevor.
Claudia: And you'd be rubbing our faces in it and shouting it from rooftops if you had that deed.
Trevor: Well, soon enough. And then we're going to have to reassess how this family does business. You, for instance, Claudia -- what role will you play, hmm? Maybe it would be better if you were back in Milan with Uncle Rudy, doing the things that you do best.
Johnny: I don't like the way you talk to my sister -- I never have.
Trevor: You know, you can push and shove all you want. But everybody who was at the meeting of the five families knew exactly why Claudia was there -- she wanted to do Sonny Corinthos on one of the saloon tables.
Johnny: She's my sister! You are quickly outliving your usefulness here.
Trevor: All right, Johnny, come on, wake up, you're not a kid anymore. This is a business, and your sister's a liability.
Sam: You are unbelievable. I can't believe that you -- you are actually willing to throw your own mother under the bus so you can protect Elizabeth?
Jason: We're talking about proof.
Sam: Proof?
Jason: Yeah.
Sam: Well, I'm sure The Jackal had no problem fabricating evidence for you.
Jason: Ok, and if I really wanted to do that, why wouldn't I pin it on some dead guy, or some guy I wouldn't mind sending to prison? Why my own mother? What would I get out of that?
Sam: Oh -- your mother, Jason? Why wouldn't she stop? Come on.
Jason: Because she'd been drinking. Emily's death has sent her over the edge -- whew -- and Emily died because Diego wanted revenge on me, so this is my fault. If you're looking for somebody to blame, you can just --
Sam: No, go to hell, Jason. Don't act like I am so shallow that all I'm worried about is having someone to blame for this. As if I would ever blame you for Emily's death or your mother for wanting to get numb after she lost her husband and all of her children. Because, let's face it, Jason, you are not much of a son. So, go run to Elizabeth and tell her the good news. And don't worry about your mother -- I'm not going to be pressing charges against her. I would never do anything to hurt her -- I'll leave that to you.
Nikolas: I have an idea that I'd like you to work with me on to make a reality. I want to set up a program at the hospital in Emily's memory, and I'd like your help, your ideas --
Monica: Why are you really here?
Nikolas: That's -- that's why I'm here, I'd -- I'd really like your help with it.
Monica: I mean, if you think that that's going to lessen the pain, if you think that's going to bring Emily closer to you, well, you're wrong. She's dead, and we have to face that. And -- uh -- I'm guess I'm -- I'm sorry about that because it really -- that was really more about me than it was about you. You, I know, loved Emily more than anything in the world, but you seem to be -- you seem to be coping with it, you've gone on with your life.
Nikolas: No, no, not really. I'm actually terrified of living without Emily -- sometimes I wish I were dead.
Monica: Oh, no, don't say that.
Nikolas: But that's not what Emily would want for me. I don't know, Dr. Quatermaine. Maybe a way to ease your pain is to think about what Emily would want for you.
Jax: You know, from the beginning I've had to make room in this relationship for Sonny.
Carly: We have two children together, Jax.
Jax: He does what he wants, and you go along with it.
Carly: Come on, this isn't about me and Sonny.
Jax: He keeps you on a string -- he even uses your kids to do it.
Carly: Why are you doing this?
Jax: Because from the moment you found out that you were pregnant, I could see that things were going to change. You weren't just giving me a baby, this baby was going to give me you.
Carly: What do you want me to do? Do -- do you want me to hate Sonny now and blame him? Then that would mean that I love you, that -- that would mean that I'm hurting as much as you are?
Jax: Sonny started pouring out the false promises, and you lapped it up --
Carly: This isn't going to bring our baby back, Jax. Nothing is going to bring our baby back, ok? Nothing!
Jax: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Kate: Looking at Maxie, listening to her -- it reminded me of all the sacrifices that people like you and I had to make to reach our goals, the sacrifices that we continue to make.
Sonny: You want to know what my goal is? To have you in my life, and to make sure that it doesn't require any more sacrifice.
Kate: Sonny, I don't want you to blame yourself.
Sonny: I'm not -- I have to blame myself because Michael's my son.
Kate: And he was sold a gun by bottom feeders who peddle their wares to children.
Sonny: He's growing up. He's trying to figure out what kind of man he wants to be. And it makes me think, like, what kind of man do I want to be for you, for the people that I love? You want to know what I did? I made a truce with the Zaccharas.
Kate: Whoa. What did you have to sacrifice for that?
Sonny: What did I have to sacrifice for that? I mean, look, if it means you not living every day of your life in fear? If it means you starting up a magazine, you know, passing on whatever you know to someone like, you know, Maxie? If it -- huh -- if it means creating the next Kate Howard?
Kate: Well, as the saying goes, "careful what you wish for."
Maxie: Time to pay up -- whew.
Spinelli: She speaks in riddles.
Maxie: Well, I bailed your butt out after you got us stuck in that sewer, and then you were so whacked out on chloroform you couldn't even walk.
Spinelli: Ok, I -- I was instrumental in bringing Diego Alcazar to justice.
Maxie: Hmm, you were barely conscious, and if you think that you're going to weasel your way out of helping me now, you can just think again.
Spinelli: Ok, what will -- what will make you consider that this disputable debt is repaid?
Maxie: Ok, I need you to help me sound smart.
Spinelli: Why start now?
Maxie: Aw.
[Spinelli chuckles]
Maxie: Well, I had a job interview today -- not exactly an interview -- I kind of stormed in on Kate Howard and told her how I'd make the world's most perfect assistant.
Spinelli: You, a junior fashionista?
Maxie: Yeah. Why not me? I have the fashion stuff down cold, but she made it sound like I needed to know all this history and culture -- you know, all that stuff I slept through in high school? So you might be a geek and a complete fashion eyesore, but you're the smartest person I know -- kind of.
Spinelli: So now you expect me to provide you with a crib sheet on the more intellectual pursuits?
Maxie: Mm-hmm -- and you can lose the attitude.
Spinelli: My muf--
Maxie: I'm hungry.
Spinelli: Mm-hmm.
Elizabeth: Are you sure? There's -- there's no chance it could be a mistake?
Jason: No, Spinelli has the footage on his computer, you're welcome to see it, but you're not the one who hit Sam.
Elizabeth: Oh, my god. Thank you.
Jason: Oh, I'll -- I'll take the hug, but it was Spinelli who figured it out.
Elizabeth: No, for believing in me, for not giving up when I was ready to turn myself in. I was so afraid I was going to be taken away from my kids -- away from you.
Jason: You're not going anywhere.
Marianna: I hated Randy. I didn't think I could hate someone so much. I even prayed sometimes that he would die, and now he's --
Ric: Hey, look, we all have terrible thoughts sometimes, and sometimes we even act on them, but you didn't.
Marianna: How do you know? How do you know for sure? How do you know I'm not lying to you?
Ric: Because you told me that you didn't, and I believe you. How's that? Come on.
Marianna: I got to go.
Ric: What -- no, no, no, what? Why?
Marianna: I just have to give you time to think, for sure -- to be sure. I -- I don't want you to do anything for me you're going to regret.
Ric: I -- I am sure.
Marianna: Just good night -- for now, ok?
Ric: Ok, for now.
Ric: Huh.
Ric: Hey. Look, I'm really -- get out, ok?
Trevor: Just as soon as you hand over the deed to the waterfront.
Ric: That's not going to happen!
Trevor: Richie, wait till you hear my offer. Bleach kills germs,
Spinelli: You know nothing of the currant or past state of the rest of the world, let alone our corner of it.
Maxie: Ok, so I don't know exactly where Louisiana is.
Spinelli: Well, that, for instance. Louisiana is not just -- it's not just a place. It is -- it is a gumbo pot of cultures -- West African Creoles, Cajuns --
Maxie: Ok, Spinelli, whatever. Why don't you just write down a couple of things that will make me sound smart?
Spinelli: "The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain."
Nikolas: Look, I'm not paying you $10 million unless you can guarantee me that you'll provide me with an unlimited supply of that drug.
Ian: I told you that this drug is illegal in this country. I need the money to grease the wheels, to open the door so I can provide you with what you need. Now, if you keep tracking me down like this, it's just going to raise suspicion.
Nikolas: All right, I'm making an endowment in my fiancée's name that I'll be administering myself, so there'll be a reason for me to be around here.
Ian: May I help you?
Johnny: Yeah, my sister was injured in the cannery explosion.
Claudia: Uh -- I have some stitches -- they still hurt -- and I told my brother that it was normal, but he insisted I get checked out, so --
Ian: Well, that's something normally an intern would handle, but I can make a special exception in your case.
Johnny: Thank you.
Claudia: Yes, thank you, Dr. --
Ian: Devlin.
Claudia: Claudia Zacchara.
Ric: I told you before that I had no intention of selling the cannery or those piers. I'm going forward with my plans to develop the site.
Trevor: No, you're not, and you want to know why?
Ric: Why?
Trevor: Because the police just fished a body out of the water, and you know whose body that is? Marianna's old boyfriend, Randy.
Ric: So what?
Trevor: "So what?" Well, I think forensics will see that Randy was killed by a tire iron, and I am in possession of that murder weapon -- with Marianna's fingerprints all over it. So you think you got a little bit more time to talk business with your daddy?
Lucky: Surprise.
Sam: You don't have to do this.
Lucky: Oh, I haven't even started yet. I'm going to take you out to dinner tonight, and then I was thinking maybe we should go --
Sam: No, lucky, really, you don't have to do this. Turns out Elizabeth isn't the one who hit me with her car. Yeah, Spinelli -- he was able to dig up some surveillance footage. Anyway, it was Monica Quatermaine -
Lucky: Monica?
Sam: Yes, and don't worry -- I already told Jason -- and I'm not going to press -- I'm not going to press any charges. So you don't have to pretend to romance me for Elizabeth or -- or anyone else. You're free to walk away -- just like you wanted to.
Elizabeth: I'm sorry.
Jason: What?
Elizabeth: Well, here I am acting all happy, and I --
Jason: No, no, no, you don't have anything to apologize for, you didn't do anything wrong.
Elizabeth: And neither did you.
Jason: Yeah, but Monica has suffered enough because of the choices I've made. I'm her only child left, and I haven't been much of a son to her, and, you know, I want to help her. I want -- I want her to have hope. I -- I kind of find myself wishing that I can tell her that Jake is her grandson.
[Siren]
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Jason: Jake is her grandson. Elizabeth: Jake would be safer if no one knew you were his father. Epiphany: Your mother's just been brought into the E.R. Trevor: Sign the deeds, Richie. Kate: Maybe you can get out of organized crime altogether.
