Diane
: First of all, there is no such thing as a "person of interest." You are either a suspect or you are not. So the district attorney has no right to demand that you talk with her.
Jason
: Yeah -- I think Alexis wants to discuss Sam's hit-and-run.
Diane
: Tell me it wasn't you.
Jason
: It was Monica.
Diane
: Dr. Monica Quartermaine hit Sam and then just drove away?
[Jason sighs]
Jason
: Yes. She -- she was drunk. Spinelli found the accident footage on some surveillance -
Diane
: Oh -- I don't need to know about that. What I do need to know is how Alexis found out.
Jason
: Well, Monica got into another drunk-driving accident. She went to the hospital and they called the cops.
Diane
: The district attorney would not be wasting her time questioning you about your mother's drunk driving -- unless she intended on using it as a leverage against you for something else.
Robin
: When Kate Howard calls, your phone will ring. You shouldn't check it every 90 seconds.
Maxie: Oh -- do you know how many people would be thrilled to move to Port Charles to work for Kate Howard on a brand-new magazine from the ground up?
Robin
: Yes, then we'd better decorate this nursery before you're chained to a desk answering phones.
Maxie: Do you really think she'll hire me as her assistant?
Robin
: Yeah, I would. Ok, so -- where is it? I was thinking a soft blue for the background and then the trim in the cream color.
Maxie: For a closet?
Robin
: It's a dressing area. And with a little creativity, it's going to make the perfect nursery.
Maxie: Oh, you can't put your baby in a closet.
Robin
: Huh -- Maxie, it has a window and when I take out the cabinets in there, there'll be a lot more room.
Maxie: Ahem.
Robin
: Or we could go a little less gender specific, like a green or yellow?
Maxie: Mm-hmm.
Robin
: What do you think?
Maxie: Yeah. You could really pick any color you want, but it's still going to be a closet.
Robin
: Well, I'm counting on you to make it cute.
Maxie: Hmm, I can make it cute -- even cozy. But no matter what I do, it's still going to be -
Robin
: It's going to be a closet. Yes, fine. It's going to be a nice little space.
Maxie: Would you want to sleep in there? Robin, seriously -- have you thought about how much this baby's going to change your life?
[Knock on door]
Luke
: We're closed.
Claudia
: Either that or business sucks.
Luke
: Well -- we meet again.
Claudia
: Oh, you remember? I'm flattered.
Luke
: You're not an easy woman to forget.
Claudia
: It's funny -- when we first met, I didn't recognize you but now I know. You're Luke Spencer.
Luke
: Now I'm flattered. You are?
Claudia
: Claudia Zacchara. I'm wondering if you might be interested in a deal of mutual exploitation.
Carly: Well, I think Michael's teacher was very nice an understanding.
Jax: You didn't exactly give her much choice.
Carly: I just don't think Michael should be penalized if he's going to make up all the work he missed. That was my only argument, ok? That's all. Oh, my feet.
Jax: Carly, it's not like he was on a ski vacation.
Carly: I know that you think I'm being too lenient, ok, so thank you. Thank you for backing me up. I appreciate that.
Jax: I just want Michael to straighten out, that's all.
Carly: Hey, he's going to be straightened out. He's going to see Lainey, and then hopefully we can -
Mercedes: Ahem. Um -- this came in two minutes after you left.
Carly: Oh.
Jax: Thanks.
Carly: Thank you. I like packages. Who do you think this is from?
Jax: Carly, please wait -
Jason
: I -- I want you to represent Monica, ok? I want you to make sure you do whatever it takes. I don't want -- I don't want her going to jail.
Diane
: Defending you and Sonny is one thing. Drunk drivers are quite another.
Jason
: Ok, she promised me that she was going to get help.
Diane
: Ok. Yeah, let me see. Um -- she's hit rock bottom. She's had enough. She plans on turning her life around -- etc., etc., etc. Drunk drivers say that all the time and sometimes it's even true. But in this case, if it's not, then maybe a tough sentence is exactly what your mother needs.
Jason
: No, no, no. She did not start drinking heavily until Alan died.
Diane
: That was not your fault. Jason, what if next time, she hits a child?
Jason
: I -- I just told you she was going into rehab, Diane.
Diane
: Drunks say that, too.
Jason
: Trust me, she has no choice!
Diane
: Oh. Or you will turn her in? Ok, well, that's very commendable on your part.
Alexis
: Why did you call your lawyer?
Diane
: To protect his fifth amendment rights.
Alexis
: I'm not talking to you. No, I was talking to him.
Diane
: Oh, ho!
Alexis
: These are informal questions?
Diane
: Oh, now you're insulting all of us.
Alexis
: Do you know that she's wasting your time?
Diane
: My client has no comment.
Alexis
: Are you trying to be difficult?
Diane
: I am doing my job, which you are also welcome to do by admitting that this attempt to circumvent the law has failed utterly and beating a tactful but hasty retreat!
Robin
: I know that having this baby is going to change my life completely, but I am thrilled. I mean, I -- I can't wait to be a mom.
Maxie: Ok, mom. Well, eventually, your baby's going to want a bedroom, not a closet.
Robin
: You know, this is the size that my apartment in Paris was.
Maxie: Hmm, and if I get this job, I'm going to get to go to Paris. Can you believe it?
Robin
: Well, good. Maybe then you'll appreciate the size of this clos-- dressing area. Anyway, you know, babies -- they don't take up that much room.
Maxie: Oh, really? What about baby books, and toys, and bath stuff, and clothes -- which you better let me pick out, by the way?
Robin
: Of course, I'm counting on it.
Maxie: Your baby's going to need towels and sheets and a crib and a toddler bed and a playpen, some little cars with pedals on them, a bike with little training wheels -- aw.
Robin
: Right, right, but that's years from now. You know, for the first year or so, all the baby will need is food and warmth and me.
Maxie: Hmm. Since you mention it, it's a good thing you're not breastfeeding -- if you ever plan on being naked again. What do you think you're going to do with the diapers? Where are you going to store them? Well, how are you going to dispose of them? Have you seen all those little diaper pails? They're kind of disgusting. I don't recommend it. They smell really bad, but -
Robin
: Oh.
Maxie: Are you going to throw up again?
Robin
: I had no idea that morning sickness would make me this -- sick. Oh.
Nadine
: Dr. Quartermaine?
Monica
: Oh. Than-- thank you.
Tracy
: Well? Oh, what do you want?
Monica
: I'm a drunk. Oh, I never thought I would ever have to admit something like that. It was so easy for me to criticize A.J. and judge Alan when he was addicted to pills. Boy, I've spent my life pushing people away and locking them out of my life.
Tracy
: Monica, are you dying? Should I call Edward?
Monica
: No. What I am doing is going to rehab. And you were right. I did -- I ran over Sam McCall.
Tracy
: And why didn't you admit it?
Monica
: I don't know. I don't know. Because I'm a drunk -- I don't know. But there's no need for you to keep blackmailing me. You and Luke can move back into the house. Maybe I never should've thrown you out in the first place.
[Monica sighs]
Tracy
: I'm glad you came to your senses. I'll have the lawyers take care of the drunk driving.
Monica
: No, Tracy -- no. No, I am going to take responsibility for what I did.
Luke
: What kind of mutual exploitation are we talking about here?
Claudia
: Oh, something we'll both enjoy.
Luke
: I'll be the judge of that.
Claudia
: Hmm. Didn't you just have a coronary?
Luke
: You know, so far, one of us isn't enjoying this.
Claudia
: Well, don't even think about lighting a stogy, Spencer. I have no interest in watching you keel over.
Luke
: At least until you get what you want, right?
Claudia
: You're a legend in this town, you know that? You know all the right people -- and most of the wrong people, too, like Sonny Corinthos.
Luke
: Oh. We're back to him, huh?
Claudia
: I did some research but I need some information. I need more.
Luke
: Well, let's don't waste my time and my energy with what you already know.
Claudia
: I know Sonny came to Port Charles to run a strip club -- the paradise lounge.
Luke
: Good research.
Claudia
: And that you have been close with him ever since you knocked off Frank Smith. That's one of the reasons why he invested in your blues club back in the day.
Luke
: Back in the day? It wasn't that long ago.
Claudia
: He was a silent partner, right?
Luke
: Yeah, well, he wasn't as silent as he should've been. We parted ways.
Claudia
: Completely?
Luke
: What do you want, Ms. Zacchara?
Claudia
: I was just thinking maybe you went to Sonny looking for a job, he turned you down. Or maybe you asked him to back you on this place -- it's a great place -- and for whatever reason, he declined.
Luke
: You're starting to bore me now, baby.
Claudia
: Whatever it was you wanted from Sonny and didn't get, how would you like to pay him back?
Luke
: You're offering to help me with that, I take it? What is it going to cost me?
Claudia
: I need information. I need specifics. I need to know where Sonny goes, what he does all day. I need to know who his allies are, who his friends are, who his enemies are. I want to know how that organization is run and where he launders his money.
Luke
: Well, let's say I could help you. Why would I?
Jax: I'm sorry, I -- I ordered this a week ago and I totally forgot about it.
Carly: It's ok.
Jax: No, it's -- it's not ok. It's terrible timing.
Carly: There's always going to be something that's going to make us sad, you know?
Jax: Yeah. We'll always think about what might have been. We got our hopes up too soon.
Carly: But we're dealing with it. It sucks -
Jax: Huh.
Carly: And it hurts. But you know, we're not taking it out on each other and we're not blaming each other. It just -- it is what it is.
Jax: Yeah, no, we'll get tough this.
Carly: I know we will.
Jax: Yeah. I'll have this returned.
Carly: No, I want to save it for next time. I want to try and get pregnant again.
Jax: You know, you don't have to prove anything to me.
Carly: I'm not. Dr. Lee already said that I could get pregnant. I mean, I will talk to her at my appointment today, but why should we wait? I want to have a baby with you more than anything.
Jax: Yeah. That's what I want, too.
Carly: Great.
[Jax chuckles]
Jax: You never give up, do you?
Carly: How am I supposed to get everything I want? I already have almost everything.
[Jax chuckles]
Carly: I just don't have a baby with you.
Jax: You are the most incredible, tenacious woman I know.
Carly: Today, I'm incredible and tenacious. Tomorrow, I'm going to be stubborn and infuriating.
Jax: Well, I count on that.
Maxie: Anything with ginger is supposed to help -- ginger ale, ginger tea, saltines, sometimes peppermint. It can be just a thought or a certain smell that brings that feeling up, so I won't mention the diaper pail.
Robin
: Ugh, please. Don't. Wow, you really know a lot about being pregnant.
Maxie: Yeah, I did a lot of research when I was faking. I guess the good thing for me is that I wasn't ever really pregnant. I mean, could you imagine getting as big as a barn and having to go throw up in the bathroom every two seconds? Disgusting. Don't get me wrong. I would love the bust line -- just not if it came along with that big fat belly. I mean, all you really have to look forward to is going into labor and then being sleep deprived for the next 20 years, and the stretch marks? Your body will never be the same.
[Robin sighs]
Maxie: I meant all of that in a good way.
Robin
: It's ok. I guess not everyone's meant to have children.
Maxie: Yeah -- like my parents.
Robin
: Oh, come on. Frisco and Felicia love you very much.
Maxie: I'm not going to have this fight with you, again. We're supposed to be focusing on you right now, so is there anything else you need besides a two-bedroom apartment?
[Robin chuckles]
Robin
: I don't know -- a nap? The other day, I almost crawled underneath the table during a staff meeting -- I mean, just for a couple minutes, just to take the edge off.
Maxie: That sounds awful.
Robin
: It was. I would never admit it at work, but those long shifts are costing me more than they used to.
Maxie: Hey, you don't have to be a superhero. You have nothing to prove. Just have the baby and be happy that it's Patrick's.
Robin
: Well, that was an accident.
Maxie: You know what's funny -- if I ever said that to someone, they'd think I was lying that I set the guy up, but you -- you're like Georgie. You guys never had a devious thought in your life.
Robin
: Hmm. I'd like to think that Georgie had a part in all this, you know? Our child was conceived the night of her funeral. She brought Patrick and me together, in a way.
Maxie: I like that. It's like as if, as she was leaving us, Georgie gave us a whole new person to love.
Tracy
: Monica, why admit to something nobody can prove?
Monica
: Well, for starters, you and Luke have been collecting evidence and spreading it all over town.
Tracy
: Doesn't mean we're going to take it to the police.
Monica
: I ran over Sam McCall. I left the scene. I'm not going to pretend otherwise.
Lulu: You hit Sam?
Tracy
: Shh! Not so loud.
Monica
: And if I don't take responsibility for this, I'm just going to end up probably right back here and probably drunk.
Tracy
: Oh, how do you know that? You've only been sober since breakfast.
Monica
: Lulu -- um -- I am going into treatment for alcoholism. But I do want to apologize to you -- I haven't exactly made you feel welcome in my house.
Lulu: Oh, well, I haven't exactly been easy to get along with.
Monica
: Anyway, I'm sorry. And you and your father can move back in anytime you want.
Lulu: Are you sure?
Monica
: Yes. Actually, I've kind of missed -
Lulu: Oh.
Monica
: You and so has Edward, although he would not admit that.
Patrick
: Hey. I'm going to need a minute.
Tracy
: She's all yours.
Patrick
: So, how are you feeling?
Monica
: Ok.
Patrick
: Headaches, blurred vision?
Lulu: So, what was that about?
Tracy
: I'll always believe that my brother could've done better than Monica. However, sometimes -- never mind.
Claudia
: Why not help me with Sonny? What's he done for you lately?
Luke
: Huh. What have you done for me ever?
Claudia
: Things are about to change around here in a big way, Spencer. Siding with me now would be the safe bet.
Luke
: I don't do "safe."
Claudia
: Well, it'll pay off in the long run.
Luke
: I'm only interested in the short run right now.
Claudia
: Because you're a realist.
Luke
: No. Because none of us ever know when we're going to get a bullet in the back, especially you. You see, nobody has ever been able to move Corinthos out of the chuckles and people have tried -- Joseph Sorel, Faith Roscoe, the Alcazar brothers, and you know what? They're all dead.
Claudia
: Things change. That's the nature of the universe.
Luke
: When we first met, you were trying to get Sonny into your bed, figurative and literally. You wanted to work him from the inside -
Claudia
: Hmm.
Luke
: So to speak. Apparently, that didn't pan out for you.
Claudia
: You know what Sonny did? He took my brother and he locked him in a padded cell. And then he threatened to send him back to me piece by piece.
Luke
: Well, then you've just proven my point.
Claudia
: No, Sonny -- Johnny didn't do a damn thing to Sonny.
Luke
: Maybe Sonny was being proactive. Maybe he decided that he would just prove to the punk that -
Claudia
: Hey, don't call my brother a punk.
Luke
: Oh, the lady has a weak spot. That's good to know.
Claudia
: Pick a side, Spencer. Things are about to get real complicated. You're either with me or you're dead.
Kate
: Jax? Having you pop by at will is the best part of this project.
Jax: Well, not exactly at will. Do Sonny's bodyguards pat down everyone or is that just special treatment for me?
Kate
: I'm going to sidestep that one.
Jax: That's probably a good idea.
Kate
: How are you?
Jax: Hmm, that should be the question I'm asking you.
Kate
: I'm doing much better, thank you. So, these are the numbers that you need. Now, we are obviously a few weeks behind, but I have no doubt that we'll get back -
Jax: Ok, before get started on this, I have to ask you -- what happened the night Michael shot you?
Kate
: Jax, I don't want to go into specifics -- suffice it to say, it was an accident.
Jax: Carly and I had no idea he had a gun. We feel terrible.
Kate
: We all do. But don't worry -- I have no intention of pressing charges, but I do hope that Michael gets the help he needs.
Jax: Well, he's working with Lainey Winters, but I'm not sure that's enough. At some point, he has to be held accountable for the choices he's made.
Kate
: Well, I agree in theory, but I think involving the authorities will only prolong the emotional upheaval. I do really think it's best if we all try to -- move on.
Jax: Why don't you? You're not married to Sonny. You don't need this violence. Why don't you move on?
Nikolas
: Is it a bad time?
Monica
: Oh, hi. No, come on in.
Nikolas
: How are you feeling?
Monica
: Well, I've been better, that's for sure.
Nikolas
: Yeah. So, are you ready to hear the details in the program I'm underwriting here at the hospital?
Monica
: Yes, and I'm really sorry I was not in any condition to listen last night.
Nikolas
: It's fine. I understand.
Monica
: So, I gather this is some sort of a tribute for Emily?
Nikolas
: Yes, yes. It's designed to create medical care for people who don't have insurance. We'll do screenings, blood work, walk-ins -- things like that.
Monica
: That sounds great.
Nikolas
: I just can't have this hospital turning sick people away.
Monica
: Well, Emily would really like that.
Nikolas
: Yes. I mean, I plan to minister the program myself, at least for now. I've just been spending too much time at Wyndemere.
Monica
: Here you are, turning your grief into something useful while I am getting drunk and destroying everything that comes my way.
Nikolas
: Ahem. Well, I think that I may have an unfair advantage.
Monica
: Why? What's that?
Nikolas
: I can- I can see Emily.
Patrick
: Dr. Quartermaine is stable, but she needs more blood work and another scan. Excuse me. Hey, I'm glad you're here. We're busy.
Robin
: Before you jump to any conclusions about me being late because of my morning sickness, I was supposed to come in late today. It's on the schedule. I have a life outside of this hospital, and that includes being pregnant. Any questions?
Epiphany: Yes, just one. Mrs. Jackson in 619 would like to go off her soft diet. Does she have your permission?
Robin
: Yes, she does.
Epiphany: Thank you, doctor. Ian: You want to take a look at these test results?
Patrick
: Yeah, is that the cerebral aneurism? Ok.
Carly: Hi, is Dr. Lee in her office?
Robin
: If she has any advice about morning sickness, I could use it. Mine is awful, which I'm sure thrills you.
Carly: I lost the baby.
Robin
: I'm sorry, I -- I didn't know.
Carly: Thanks.
Robin
: Whew.
Patrick
: Hey -- um -- I should've told you.
Robin
: You knew? Why didn't you tell me?
[Luke chuckles]
Luke
: Well, I thought you didn't want to see me clutch my chest and drop to the floor.
Claudia
: Apparently, you're not going to be any good to me dead or alive, so why should I care? Let's have some fun.
Luke
: You're a sai, you know that -- killing me with booze?
Claudia
: There are worse ways to go.
Luke
: Hmm -- and don't I know it. So tell me, beautiful -- who turned you into this train wreck? I can always tell a woman scorned. You have lovely, considerable charms.
[Claudia chuckles]
Luke
: But a woman scorned is too much trouble -- and too much work.
Claudia
: You know, it would be very profitable for you to side with me.
Luke
: Really?
Claudia
: Mm-hmm.
Luke
: Cash upfront.
Claudia
: What am I? I'm not as dumb as I look.
Luke
: Well, then why should I bother? This is not my fight.
Claudia
: Well, it's a question of knowing one's enemies, I suppose. Maybe you're right, Spencer. It'd be a hell of a lot easier and a lot more fun just to make an example of you.
Tracy
: Well, at least you're consistent.
Luke
: Oh --
