Claudia: I'm going to level with you. When my father was in charge, he made a lot of enemies. Now John's running things, and he's dealing with the fallout. It's just a word of caution. These people, they don't play nice. Now if Lulu is around, she could get caught in that crossfire.
Luke: Ok, here's the deal as I see it. Anything happens to Lulu, and your brother is dead. If that causes you any kind of concern, maybe you should go to him and tell him to stop sniffing around my daughter.
Claudia: Why would he? Now, he said she wasn't interested.
Luke: Oh, she's interested. And so is he. Otherwise, why would he invest in this joint?
Claudia: This was a business decision.
Luke: Mainly, but it's also an opportunity for him to be around Lulu. So like I said, you know, I got no trouble taking your brother's money. But if anything happens to my daughter, I got no trouble killing him either.
Claudia: Well. This has been a very enlightening conversation.
Jax: I'm not punishing you for the miscarriage, Carly.
Carly: What is going on, Jax? Then why are you being so distant?
Jax: Losing a baby is one of the hardest things I've ever had to face.
Carly: Yeah.
Jax: Ok. I let the grief consume me once, and I didn't want to make the same mistake again.
Carly: With you and Courtney.
Jax: After Elizabeth lost the baby that she was carrying for me and Courtney, our marriage fell apart. I mean, I gave up on having a baby on my own. Until you came along. You made everything ok. And then when we lost the baby, I could feel myself slipping back into that dark place, and I knew that if I didn't make a conscious effort to move on, that I would lose you, too. And that's -- that's why I've been spending so much time at work.
Carly: Why does it have to be with Kate Howard and her magazine?
Jax: Kate is a friend.
Carly: Oh, you know I don't like her. I don't like her at all. And I hate t thought of you spending so much time with her. I told you so eight different ways, but you're not hearing me.
Jax: All I'm hearing is that you're jealous, which is ridiculous, ok? Kate is a colleague. You're the woman I love.
Carly: Then prove it.
Jax: How?
Carly: You stick her in the annex behind the kitchen.
Jax: Come on, Carly.
Carly: No, I'm serious. She's not taking over my hotel.
Jax: Our hotel.
Carly: Whatever. Our hotel. She's not getting the whole third floor. It's not happening.
Jax: Why don't we discuss it over dinner? I'll bring the plans the contractor drew up and you can make any changes that you -- that you want. Within reason, of course, and I'll even think about leaving space for a supply closet for housekeeping.
Carly: She's not getting the whole third floor.
Jax: Just think about it, ok?
Carly: She's not.
Jax: Think about it.
Carly: I will think about it.
Jax: Now who's being punished?
Sonny: So you push me into making this truce, and I'm thinking you're right.
Jason: Well, I still want to increase security at the warehouse and around here, ok? So we're going to have to find guys from someplace else, because our guys are spread so thin, Sonny. I don't know what to do.
Sonny: Hey. I don't -- things are -- I don't want Michael seeing me surrounded by men with guns, you know? I don't think it's good for business.
Jason: Well, what do you mean? You need protection.
Sonny: Yeah, well, you know what? So do my kids. So I think the way to keep them safe is to focus on the coffee business and keep the mob-related activity to a minimum.
Jason: What do you mean, focus? Are you thinking about getting out of the business?
Sonny: You know that that's not an option. But I am making some changes. And I'm going to make more so I can give people that I love a better life.
Kate: Jax, I'm here. I'm sorry. Have you been waiting a long time?
Jax: Oh, no, it's ok. Can I get you a drink?
Kate: Um, no, actually. I have just enough time to sign the lease, and then I have to get going.
Jax: Oh.
Kate: I have a very important meeting this evening.
Jax: In that case -- Marty? Mrs. Howard's lease.
Jax: Thanks. Uh, and a pen.
Kate: Is something wrong?
Jax: No, just -- I want to make sure it's all in order. Yep, third floor, as promised.
Kate: Ok.
[Phone rings]
Kate: Oh. Hold on.
Kate: Hi, Maxie. I'm in the middle of a meeting, so could -- tonight? I'll just -- I'll call you back.
Jax: Is there a problem?
Kate: The southern distributors want me to fly in and discuss the direction of the magazine before they meet with the advertisers tomorrow. This meeting has been on the books for weeks, but now, all of the sudden, out of the blue, they want me to hop on a plane and drop everything that I'm doing. I just -- this couldn't have come at a worse time.
[Door closes]
Spinelli: Greetings! Oh, my -- um, I've been anxiously awaiting your return. All is -- all is well?
Jason: Yeah. Everything -- everything is good. No permanent damage, no complications.
Spinelli: Well, much to your grasshopper's relief. Um, perhaps -- perhaps you should call the maternal one and share your joys.
Jason: Oh, she already knows.
Spinelli: Oh.
Jason: Yeah, she was actually here waiting for me when I got home from the hospital.
Spinelli: You don't say. That -- that must have been a welcome surprise.
Jason: Sure is. I mean, since you're the only one who knew what time I was getting back.
Spinelli: Ah. Well, um. The Jackal may have mentioned about your impending arrival to fair Elizabeth and, I perhaps even suggested that she be on hand to welcome you back from your medical sojourn. Which has obviously incurred the wrath of the master, so I will save you time and send myself up to the regrettably pink room.
Jason: Spinelli. I'm not mad.
Spinelli: You're not?
Jason: No. Actually, thank you for that.
Father: How is he?
Doctor: We were able to stop the bleeding and repair the damage to his liver. Your son should make a full recovery.
Father: Thank you. Can I? Hey. Hey, Zack, it's daddy. I'll be right here when you wake up, ok? I love you. I'm not going anywhere.
Claudia: I thought you went to find an alibi.
Johnny: I'm a lot more concerned with how this is going down tonight.
Claudia: John, I told you. I got it. Sonny is going to be dead in a couple of hours.
Johnny: You keep telling me that, but nothing more.
Claudia: Have you got something on your mind? Say it.
Johnny: Yeah, I don't like how secretive you're being with this hit. Hiding all the details from me? It's almost as if you don't want it to go down.
Claudia: I don't want you getting blamed for it.
Johnny: Or maybe you don't hate Sonny as much as I do, as much as you say you do. You're the one that slept with him.
Claudia: That's nice.
Johnny: I need to know if you have feelings for him. If you actually want him to live, you need to let me know. I'm not going to like it, but I'm going to accept it. I'm a lot more concerned with you and I being honest with each other than I am with him dying.
Claudia: I'm being honest with you, John. I have every reason to want Sonny dead. With Sonny out of the way, we can take over his territory and expand into Port Charles, and even if he was willing to make a deal, I would still want him dead for what he did to you. Keeping you locked up so he could mess with your head, beat you down. That's something daddy would do. That's something daddy did to both of us.
Johnny: How do you think I was able to handle Sonny so well? Years of experience. I learned that in situations like that, it's best to just have no reaction. You know, shut down and pretend to be calm like I was with dad.
Claudia: You didn't seem very calm when Sonny came into my hospital room and you stuck a gun under his chin.
Johnny: That wasn't for what he did to me. That was for how Sonny treated you.
Claudia: Yeah. That's another reason that I want him dead.
Jason: I mean, there wasn't, you know, much to do while I was waiting around for the operation except lie in bed, and that gave me a lot of time to think.
Spinelli: What was the nature of your presurgical musings?
Jason: Jake. The night he was born. You know, how it felt the first time I held Jake in my arms. He was so -- I mean, he was so small and helpless, and now I look at Jake and I can't even believe he's the same kid. I mean, he is growing and changing so fast, and -- and I haven't been there to see it. You know, I missed most of my son's life, and I realized I don't want to miss any more.
Spinelli: Are you saying that you're -- you're ready to claim little Jacob Martin as your own?
Epiphany: How's the Adams boy?
Elizabeth: Dr. O'Donnell wants to keep him in I.C.U. for the night, but then tomorrow he'll be moved down to pediatrics. I'm sure he'll be discharged early next week.
Epiphany: It's a miracle that that boy is going home at all, considering the condition he was in a few hours ago.
Elizabeth: I think it really helped knowing that his father was out here waiting for him.
Epiphany: It's really gratifying to see that a father is that invested.
Epiphany: 10th floor nurses' station.
Robin: Kind of makes you realize how important a father is to a child.
Elizabeth: Yes, it does.
Robin: Do you ever feel like your kids are missing out in some way?
Elizabeth: All the time. Especially Jake. At least Cameron knows what it's like to live under the same roof with two parents, to have a mom and a dad tuck him in at night. Jake has never known that.
Robin: But he has a father. Lucky wants to be a part of your kids' lives. I wish I could say the same for Patrick.
Elizabeth: Are you having second thoughts about doing this by yourself?
Robin: I know I'm capable of doing it by myself.
Elizabeth: But?
Robin: This child will always feel wanted and loved by me. But what if that's not enough? What if this child grows up feeling like there's something missing in their life?
Elizabeth: There doesn't have to be.
Robin: Patrick never wanted to have kids.
Elizabeth: Maybe when the baby was just an idea, but now it's so very real.
Robin: I don't know, he's made his priorities very clear. There is no room in his life for children. And even if there was, I'm not sure he'd have the first clue about how to raise one.
Elizabeth: There are no perfect fathers. All you can do is hope for someone who will make a commitment to doing what's very best for your child.
Claudia: You know, when daddy sent me to live in Italy, I should've been relieved. I was finally away from all of his madness -- all the yelling and the violence. But all I could think about was you, that you were still here and that you were scared and alone. It killed me to leave you here with him, John.
Johnny: It's not like you had a choice.
Claudia: I was planning on coming back for you. From the minute that I left, I wanted to come back for you. I just didn't think that I had the power to help you. It took me a while to figure out that the way a woman looks, mm -- that's a lot of the power that she needs. You know, not only does being sexy influence men and distract other women, but people tend to underestimate someone who puts their sexuality right out there. They think that you have no brain, that you're stupid, that you're not to be worried about. And when people underestimate you, they're a lot easier to take down. Why do you think that I went after Sonny? I heard that he was messing with you, and I did my research. I found out what kind of woman Sonny likes, and I set out to give it to him. I pretended to meet him by accident, and let him pick me up in that bar. That was part of the plan, John. The way he treated me wasn't. He was insulting and dismissive from the start. But I didn't know all of his weaknesses, so I had to come back with him. You know, I'd come back at him with the same, pretend like I enjoyed being treated like a whore. When it really made me hate him. I had to follow him all over town, pretend like I was being turned on, I was attracted to him, when I really just wanted to spit in his face. There's nothing worse to me than a man that treats a woman badly and pretends that she asked for it, that she wanted it.
Johnny: I hate that Sonny hurt you.
Claudia: Yeah, well, after tonight, he'll never have the chance to do it again.
Trevor: Stay focused, people. We need to find a way to neutralize Sonny Corinthos permanently.
Johnny: Sonny and I agreed to a truce.
Trevor: Only on the condition that those Alcazar waterfront properties stay in neutral hands. But ever since Richard handed them over to me, Sonny saw that as an aggressive act, and he is going to retaliate. We need to strike first.
Johnny: The situation seems stable to me. Why disrupt it?
Trevor: Oh, Johnny. You really let your sister get into your head, don't you? That's Claudia speaking, not you. How many times do I got to tell you? Claudia is only going to be concerned with herself, number one.
Claudia: Oh, yeah? As opposed to you, Trevor, huh? Who has John's best interests at heart?
Trevor: I am simply warning you that we have to make a move, and that move better be soon.
Claudia: How did you ever last so long around here? My father hates cowards. He always has. Were you just too busy hiding in his shadow for him to notice?
Trevor: Claudia, something stinks. It doesn't add up. Because you two should be way mo concerned with this Corinthos situation than you apparently are.
Jax: Have the jet fueled and waiting within the hour. Thanks. So what's the verdict?
Carly: I'll go. On one condition.
Jax: Mm-hmm?
Carly: We don't talk about what's-her-name or her new office space until after dessert.
Jax: Done.
Carly: Ok. Where are you taking me?
Jax: Houston. We can have dinner after my meeting.
Carly: What meeting?
Jax: The distributors there want to meet and talk about the direction of the magazine. Kate was supposed to go and she had something else come up, and I offered to go in her place, so --
Carly: What's so important that Kate can't take her own meeting?
Kate: Your father is going to meet us at the warehouse, so I thought that we could talk on the way down there.
Michael: About you getting shot?
Kate: It's probably a good place to start, Michael.
Michael: I'm so sorry. I did not mean to hurt you. The gun went off by accident.
Max: Ready, boss?
Sonny: Yeah. Listen, when we get to the warehouse, I want you guys to drop me off right in front. Then you guys take the rest of the night off.
Milo: Both of us?
Sonny: Uh, yeah, yeah, yeah, both of you. I'm doing this -- I'm doing this alone tonight.
Kate: You made a mistake, Michael. And what's important is that you learn from it. Picking up a gun is never the answer.
Sonny: Kate's bringing Michael tonight. He knows you guys carry guns and all. I don't want him around that anymore.
Michael: I'm want to work with my dad when I grow up.
Max: I know you don't want a lot of guys around, but you still need protection.
Sonny: No guards. Listen, I want Michael to see for himself that my business is more than just, you know, guns and violence.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Lulu: I want to forget about you, but you won't let me. Jason: I want a life with you. Claudia: Call me when it's done. Michael: I love you, dad. Sonny: I love you, too. [Gunshots]
