Kate: Well, I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited to see how your father's business works.
Michael: Why?
Kate: I -- you know, I'm interested in the way other people do business, right? I know a lot about fashion. I know absolutely nothing about the coffee industry.
Michael: Don't pretend. You and I both know my dad's real job has nothing to do with coffee.
Johnny: You're trying to force me into a war, Trevor. What's in it for you?
Trevor: John, this truce that you brokered with Sonny, it does nothing but give him more time to plan your murder.
Claudia: Sweet. Trevor's worried about you.
Trevor: For god's sake, John. The only way that you can stay alive is a pre-emptive strike. Kill Sonny or he is gonna kill you.
[Telephone rings]
Johnny: [Scoffs] Sonny could have killed me when he had the chance. Not that I enjoy being locked up, beaten, and starved, but if he wanted me dead, I'd already be that way. So your warning? Kinda pointless.
Claudia: Yeah.
Ian: Hello, gorgeous.
Claudia: Where are you?
Ian: I'm right where you want me.
Claudia: Any sign of our friend?
Ian: Corinthos should arrive within the hour.
Claudia: Call me when it's done.
Ian: Will do.
Max: I don't like this, Mr. C. You need a couple of guards around you just as a precaution.
Sonny: Max, tonight is legitimate business. Michael and Kate are going to be there. So what do you want?
Max: Ok, look. I'll be in the background. I'll keep my distance. You won't even know --
Sonny: Max, I appreciate your concern. It's very nice. But you know what I want you to do? Take the night off.
[Knock on door]
Milo: Miss Davis.
Sonny: Let her in.
Alexis: This will only take a moment. I'm sorry.
Max: I'll bring the car around.
Sonny: You know, I don't want to say I'm in a hurry and I gotta go, oh, but I gotta go, so --
Alexis: A dead body was found after the explosion, in the water under the cannery. What do you know about it?
Sonny: Uh, not a thing. But if you got any more questions, can you ask me tomorrow? 'Cause tonight I got important plans with my son.
Spinelli: It is a most auspicious sign that Stone Cold could return home, you know, find Elizabeth waiting and -- and greet her with no fear of danger for her person. If you don't mind me saying so.
Jason: When has that ever stopped you?
Spinelli: Well, I just -- if you could look at the lady of your heart today and not fear for her safety, what's to say that that same thing couldn't happen tomorrow or the next day?
Jason: Ok, what are you -- what are you gettin' at?
Spinelli: I'm just simply commenting on the ebb in mob hostility. Wouldn't the master agree that said ebb might continue, considering, you know, John Zacchara and Mr. Corinthos are keeping their hostilities at bay, which would allow Stone Cold's work to become a little less cold and that new-found warmth would potentially allow, you know, fair Elizabeth and her progeny, namely the young Jake, to walk in the sunlight with you?
Robin: Honestly, you're an inspiration to me. Really, every time I try to doubt myself about raising this child without a father, I look at you, and I see how you do it, and I know that it just doesn't have to be a disaster.
Elizabeth: Well, no one ever knows what kind of parent they're going to be until it actually happens. And then you just do the best you can and you pray. A lot. But sometimes you do want more.
Robin: Is that a general longing or specific to one person?
Elizabeth: Ok, um, between you and me...I want to be with Jason.
Robin: Jason, um, he was my -- I mean, my rock after stone died. He taught me how to love again. I am the first person to admit how special he is. I also know how much his heart broke when he lost Michael, and honestly, I have had to live with that. That he lost Michael because of me.
Elizabeth: But you wanted to keep this baby a secret from Patrick.
Robin: I was working from a different perspective. A perspective that I did not have with Jason and Michael. But now I'm -- I'm really glad that Patrick knows.
Elizabeth: Those things have a way of coming out eventually.
Robin: Jason was a terrific father with a great capacity to love a child.
Elizabeth: I know. When Jason and I first became friends, he had just given up custody of Michael, and I thought lucky was dead. That was our common ground. It was a safe place for grieving for a person you lost. And I -- I would tell myself at least he knows that Michael is safe and alive. But now I realize his situation was so much harder because he had to make a huge sacrifice because he thought that was best for this little boy that he loved.
Robin: I guess that's why I'm meddling. I've just always hoped that Jason would get a chance to be a father to a child or children that need him.
Carly: When did Kate Howard's place in you life become more important than mine?
Jax: Don't put words in my mouth.
Carly: I'm not. We had dinner plans, and now you're telling me that if I want to have dinner with you, I have to fly to Houston because Kate can't be bothered to take her own meeting?
Jax: No, Kate had plans when this came up.
Carly: So did you. Dinner with me, remember?
Jax: You know, most women would find it, uh, a private jet ride and dinner in a restaurant of your choice quite exciting and -- dare I say it? -- Romantic.
Carly: Come on. I don't like being the afterthought. And the point of your trip is for you to do Kate's work. And what is she so busy with that she can't take the meeting herself?
Jax: I don't know! And it doesn't matter. Why can't you just come with me? We can get a hotel room --
Carly: We have children, Jax, remember them? Children.
Jax: And they have a great nanny. We can tuck them in and we can be back before breakfast, Carly.
Carly: After what Michael went through, I don't want to be away from him. And after what we just went through, I don't want to be away from you. So, you call Kate and you tell her to reschedule, or she can take her meeting herself. That you have plans with me, remember? Your wife.
Jax: I love you, Carly. And I've told you every way I know how. But don't give me ultimatums. I don't like them, and it gives you no way out.
Carly: It's not an ultimatum. It's called a choice, Jax.
Jax: Yeah, well, you have a choice, too. Now, you can try to manipulate me into undermining Kate, or you can have a great evening and come with me. So what's it gonna be? Are you coming or not?
Carly: Not.
Jax: Not. Ok, fine.
Kate: Michael, sometimes you think you know things as facts, and it turns out they're not really true at all. Like when you thought you needed to protect your mother and Morgan, and you decided to buy a gun.
Michael: I'm sorry.
Kate: Ok, Michael. I didn't say it so you'd apologize again, all right? You've already done that, and I believe you. I accept it.
Michael: But it was stupid.
Kate: Well, the instinct to protect your family is a good one. We all want to protect the family that we love, the people that we care about. But I think that we can both agree that you kind of went about it in the wrong way, right? Lying to everyone, including your parents, especially your parents. Hiding a gun.
Michael: I should -- I know I shouldn't have left you. I know I should have called 911. But I looked down and saw all this blood on my hands. I got scared.
Kate: I know, Michael. I know. It's ok, all right? It's ok to be scared. Michael, you're just a boy. Like it or not, there are rules for kids that are different from adults, all right? You can't drink. You can't drive. You can't vote. You can't own a gun. But ere is a bright side to everything, I promise you. Because you know what? In the past, your dad's job may have included violence, but that's all gonna change. And you get to be a part of that change.
Alexis: The dead guy was I.D.'d as a Randall Compton. His last address was in Martha's Vineyard, and we have reason to believe that he had connections to Ric's girlfriend, Marianna.
Sonny: Well, that's probably who you need to speak to.
Alexis: No, she's gone. She left town. In a hurry, I might add.
Sonny: I don't know any of these people. I mean, talk to Ric, because I'm sure Ric knows everything, right?
Alexis: Typically, when a dead body is involved, you are, too.
Sonny: Alexis, I don't know Randall whatever, and it's been, you know, a long time since I've been to Martha's Vineyard. Anything that has to do with Ric really doesn't interest me, so...
Alexis: Compton was killed by a blow to his head, which could have been caused by debris from the explosion.
Sonny: It's still not my problem.
Alexis: However, Kate was shot nearby, and the shooter was never found, so is it possible that you got to him first and had him taken out?
Sonny: Shh. I got to say -- there's something I gotta tell you, ok?
Alexis: If this is a confession, you need to call a lawyer.
Sonny: No, this is -- this is not something I would be telling the D.A. The only reason I'm telling you is because you are the mother of one of my children.
Trevor: Don't lose sight of the big picture. Unless you go after Sonny, he's going to take it as a sign of weakness.
Claudia: I think Trevor's got his own agenda. Smells like self preservation.
Trevor: Oh, Claudia, there is one person in this room with an agenda, and that is you.
Claudia: You are hot for my brother to kill Sonny before Sonny can kill you.
Johnny: Now that you own the Alcazar piers, you figure Sonny's gonna try to take you out. Makes sense to me.
Claudia: That would be my plan.
Johnny: One way out, Trevor. Sell me the piers. I'll be happy to relieve you of that responsibility.
Trevor: [Laughs] Unless you really want to talk business, talk is cheap. You know, you'd better have a plan. Because if you do nothing, you're dead.
Claudia: John. Don't worry. Sonny will be dead in an hour.
Jason: You can never leave this business, not completely.
Spinelli: Have you tried?
Jason: Twice. Once I got pulled back in. Once I came back on my own. I got commitments, Spinelli, I can't get out of.
Spinelli: Said commitments need not impede you from achieving familial harmony with Elizabeth and your progeny.
Jason: Ok, I mean, you know, Trevor taking over the piers should have upset the balance of power, but things are calm right now.
Spinelli: That's exactly what I'm saying.
Jason: I don't know. I don't know. Maybe. It might be -- it might be possible to make some changes.
Spinelli: Change is a natural state of being, ok? Permanence -- permanence is an illusion. The cosmos are forever in flux.
Jason: What are you saying?
Spinelli: Your first concern, first and foremost, will always be that of the safety of Elizabeth and her offspring. But, I mean, you have more than proven yourself to the task by your righteous job of protecting Mr. Corinthos' children. Why not apply those same skills to your own family?
Elizabeth: Jason deserves to be happy.
Robin: And so do you. Ok, so do I. But honestly, if the right man came along and wanted to be involved in my life and the child's life, in a heartbeat.
Elizabeth: Ok, so what about Patrick?
Robin: Patrick doesn't know what he wants. And the baby and I are not going to be a test case for him to help him figure that out.
Elizabeth: Well, at least you know that Patrick's job is not gonna put the baby in any danger. You're probably the only other person that gets it. You and Jason ultimately broke up because of the violence, right?
Robin: It was more about how our lives were just going in different directions. And then there was Carly. Of course, you know, where there's Jason, there's always Carly.
Elizabeth: I know, I know. Well, she's not really the problem. If it were just me, I would have been with Jason forever ago, but I -- I just don't want to put my kids in danger.
Robin: Well, it's your call. And if I can tell you anything from my own childhood, my mom and my dad were always in danger, and what I remember and what I'm grateful for is the love.
Johnny: Are you sure this hit won't be traced back to us?
Claudia: No, John, it's gonna look exactly like what it is -- a third-party hit. And we'll be mortified that such a thing could happen when well just declared peace. But we need airtight alibis. Something even Jason Morgan's gonna have to buy.
Johnny: Ok, I'm gonna meet with Luke Spencer about the haunted star budget.
Claudia: I'm not sure that's a great idea.
Johnny: Luke and Sonny are great friends. They're old friends. He's the perfect person for me to be sitting with when Sonny dies.
Claudia: Yeah, unless Luke figures out that you're using him. This is risky, Johnny. Taking Sonny out is a huge risk. You need to keep your hands clean.
Alexis: Obviously, this sounds important.
Sonny: Yeah, I want to be able to trust you and confide in you because this is --
Alexis: Just say it, all right? Because when you do this, it makes me really nervous.
Sonny: I don't -- I don't want you to, you know, look, I don't want you acting on this information in a formal capacity. I would not tell the D.A. this. I wouldn't --
Alexis: Ok, you can trust me as our daughter's mother.
Sonny: Michael shot Kate.
Alexis: On purpose?
Sonny: No, no. It was an accident. He -- for whatever reason, he felt that he had to protect Carly and Morgan, and after Emily and Leticia were murdered, he bought a gun off some punk.
Alexis: He bought a gun?
Sonny: Yes, he bought a gun.
Alexis: He's 12.
Sonny: Well, I mean...
Alexis: He's 12. He bought a gun, and he had it in the house with his little brother. Man. Oh.
[Laughs]
Sonny: Ok, you know what? I know why you kept Kristina from me early on, and I know that my life is -- is not great, ok? And I know that it hurt Michael and you're worried that it could hurt Kristina. But I'm telling you, I'm promising you on my children's lives, that I am changing all that.
[ Whimpering ]
Lulu: That bitch.
Luke: Which one? Possibilities are endless.
Lulu: Maxie Jones. She may be the one thing that I hate more than the fashion business.
Luke: Are you any good at math? I have to get these receipts in order.
Lulu: Can't your new business partner provide creative accounting?
Luke: He isn't here, honey.
Lulu: I hate that Maxie always has to win. No, wait, Maxie always has to beat me.
Luke: Well, that's kind of a half-assed compliment, when you think about it.
Lulu: Kate Howard is throwing this big party to launch her new magazine. It's called "Crimson." So, big shock, the whole thing's gonna be done in red. Actually, more specifically, it's gonna be done in crimson, because there's about a thousand different shades of red, not that anybody cares except for Kate. So Maxie and I have had our 50th meeting with this woman, Hermione, who's really strange, but apparently the best party planner in Port Charles. And, you know, I think that my taste is almost as good as Maxie's if not even better. And my people skills --
Luke: Second to none.
Lulu: So what I'm about to do something that is a little bit fun, I get dumped on. I mean, how many copies of a budget am I supposed to collate while Maxie gets to do fabric swatches?
Luke: I think I have a fix for you.
Lulu: Yeah, well, I don't have anything to blackmail Maxie with, dad.
Luke: Quit.
Lulu: No, you don't get it. Because if I quit, then Maxie would win.
Luke: No, Maxie only wins if you care, see? The trick is not to care. And extricate yourself from the situation.
Lulu: No, I -- no, no, no, no. I don't think that you've been listening to me. Maxie is a skank, ok? And anything that Maxie can do, I can do a thousand times better, and I'm just -- I'm gonna, you know, have to prove it. Whatever.
Luke: Well, hear, hear. Go for it. I love a woman on a mission.
Lulu: So, how are things with your new investor? Has, uh, he been by to inspect the property?
Luke: [Laughs] So, we finally get to the point. Let's don't pretend any more that you came here for any other reason than you hoped Johnny might show up.
Claudia: Luke Spencer is dangerous. He is smart, Johnny, and he knows all the players.
Johnny: Ok, but he's not psychic. There's no way he's gonna trace this hit back to me, especially since I don't know any of the details.
Claudia: Well, just think of it this way: The less you know, the easier it is to have deniability.
Johnny: I don't like you taking all the risk.
Claudia: I can handle it, John. You just need to watch your back with Luke Spencer. Ok? That's all I'm saying. And I wish that, you know, you might think about finding a girlfriend who had a father you could intimidate.
Johnny: All I've done is make sure Lulu knows where to find me if that's what she decides she wants.
Claudia: Look at you. How could she resist?
Johnny: I won't pursue her, but I won't turn my back on her if she comes my way, and I won't be intimidated by Luke.
Claudia: Your call. I'm not going to argue with you over girls.
Johnny: Where are you going?
Claudia: To find my own alibi.
Alexis: I don't want you to lie to me about this any more, ok? Because it has too much of a profound effect on our daughter.
Sonny: I'm not saying I'm getting out of the business, 'cause you and I both know that if I tried that, it would be like committing suicide. But I am concentrating on my legitimate holdings.
Alexis: What is the point of that? It's just a cover for the mob.
Sonny: No, it's not just a cover for the mob because I want -- I want my kids to, you know, to not have lives that are tainted, you know? I want them -- I fell into this. They don't have to. I want them to inherit something that isn't soaked in blood.
Alexis: And you -- you just came to this conclusion now because of Michael and Kate?
Sonny: They're growing up. I gotta make changes, you know. I don't want Kristina or Morgan to have to go through what -- what Michael did. I'm -- I'm -- I know it's hard for you to believe me, but I'm making peace. I'm going to try to show them a different way. They're actually -- Kate and Michael are meeting me at the warehouse because I got a coffee shipment coming in. It's just coffee, trust me. I want Michael, you know, to see what his dad does for a living. And I can't do that standing here answering questions about, you know, a dead man that I've never met, so...
Alexis: Ok, go.
Sonny: Ok.
Alexis: Yeah. Sonny. Um, have a good time with your son.
Mercedes: I thought you and Mr. Jax were going out to dinner.
Carly: Yeah, so did I, but he abandoned me, so I'm gonna take my kids and we're gonna get cheeseburgers, chili fries, and hot fudge sundaes, and I dare anyone to lecture me on how I feed my kids.
Mercedes: Michael's not here, but Morgan's upstairs in the playroom.
Carly: What do you mean, Michael's not here? He's not allowed to leave unless he gets permission from me or his father.
Mercedes: Mr. Corinthos sent Miss Howard to pick him up. They're meeting at the warehouse to watch a big shipment of coffee come in.
Carly: Are you serious?
Mercedes: I'm sorry, I though it would be ok if his father was the one who --
Carly: You know what? Feed Morgan fish sticks and corn. I'll be back with Michael.
Jason: What, were you leaving?
Carly: I'm leaving, and don't even think about defending Sonny.
