Maxie: Lulu, you're in the doctor's way.
Matt: She's fine.
Maxie: Don't buy this whole "friend of Spinelli's" routine. Lulu is nobody's friend. She's an equal opportunity drama queen.
Lulu: Ok, all I care about is that Spinelli is going to be all right.
Maxie: Here it comes, the fake concern.
Matt: Your friend is recovering nicely from the fever. It's the other symptoms.
Lulu: What -- what other symptoms?
Spinelli: The Jackal fears that the battle of the blonde ones could possibly give the wrong impression. See, there's -
Matt: Do you know why you're here, Mr. Spinelli?
Spinelli: Well, I mean, like here in the larger esoteric sense, like why does The Jackal exist on earth?
Matt: I -- I meant -- no, just here in this hospital.
Maxie: Of course he knows why he's here in the hospital.
Matt: Why not let the grown man speak for himself? Why are you here?
Spinelli: Well, the pizza delivery man. He arrived with large quantities of greasy carbs to assist The Jackal in his recovery from an over-imbibement of alcohol. He passed the dreaded ague to Stone Cold. The jack and Vixenella nursed the master through his dreaded, feverish time and unfortunately, The Jackal succumbed, the ague took hold, and here we are.
Lulu: But Spinelli's going to get better, right?
Matt: You may be right. It's important that he stays hydrated, and I am going to actually keep him for observation.
Maxie: Why?
Matt: I'm running tests. There are a number of possibilities.
Lulu: Whoa, whoa, whoa, what kind of tests? What -- what do you think is wrong with him?
Maxie: He just told you. He's recovering from the ague. Sometimes you're as thick as a brick, Lulu. So when can I take Spinelli home?
Matt: When I say so, but you two can leave any time.
Maxie: He's really rude.
Mike: Coffee to go, or are you staying for lunch?
Lucky: Staying. Sam, she is meeting me here. I had to cancel yet another dinner last night, so I'm trying to make it up to her by buying her a sandwich. Not exactly a fair trade, though.
Mike: Yeah, but doesn't canceling at the last minute go with the territory when you're dating a cop?
Lucky: Yeah, Sam, she's the opposite. She never complains, you know. She always says that plans re made to be changed.
Mike: Now, that is the woman of my dreams.
Lucky: Yeah, I'm just afraid that she may be running out of patience.
Mike: Well, you know, the person that you should be discussing this with is standing right behind you.
Lucky: And how long have you been standing there?
Sam: Long enough to tell you how sweet you are, even when you are totally wrong.
Ric: You probably want to know what's going on between Anthony Zacchara and Jerry Jacks.
Alexis: Are you telling me this as an objective observer?
Ric: Jerry walked into Anthony's hotel room, and he put a gun to John Zacchara's head, and he took him hostage.
Alexis: Sounds like the Zaccharas need better bodyguards.
Ric: So Jerry claimed that Anthony threatened Kristina.
Alexis: No, actually, we had a lovely conversation about Kristina and her day camp and how little children who wander off by the water can drown, even if they know how to swim.
Ric: Alexis, please -
Alexis: He's a lovely guy, really. I can understand why you worked so hard to get him freed from prison. I sure as hell hope he pays you well.
Claudia: Look, this is really not a great time for me. I -- I have lot of stuff to take care of.
Nikolas: Look, ok, ok, it'll just take a moment, ok? Listen, my aunt is Alexis Davis, the district attorney, and your father is threatening her daughter Kristina. I mean -
Claudia: Ok, ok, ok. My father wanted Johnny released from custody, and he went about it in a completely wrong way.
Nikolas: There's no point in explaining. Either convince your father to back off, or I'm sorry, I'm going to have to go to Jason Morgan and tell him that you and your brother were responsible for Michael's shooting.
Carly: I can't look.
Jason: You have to.
Carly: You look.
Jason: I'm not going to look.
Carly: Please, Jason, look for me.
Jason: Fine, I'll look.
Jason: You're not pregnant.
Carly: What? Oh. Oh, thank god. Thank god, thank god, thank god. I mean, don't get me wrong. Not that I wouldn't love t have a baby, but not with all these lies. Everything turned out fine.
Jason: No, it didn't turn out fine. Next time take the test before you tell people I got you pregnant.
Carly: You don't understand. I feel like I've been given a second chance with Jax. No one has to know that I had sex with Sonny. And I don't care what you say. I know you think I should tell him, but there's no way I'm losing Jax over some stupid mistake with Sonny.
Jason: You know what? I'm not going to tell you what to do. Next time, you leave me out of it.
Carly: You can't be mad at me.
Jason: Next time, leave me out of the tangled web that you weave, Carly, and just be careful.
Carly: You know what I think? I think if I were pregnant, that you think that you wouldn't lie for me, but I know you would, and I know you'd hate every second of it, but you would do that for me, and because of that, I love you. Thank you.
[Carly squeals]
Anna: They say that children model their relationships based on what they see in the family. Robin's seen a lot of people leave.
Patrick: Robert didn't even know Robin existed until she was, what, six? Is that a decision you wish you made differently?
Anna: Oh, I'm not beyond regrets. I can't change the past, and beating myself up over it is just a waste of energy that could be spent better elsewhere. Robert loves Robin. He always has. But for most of our childhood, we were co-parents and not together. And it could be that Robin kind of views parenting as the father is free to live an independent life and just pop in and visit whenever he's able.
Patrick: Well, that might work for Robert, but it doesn't for me. I had a father that was hardly ever around, and I want to be better.
Anna: Want to prove something to your father?
Patrick: No, prove something to my kid. I want our child to have what Robin and I didn't.
Lucky: Mm-hmm, yeah, you could have warned me she was listening.
Mike: Yeah, well, you know, you were paying attention to your lady, wanting her to feel appreciated. Now, there's no way I was going to mess with that, especially when Sam was enjoying it so much.
Sam: A little bit.
Lucky: Do you feel appreciated?
Sam: Do I? Yes, actually, more every day when I'm with you, so please do me a favor, and don't ever think twice about canceling or rescheduling. That's -- look, I -- stress, you don't need it. I don't need to put it on you. So just take that as a not-so-subtle hint, by the way. So why were you working late last night?
Lucky: Ah, Johnny Zacchara and Logan Hayes got into a fight last night. Scott Baldwin wanted Zacchara arrested and had him charged with attempted murder.
Sam: Oh. Ok, that sounds a little extreme.
Lucky: Yeah, especially when I have three witnesses claiming that Logan Hayes hit Zacchara first.
Sam: And you're trying to prove that Johnny's innocent. Your sister must love you for that. You are a good brother.
Lucky: More like a three-ring circus, because Zacchara's father and sister were standing there.
Sam: They were? Ok, well, then I'm sure Ric and Trevor Lansing weren't too far behind.
Lucky: Yeah, they were all there demanding that Zacchara be released, while he was in the interrogation room, sitting there like a prince. More like a mob prince.
Sam: I am sure everyone's doing back flips to save the favorite son.
Lucky: Well, I made Lulu stand there and watch, because she needs to understand that this kid is never going to be getting out of the mob.
Sam: I -- I just -- I -- I don't think that's the thing that Lulu is worrying about right now. It's probably the last thing she's worrying about. All she's thinking about is how Johnny Zacchara makes her feel, and the one thing that I can relate to is that, you know, when you have this attraction. You can't stop somebody from that, and I mean, I think maybe you should brace yourself for it -- love.
Lucky: You think Lulu loves Johnny.
Sam: I think you think so, too.
Lucky: The thing is that Lulu is a lot like my mother, and this could be a bad thing. This could be a really bad thing.
Ric: Alexis, I'm not going to make excuses for Anthony Zacchara.
Alexis: You don't think Zacchara's serious?
Ric: No, I think he was trying to scare you, and it worked.
Alexis: Oh, so Kristina's not in any danger.
Ric: No, she's not. I swear to it.
Alexis: And it makes it ok, because he was -- he was just kidding.
Ric: No, that's not what I'm saying, ok? I'm just saying that there's no reason for you to overreact, when there's nothing to be concerned about.
Alexis: According to you, because if you said anything else, it would make you wrong,
Ric. Which reminds me, we should really get Molly into school -
Ric: Alexis, do you honestly think that I would let Anthony hurt the children?
Alexis: You beat me in that courtroom at his sanity hearing, and this is the price of your victory.
Ric: Anthony -- listen to me, please. Anthony is a master manipulator. I have watched how he works. He's ruthless. He goes after a person's Achilles Heel, and he punctures it. That's why he threatened Kristina. He's not stupid. He's not going to go after a small child. Kristina's not in danger.
Alexis: Foolish me.
Ric: But you know what? The thing that you did make a mistake in is trusting Jerry Jacks, because he is not the good guy that you think he is. He is a card-carrying psychopath who would hurt somebody else's child. He hurt a helpless, unarmed woman for fun and amusement. And he is on your side right now, but that can change in a heartbeat.
Alexis: Jerry Jacks defended my daughter, which is a lot more than I can say for you. Excuse me.
Johnny: If my father doesn't hear from me soon, he's going to start to worry. He's going to do something about it.
Jerry: I'm just curious. Do you agree with your father threatening little girls? I mean, I'm -- you know, I'm just asking. I'd like to know who I'm dealing with.
Johnny: I don't agree with it at all.
Jerry: No, no, no, this is where you're trying to convince me that it was done in earnest, that it was done to terrorize the child's mother, which apparently is acceptable.
Johnny: My father miscalculated. He wanted to frighten Alexis. He had no idea that she had you to turn to.
Jerry: So you agree that Anthony's a bully and a coward.
Johnny: He received your message. The Zaccharas will leave Alexis and her child alone.
Jerry: What a relief. You see, I'm not prone to idle threats, but if any harm is done to Alexis Davis and her child, I will hunt you and your sister down and blow your bloody heads off, preferably in front of each other. Now, get out of here.
Claudia: I never meant for Michael to get hurt, and my brother John had nothing to do with this.
Nikolas: Claudia, given your track record, I'm not really inclined to believe that.
Claudia: What changed?
Nikolas: What changed? What do you mean, what changed? Your father is threatening an innocent girl, who by the way, happens to be my -- my cousin. I just can't allow that.
Claudia: Ok, Kristina is perfectly safe. I promise you that. The person who is in trouble here, who is in danger, is my brother. Jerry Jacks has become Alexis' protector. He showed up at the hotel, kidnapped my brother at gunpoint.
Nikolas: Yeah, well, looks like that past of yours is finally catching up to you, huh?
Claudia: That's it? That's -
Nikolas: Well, what do you want -
Claudia: That's what you have for me, platitudes?
Nikolas: If you're looking for sympathy from me, I don't have any left. I'm sorry. Look, just know this. If anything happens to Alexis or those little girls, I'm going to have to tell Jason the truth about you.
Matt: So you were a little nervous with those two blondes.
Spinelli: The Jackal is uncomfortable in many social environs.
Matt: You find it difficult to make small talk?
Spinelli: There is no such thing as small talk. All words have significance.
Matt: And I understand you're something of a computer genius.
Spinelli: Ah, yes. The Jackal is the ace of cyberspace. It is where he rules.
Matt: Ah, and you talk about yourself in the third person. That's a conceit that's usually reserved for politicians and some basketball players, too. Have you ever heard of an MBTI? Myers-Briggs type indicator? It's a personality test. Do you know who Alan Turing is?
Spinelli: A -- a god of epic proportions. He invented the first electronic computer.
Matt: Yeah, he very well might have had what I suspect you have. You appear awkward in social situations, and you find it difficult to pick up on social cues. You're passionate about singular topics, and you have obsessive behavior, and you can't make small talk.
Spinelli: Stone Cold -- um, yeah, Stone Cold -- maybe he and I have the same syndrome. It would explain our deep and abiding connection.
Matt: Ok. I don't know who Stone Cold is, but I would be happy to examine him.
Spinelli: Well, he would undoubtedly refuse. See, he -- he shuns medical attention, even when suffering from gunshot wounds.
Matt: Ok, well, I would have to run some tests in order to properly diagnose you.
Spinelli: Actually, The Jackal doesn't care to be diagnosed. He is who he is, and unless that requires quarantine, nothing else needs to be said.
Matt: You're not interested in changing some aspects of your personality, things that you aren't happy with?
Spinelli: Look, The Jackal is quite happy. Thank you. And the last time he tried to change his behavior, he ended up with a near fatal fever, so thank you for your analysis, Dr. Doom, but let us mutually agree that this conversation never happened.
Matt: Ok, it's your call.
Kate: Well, I'm so pleased the two of you actually bothered to show up for work.
[Phone rings]
Maxie: Oh! I got it, I got it. "Crimson," this is Maxie. Oh, Federico, how are you doing? Kate's right here and dying to talk to you.
Kate: I'll take it in my office. E-mails. Calendar, Maxie.
Maxie: Yes, right on it. What are you even doing here? Wasn't Johnny just released from lockup?
Lulu: So?
Maxie: So I guess he had better things to do than reunite with you. No wonder you're already looking for someone else.
Lulu: What are you rambling about?
Maxie: Dr. Matt, at the hospital. I saw you flirting with him, and he might just be dumb enough to buy it.
Lulu: You are so delusional right now. Johnny and I are just fine.
Maxie: I think not. You and Johnny are already fading, and you're starting to look for the next warm body who might just fall for your tricks. Don't you think you should wait until your current boyfriend dumps you before you move on to the next one?
Robin: Ok. You might be right. I mean, I've told myself that Patrick wants to be involved with this child because he thinks that he should. Because everything else aside, Patrick is a good man, and he thinks that a good man should step up. You know, I'm just trying to show him that he doesn't have to be with me and the baby out of obligation.
Elizabeth: Yeah, you've pretty much taken out a billboard stating that.
Diane: Dr. Scorpio, hello. It's so nice to see you again. Tell me, have you received your paperwork vis-a-vis the legal action being brought by your baby's father?
Robin: Yes, I have, but he has no grounds.
Diane: Well, I am requesting a court date, because that little one inside of you is growing larger every day, and Dr. Drake is losing precious moments that he needs to establish a lasting relationship. And that, by the way, was just a sneak preview of my opening statement on his behalf.
Robin: Great, if you and Dr. Drake decide to take this to court, you'll both be sorry.
Diane: Hmm.
Patrick: What's going on?
Diane: Dr. Scorpio intends to fight petition.
Anna: I'm Anna Devane, I'm Dr. Scorpio's mother.
Diane: Diane Miller, counsel for the father.
Anna: Uh-huh. If -- if this were to go to court, then I feel like I would be forced to testify.
Robin: Thanks, mom.
Anna: For Patrick.
Claudia: John!
Jerry: So glad you could come, darling, now tell your brother he can't kill me.
Johnny: She doesn't have the gun.
Jerry: Oh, come on. Claudia, why don't you tell Johnny that I have proof that -- of your dirty, life-destroying secret.
Carly: Hey, I'm sorry. Jason and I, we had something that we needed to work through, but I'm here now. Hi.
Jax: That's good. We can deal with this face to face.
Carly: Wow, you look upset. What's going on?
Jax: Um -- ok, is the reason that you didn't want to take a pregnancy test because there's a chance that Sonny might be the baby's father?
Jason: No, it's Damian Spinelli.
[Knock on door]
Jason: You know what? I'm going to have to call you back. Thanks.
Sonny: I just -- I just want the truth. Are you sleeping with Carly? Or am I the father of the baby?
