Tuesday August 19 - Part 1

Patrick: Ok, I'm going to go with the Denver omelet, please.

Robin: Make that two. What's your herbal tea of the day?

Mike: Herbal tea? Passion fruit.

Robin: Ok, I'll have one of those.

Mike: Ok, coming right up.

Patrick: You know what? Scratch that. Let's go with oatmeal, strawberries, whole wheat toast.

Mike: Ok.

Patrick: We have to maintain healthy iron levels for the placenta.

Robin: We?

Patrick: Well, I mean, I'm going to give up my omelet. I don't think it's really fair for me to eat something else. Plus, 86 the tea. She doesn't really want it. We'll go with orange juice. Folic acid.

Mike: Look, excuse me, but I -- I'm no expert by any stretch, but I always understood that -- that babies need folic acid in the first trimester.

Robin: That's actually true, mike.

Patrick: Actually, no, that's a myth. It's good for pregnancy, the whole pregnancy.

Mike: You say so, doc.

Robin: The hovering was annoying before. Now that you know we're having a girl, this is just out of control.

Patrick: Well, robin, if you can't tell, I'm terrified.

Claudia: Whose idea was it to shackle my brother like an animal? Let me guess, Scotty Baldwin? Hey, I'm talking to you.

Johnny: Calm down. He's just doing his job. I'd like a few minutes alone with my sister, please.

Claudia: Pig.

Johnny: That's original.

Claudia: What? How can you be so calm? You're shackled hand and foot.

Johnny: At least they're letting me have visitors.

Claudia: Well, brace yourself because it's about to get a hell of a lot worse. Scott Baldwin thinks he has everything he needs to convict you of murder.

Lulu: No. No! No!

[Knock at door]

Bernie: Looks like you haven't slept all night.

Jason: I almost killed a child last night.

Sam: It was really nice of you stop by. Thanks.

Elizabeth: I always follow up with my patients.

Sam: Well, the wound is doing much better today, thanks to you.

Elizabeth: Good.

Sam: Ok, that sounded puny, I know. Look, I just -- I really don't quite know how to tell you how grateful I am for the unquestioning way you helped me last night.

Elizabeth: Don't worry about it.

Lucky: Don't minimize what you did. You not only saved Sam, but you saved me. By taking care of her, you helped us avoid going to any hospital.

Sam: Yes.

Elizabeth: Well, I'm always happy to help. How's your sister?

Lucky: We spent time with the doctors and she's not doing so good.

Elizabeth: I'm sorry.

Lucky: Nikolas, he's there. And I'm going there as soon I can make sure Sam doesn't end up on last night's D.E.A. Report.

Sam: That's good.

Elizabeth: So what's your next move on the counterfeit drug front?

Lucky: There is none.

Sam: I'm sorry?

Lucky: We proved it last night.

Sam: What?

Lucky: We're in over our heads. We're dropping this investigation.

Sam: No, hold on a minute. I didn't get a scar for nothing, Lucky. This scar that I'm going to have is going to help prove to Karpov that I'm -- I'm loyal and help me get further into his organization. I'm not going to walk away from that.

Johnny: You heard anything about Lulu?

Claudia: No, nothing.

Johnny: You expect me to believe that?

Claudia: What?

Johnny: Between your friend Nikolas and our father, you expect me to believe that you've heard nothing about Lulu.

Claudia: Now, I don't really give a damn about Lulu, John, so I'm not exactly lining up for her progress reports.

Johnny: Maybe you weren't paying attention when they dragged me out of Shadybrook in handcuffs. When Lulu was losing it, they shoved her into a straightjacket and tried to sedate her, ok? All that was because she cared about me too much to allow me to bring her home sooner.

Claudia: Oh, you know what, honey? You're right. I must have missed that because I was focused on my brother who was being dragged out by the cops and a prosecutor who wants to try him for murder and put him in jail for the rest of his life. Johnny, what the hell is the matter with you? When are you going to wake up and realize you're entire future is on the line here? And granted, it's not a great future anymore because you pretty much blew that all to hell when you made a jailbreak with Lulu. John, you couldn't have made yourself look more guilty if you had -- if you had posed for a photograph with a bloody knife in your hand.

Johnny: It was my decision.

Claudia: Was it your decision? Was it really? Because I know that Lulu's the one who came up with the idea of busting you out of here. And I know gosh darn well that she's the one who brought the gun in here. So it seems to me like Lulu's making all the choices and her big fat love just ruined your life.

Lulu: No!

Nikolas: Lulu, Lulu, look at me. It's Nikolas. It's me. It's ok. Baby, you're -- you're ok. You're ok. No one can hurt you.

Lulu: Nikolas, I'm sorry.

Nikolas: You don't have anything to apologize for. Just tell me what upset you. Lulu: I just -- I woke up and I'm at shady brook and I don't want to be here. I don't want to be here.

Nikolas: I'm going to get you out of here as soon as possible, ok? I promise. But you have to -- can you be honest with me, hmm? Do you see something in here?

Lulu: You think that I'm hallucinating?

Nikolas: I'm just -- no, I'm just -- I'm just saying I've been there. I saw Emily for months. I know what it's like to have to cover with everyone. Is that what's happening with you? Look, you -- you can trust me. I'm not going to judge you.

Lulu: I see Logan.

Jason: I went to Karpov's warehouse last night to get rid of him.

Bernie: Yeah? Did you have trouble getting in?

Jason: No, no trouble. I got into position. It took a little while to get a clear site-line, you know, Kirov's pacing around. His lawyer was there. She was getting in the way.

Bernie: Mm-hmm, and then?

Jason: I finally had my shot. And I was about to take it when a little girl, she couldn't have been more than ten, ran into Karpov's arms. Almost exactly like what happened to Michael. Wrong place, wrong time, innocent kid, and for what? Karpov and I agreed to live and let live for now.

Bernie: I can see how that would make you more comfortable in the short run. But down the road, this is a decision that could come back to haunt you.

Claudia: There's nothing that you can do for Lulu, Johnny. You need to accept that and start focusing on yourself, here. You know, salvage your defense by telling Alexis Davis what really happened, that Lulu brought the gun in here, that she engineered your entire escape -

Johnny: Ok, you can stop it right there. I know you don't want to hear it, but I love Lulu and I'm not throwing her to the wolves or doing anything to throw her in harm's way. So get that message through your own head. Then take it to our father, Ric, and Trevor. Lulu is to remain untouched.

Claudia: Oh, that's noble of you. It really is, but, Johnny, you're too late. Lulu is at shady brook. She's under 24-hour surveillance, babbling god knows what. And you can bet your sweet ass the cops are going to hear every rambling word. That's why you need to do your own damage control. You need to come forward with what really happened and let Lucky and Nikolas worry about Lulu. I mean -

Johnny: I'm going to tell you this as many times as it takes for it to sink in. I love Lulu and I'll do anything to protect her.

Claudia: Ok, damn it, John. Lulu, she's the reason that you had to go on the run here. You remember that? She's the reason that you got caught. So what's going to happen when they strap you down for lethal injection, huh? You going to be crying about how much you love that stupid girl?

Johnny: You're damn right I am. If you don't like it, get the hell out.

Claudia: Fine, you know what? I will because I have no desire to watch you destroy your life.

Lulu: At first I would just see him in nightmares, and now he's just showing up here whenever.

Nikolas: Like when I first came in? Does he say anything to you? Talk to you?

Lulu: He just stands there, looking at me with hurt and accusation in his eyes. He has a knife in his stomach and he's very, very dead. And I try to be strong and tell myself that I don't see him, but I really see him and I can't make him go away.

Nikolas: Do you see him right now?

Lulu: No, but I'm losing my mind. That's what this means, right?

Nikolas: No, no, no. You've just been under a lot of pressure.

Lulu: But that's what happens. The pressure just makes your brain snap and then you become catatonic in shady brook like mom.

Nikolas: No.

Lulu: Is that what I'm destined for, to just be trapped inside my own mind with Logan haunting me forever?

Lucky: Would you excuse us? In case you've forgotten, my sister is having a nervous breakdown. My father is gone, all right, so I don't want to risk losing you.

Sam: I realize that you feel like your life is spinning out of control right now and you're concerned about my safety, but I have my own concerns, too. Namely, that people are getting sick and dying in hospitals because of the counterfeit drug ring that we can help bring down.

Lucky: And there are other ways to bust Karpov. So I'm asking you, give it up.

Sam: That is not fair and I can't.

Elizabeth: Do you guys want an objective opinion?

Lucky: Please.

Sam: Go ahead.

Lucky: Just step right in.

Elizabeth: It's obvious you guys really care about each other. And part of being in a successful relationship is having respect for each other's choices, whether you agree with them or not, and allowing the path they choose, no matter how afraid you are for someone. So I really hope you guys can do that, because from what I can see, you have a chance at being really good together. And it would be a shame to blow it out of stubbornness. And that's not directed at anyone in particular. That's it.

Lucky: Elizabeth, I'd appreciate it if you could just stick around and make sure Sam doesn't take off the minute I'm gone.

Sam: Excuse me. I'm sorry, but did you not hear a word that she just said?

Lucky: Yeah, every single one. I just want Elizabeth to stick around and make sure that you're healing properly so you can go back to being undercover when you're at your best.

Jason: I've seen bosses drunk on power and paranoia. I mean, look at Zacchara, Alcazar, now Karpov. A preemptive strike against guys like that is the first step down a bloody road that I don't want to take.

Bernie: Yeah, and I didn't mean to offer you bad advice.

Jason: You didn't. It doesn't mean I'm going to take it, but I don't want you to stifle yourself, Bernie, because your opinion is valuable to me.

Bernie: Ok, so I can tell you what I'm thinking?

Jason: Yes.

Bernie: All right. I've made inquiries, and Karpov always follows the same pattern when he's making an expansion. He moves in. He tells the locals he's just operating on the periphery. And then once he's established a base, he just takes out the competition, I'm mean, without compunction. It's only a matter of time before he uses that M.O. On you.

Jason: It might work in Europe. It's not going to work here. He's overextended.

Bernie: Yeah.

Jason: Come on, a successful takeover would not be realistic for -- for months.

Bernie: Right. He is vulnerable now and he may not be that vulnerable in, say, two months. So looking at it from a purely business perspective, now is the time for you to make your move.

Jason: And you're saying this to me because that is what Sonny would do.

Nikolas: Don't jump to conclusions based on fear, ok? You're not going to end up catatonic like mom. And those visions of Logan will eventually disappear once you get some treatment, ok? You don't have to make this a self-fulfilling prophecy, you know.

Lulu: That's exactly what Johnny said.

Nikolas: Well, then for once, I agree with him. See? Miracles can happen when you least expect.

[Lulu chuckles]

Lulu: I love you.

Nikolas: I love you, too. You'll be ok.

[Knock at door]

Monica: Hello, Nikolas, Lulu.

Alice: Hi, Mr. Nikolas.

Nurse: Dr. Foster wants to limit non-family visits. You have five minutes.

Edward: Don't be ridiculous. We are this girl's family.

Monica: Edward.

Nikolas: I can stay if you want me to.

Lulu: I'll be fine, thank you.

Nikolas: Bye.

Monica: Well, how are you? Lulu: Um, a little shaky.

Alice: You're going to be just fine, miss Lulu. I know it.

Edward: And Tracy has gone to look for Luke. She'll get him back here as soon as possible.

Alice: But in the meantime, look what we brought you, your favorite muffins.

Lulu: That was very thoughtful.

Edward: Well, we wanted you have a piece of home.

Monica: Yes, an edible piece.

Lulu: In case I go crazy and I don't get the chance to say it, thank you for putting up with me, even though I was bratty and probably didn't deserve it.

Monica: Are you kidding? The Quartermaines have taken brattiness to an art form. And Edward is right. You are one of us now, so you get better and you come home where you belong.

Nadine: Come on, at least try. Maybe you'll make more progress than I did.

Leyla: You know, unlike you, I don't happen think Dr. Hunter is part of some counterfeit drug ring. I do think, though, that he's a bit of a rebel and a major player, a lot like Patrick. Which begs the question, why would I willingly put myself in another position where my heart could be made available for more indiscriminate stomping?

Matt: I need the Allen chart.

Leyla: Ok.

Matt: Thank you. What is that smell?

Leyla: Smell?

Matt: Yeah -- no, it's you. You're wearing a new perfume.

Leyla: Oh, I don't wear perfume, none of us do. Patients could be allergic.

Matt: Oh, so you're just trying to say you naturally smell like heaven?

Nadine: Doctors Drake and Scorpio, here are your charts for today.

Robin: Thank you.

Patrick: Uh, you know what? Let me take Rosenthal and I'll take Diaz. I'm familiar with that, too.

Robin: No, I will take it because I'm the doctor of record. That's why I come to work everyday, to treat my patients.

Patrick: No, I know. I just thought maybe you could get a little rest. You and the baby can go home and -- you don't need rest, it's still the morning. What am I thinking?

Robin: Yeah. See you later.

Patrick: Ok.

Matt: So I would like -- I would love to take you out to dinner some time. So what's a good night?

Leyla: I don't date in the workplace.

Matt: Right, neither do I. I don't think we should have dinner in the workplace, either.

Leyla: Sorry, that's a rule I have.

Matt: Yeah? Ok, rules are made to broken. There's exceptions.

Leyla: I don't think so.

Matt: Can you think just a little more on it?

[Loud clap]

Patrick: Shut your mouth and back off, or I'll turn you in for sexual harassment.

Elizabeth: You were right. So far, so good.

Sam: Ow.

Elizabeth: There you go.

Sam: Ok, can I just say something? This is really weird.

Elizabeth: What is?

Sam: Well, I mean, I don't know. We were not friends and here I am feeling totally grateful to you. And not only for your awesome medical attention, but for what you just said to Lucky before. I think you really got through to him.

Elizabeth: I hope I didn't come off like the relationship police or anything. I just can see that you guys are good together and I think you need a little time to figure it out.

Sam: You know what? I think you're right.

Elizabeth: Ok, well, I guess, call me if you need me.

Sam: Ok.

Elizabeth: All right.

Sam: Um, Elizabeth?

Elizabeth: Yeah.

Sam: Thank you, I mean, for everything.

Elizabeth: Don't stop believing in Lucky. He won't let you down.

Jason: I've always been more comfortable taking orders than giving them. You know, Sonny called the shots. If he wanted a preemptive strike, I carried it out.

Bernie: Yeah, unless you disagreed, which happened more than once. Listen, I heard all those stories from when my brother worked here. Some pretty big decisions, choices that shaped this organization came about because you decided to go against the status quo.

Jason: Yeah, but the burden was still on Sonny. If he was wrong, he would've taken the fall. Now it's all on me.

Bernie: Yeah, no, I -- I understand the pressures that you're under. You were -- you're responsible for the day-to-day operation of a -- of a very complex syndicate. But you're also responsible for the people who work for you, people who stand to lose everything if Karpov takes over or if he decides to start a civil war. They'll become targets. Don't you think you owe it to the people who work with you to do what you can to protect them?
