Thursday August 21 Part 1 Patrick: I have to disagree with you. I think it's a perfect way. Epiphany: You're being ridiculous. Patrick: Inspired. Epiphany: Sometime inspiration is a step away from total disaster. I strongly suggest you rethink this. Patrick: Epiphany, you have lost your sense of adventure. Epiphany: It's better than losing my mind. Patrick: Hi. Robin: Hi. Want to tell me what's going on? Maxie: So, what kind of incriminating evidence are we looking for? Spinelli: Something we can use to end the destructive affair between Stone Cold and the Slavic seductress. Maxie: Spinelli, don't you think you're overreacting? I mean, Jason's not even sleeping with Sasha. Spinelli: Ok, Stone Cold's repeated denials may have convinced Maximista, but the jackal sees the torrid truth that lies beneath. It is evident that the master is throwing caution to the wind, seeking solace by courting oblivion. But the thing is, this affair could get him killed. Oh. Sonny: Looks like the coffee business has its best number in years, thank you very much. Max: Congratulations, Mr. C. Sonny: Nothing more from Karpov, right? Max: It looks like he's going to let you pull out of your deal with him without any consequences. Kate: So I have to say, it's a little over the top, but it has a kitschy sort of charm, and I think it might be made out of solid gold, so in the right spot, I could learn to love it. Sonny: What are you talking about? Kate: The wedding gift that was just delivered from your friend, Andrei Karpov. Lulu: Yes, I need to speak with somebody you have in custody. Johnny Zacchara. Officer: I could take a message. Lulu: No, this is Linda Schmidt. His attorney has hired me. I'm a private investigator for his case. I need to speak with him. Cop: Hold on. Johnny: Hello? Lulu: Johnny, it's me. Are you ok? Johnny: I'm fine. How are you? Lulu: I miss you so much. Johnny: Just take it easy, ok? Let the doctors help you. Lulu: I wish we went to Vancouver like we planned. I wish we just kept driving there. I wish we'd never stopped. Johnny: I'll be out of here in no time, ok? Same goes for you. Lulu: I hate it here. I feel like it's sucking everything out of me. Johnny: You know how much I love you, right? Just hang on to that. And I promise you, everything will be ok. Lulu: Johnny? Johnny. No, Johnny! Scott: No more personal phone calls. Johnny: You better watch yourself, pal. Scott: Or -- or what? You're going to kill me? Is that your answer to everything? By the way, this phone call is going on record to show that you and Lulu are in cahoots, that you're trying to get your stories straight. Johnny: Lulu's falling apart. She's in a lot of pain. Scott: Don't even talk to me about pain. You know, you're going to spend the rest of your life in prison, so you will not know what it's like to have a -- a child and have it killed violently. Johnny: I didn't kill your son. Scott: Yeah, you did. Johnny: Ok. Scott: I got evidence. You and Lulu are going to pay for what you did. Johnny: Come after me all you want. You stay away from Lulu. Alexis: You need to leave, Scott. You are way too close to this case to be anywhere near the accused. Lulu: I'm sorry. I thought we had our appointment this afternoon. Lainey: Yeah, I had a meeting with a patient, so I thought I'd stop by and see how you're doing. Not well, I see. Lulu: I'm sorry. I can't help it. Lainey: Why don't we start with what upset you? Lulu: I called Johnny, and I was relieved that they actually let me talk to him. Lainey: They did? Lulu: Well, they didn't know who I was. I lied, but when I heard his voice, it was like a lifeline, and then we got cut off. Somebody hung up the phone, and I'm afraid they're going to do something to punish him. Lainey: Well, I'm sure his lawyers are watching out for him. Lulu: I just can't stand imagining him being locked up. I mean, he's not the type of guy who sits still. He's on the edge of whatever he does. You don't lock someone up like that and expect everything to just be ok. Lainey: What would you do to help him? Lulu: I don't know. I don't know. I just need to figure something out, have someone take me from Shadybrook over, so I can talk to him. Lainey: We talked about how critical it is for you to spend your first week or so staying focused, Lulu. Lulu: I know, but I felt so good when I talked to him on the phone. Imagine how I'll feel if I get to see him in person. Lainey: I know. Lulu, I'm so sorry, but that's not possible. You can't sign yourself out, and I can't let you go. Lulu: But the -- there has to be a way. This isn't jail. Lainey: A family member can sign you out for short periods of time. [Knock on door] Lucky: Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were having a session. Lulu: We're not. We're not. I'm so glad that you're here. Lucky: I guess you're doing better. Lulu: Oh, I am now that you're here. Robin: I really don't like surprises. Patrick: Since when? Robin: Surprises are like secrets, meaning that I don't know stuff that other people know. Kelly: Then you picked the wrong town to live in. Patrick: Ok, listen, you'll know soon. I promise. I -- I promise I'll tell you before you leave tonight. Robin: Kelly, what's going on? Kelly: Like you, I have no idea. Unlike you, it's not a problem. Robin: Well, I think I know what you're doing, and I'm going to tell you that it's a very bad idea. Epiphany: Do you hear her, Drake, jr.? It's a bad idea. Robin: Hey, mom. Anna: Hi. Patrick: Hi. Robin: What are you doing here? Anna: Patrick asked me to come. Patrick: Yeah, I did, but you're -- you're early. Anna: Oh, ok. Well, I can go and read a magazine or something. Robin: You asked my mother to come. Now I know I'm right. Anna: What are you right about? Robin: This whole intervention. Patrick wants me to stop practicing and take maternity leave early. Patrick: I -- I what? Robin: Yeah, you want me to go home and nest. Anna: Oh, is that why I'm here? Patrick: No. Anna: Oh. Robin: Are you going to try and tell me that this isn't you trying to make decisions about my future? Patrick: Well, yes, it is, kind of, but not in the way you're thinking. Listen, ok. Robin, I will tell you. As soon as when I'm good and ready, I will tell you. Kelly: Robin, deep, calming breath. Robin: Calming breaths? Mom, I love you, but I'm sorry. You don't get a vote in this, and I love you, too, but we've been over this. I am not changing my mind. I am not going to stop practicing and go home early, so this conversation is over. Anna: Actually, you know, you might want to rethink that. Spinelli: Stone Cold remains customarily silent, but his thoughts are resoundingly apparent. The topic of his torrid affair with the Slavic seductress is verboten. Jason: My personal life is off limits, even when you're talking this crazy stuff. Maxie: Maybe you should ask yourself why Spinelli thinks you're sleeping with Sasha when you're not. Jason: Because he -- you jumped to the wrong conclusion. You can't let it go right now. Maxie: No, because -- pay attention -- Spinelli is worried about you. I mean, think about it. A boy you love was shot in the head. His dad retired and dropped the mob in your lap, and now you're worried that some Russian guy is going to take over your territory. That's a lot to deal with, and on top of all of it, Johnny and Lulu have gotten themselves into this situation that's basically hit critical mass. You could snap. Maybe you have already snapped. Maybe Spinelli thinks you've snapped by having an affair that you're not really having. But he's just trying to be your friend, so you should be a good friend to him, too, and just take him seriously, even if he's totally wrong. Sonny: A gift from Karpov was delivered to your house? Kate: Mm-hmm, and I'm sure it will be fine in the right spot. It's a copy of a Faberge music box. You don't think it could be the real thing? How wealthy is this Karpov? Sonny: Go, go get the -- get it, max. Kate: It's on the dining room table. Sonny: And have -- have somebody deliver it. Kate: Obviously, something is wrong, and I don't think it's that you dislike Russian knickknacks. You going to tell me? What's going on? Sonny: Karpov is a mobster. Nikolas: Thank you for visiting Lulu yesterday. I appreciate it. Elizabeth: She told you? Nikolas: No, I actually -- I actually looked in on you. Honestly, that's the most relaxed I've seen Lulu since she's been at Shadybrook. Elizabeth: You should have joined us. Nikolas: Yeah, I know. I just got a little sidetracked. I went to visit my mom and ended up venting to her. I don't know why. But you're right. I -- I should have. Lulu needs our attention right now. Elizabeth: And she's getting the best treatment around. Nikolas: Yeah. Elizabeth: Which makes it possible for me to be here to listen to what's going on with you. Nikolas: Ah, it's nothing I can't handle myself. Elizabeth: It's Nadine, isn't it? Nikolas: Yeah, you've already made your opinion clear on that subject. You want me to be open to a possible romance with Nadine, yes? Elizabeth: I know you think you'll never love anyone like you loved Emily, but wouldn't it be sad if you missed out on something that could make you happy because you refused to leave yourself open to it? I'm not saying Nadine is the answer, but she might be the possibility. Sonny: The woman who was here the other day, right? Sasha Donev -- she's Andrei Karpov's attorney. Kate: So Karpov is the man with mob ties who lied to you? Begs the question, why'd you get involved with him in the first place? Sonny: It was a simple, legitimate business arrangement, and he came here, and we negotiated a deal. Kate: Mm-hmm, to distribute coffee beans to Eastern Europe? Sonny: Andrei Karpov misrepresented himself from start to finish. I -- I acted in good faith, and I realized that the deal was bait to pull me back into the life, and I -- I said no, we're done. And then, you know, I don't have to deal with it anymore. Kate: And he let you? Sonny: Well, he's not happy. That -- you know, that wedding present is not a gift. It's probably a reminder that I blew the deal. Kate: Well, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. I wish you had told me. Sonny: I was doing everything with good intentions, and, you know, I wanted everything to work out for everybody, and I just took Karpov at his word, and I -- I should have done more research. Kate: Mm-hmm. Well, then, it's good you sent the wedding gift back, right? Sonny: Ok, yeah, yeah. Kate: I'm glad that you stuck to your principles, that you recognize that we have enough, so you don't have to go back to the mob. But what I'm most grateful about is that I don't have to worry at night that you're going to be dragged back into the danger. Maxie: Everything Spinelli does is out of loyalty to you. Spinelli: Ok, it's kind of Maximista to speak for the jackal, but he must take - Maxie: He's the best friend you have. Has he or has he not done everything you've ever asked him to do, Jason, without one complaint? Spinelli: Maximista's observations are genuine but not necessarily - Maxie: I can't count the number of times he's broken the law for you doing all that hacking stuff. It's not exactly like he's a risk-taker by nature. So if he's worried about you, I just think you should listen to him. Jason: Spinelli, I appreciate your concern. You're right. I'm handling a lot right now, but am not sleeping with Karpov's attorney. Maxie: Great, now that that's finished, we can talk about something else, like Lulu. I went to visit her at Shadybrook yesterday. She's about one good therapy session away from spilling the beans, and if that happens, I will be arrested for accessory to murder. I though you said you were going to fix this, and now would probably be a good time. Jason: I'll see what I can do. You, stop researching Sasha, and please finish that project I asked you to do. Maxie: I'm really sorry, Spinelli. I hope you weren't offended. I wasn't trying to say that you were wrong. I was just trying to explain that you were mistaken about that whole Jason and Sasha having sex thing. Spinelli: It is Maximista who is mistaken. She has been deceived by Stone Cold's ability to cover up his secret pain, but it is apparent to the discerning observer. Witness how Stone Cold doth protest too much. He is ensnared by the Slavic seductress, and nothing good lies down that road. Alexis: Scott, this is my case to prosecute, and I can't let you jeopardize it by confusing all the issues. Scott: There's no confusion. This punk killed my son, end of story. Alexis: It's a conflict of interest for you, and any effort that you make to get him convicted is going to end up in appeals court. Scott: Conflict of interest? Come on, Alexis. Trevor Lansing is the grandfather of your child, not to mention the fact that you have pretty much jumped into bed with every mobster in this town or you've worked for them, so you see, I want to make sure that my son gets justice. Alexis: You're a grieving father, and for that, you have all my sympathies. In fact, this office has given you a lot of leeway out of respect for your loss. But Scott, the law is the law, and I can't have you twist things around for your own sense of revenge. Scott: What are you -- Alexis, you looking for some kind of a loophole so that you can let Johnny walk? Alexis: No, Scott, I'm trying to do my job. Scott: Well, then do your job. Subpoena Lulu Spencer as a hostile witness. Alexis: I'm not going to discuss my legal strategy in front of john here. If you have a suggestion, and I'm sure you do -- send a memo. I will give it my -- my fullest consideration. Scott: Yeah. Alexis: I'll try to keep him out of here from now on. Johnny: If Lulu's forced to testify, it could push her right over the edge. Lainey: I have appointments at general hospital for the rest of the day, but I will be back for a session later. And Lulu, try not to be so hard on yourself. Things will get better, I promise. Lulu: Ok. Lucky: Thanks, Dr. Winters. You know, she's right, Lulu. You need to stop being so hard on yourself. Lulu: Well, she doesn't understand, not like you. You were in rehab, so you know what it feels like to be trapped. Lucky: Yeah, or feel like a failure. So all you got to do is just get through every day, and I promise, things will start to change. Lulu: Well, I know things will change and I'll feel better if I get to see Johnny. Please, Lucky, will you please, please take me to see him? Anna: So, let me just tell you a little bit about my experience of being pregnant with you. I was in hiding. I was basically living underground. I was constantly on the run, and I was trying to keep my condition a secret, and it wasn't fun, you know? I really, really regret the fact that I never got to enjoy being pregnant. Robin: Ok, well, I -- I understand that, but let me remind you, I am a doctor, not a super spy, ok? So every night when I go home, I do enjoy it. I take a warm bath, rose petals and candles, and relish my ever-changing body. I can assure you, I'm not depriving myself of anything. Epiphany: You know, Drake, jr., this would be a good time for you to go find yourself an operating room, throw yourself into a nice, long procedure, go home, go to sleep. And when you wake up in the morning, hopefully, this whole idea will have passed. Patrick: I'm sorry I confided in you, Epiphany. Matt: Epiphany, whose initials are those? Epiphany: Nadine Crowell's. Nadine: What's the problem? Matt: You had Dr. Riley look at my chart, my patient. Nadine: If you have an issue with my work, report me. Matt: Yeah, you bet I will. Patrick: No, you won't. Back off, Hunter. Matt: You know, where I come from, doctors don't interfere with other doctors' work without an invitation. Patrick: I'm not worried about your work. I'm worried about how you abuse our support staff. Anna: Ok, I mean, if you are truly content and happy, then I support you 100%. And if you insist on continuing your work here, then great, but make sure that it's because you want to, not because you're trying to prove something to Patrick. Robin: Ok, point taken. Patrick: Hey, what was that all about? Anna: Well, I was giving her a little bit of advice. And I want to give you some, too. You're making Robin claustrophobic. I mean, it's a beautiful thing, how much you love her, but try not to smother her, ok? Kate: So what happens now, hmm? Karpov's gift gets returned. He could be insulted. Could he retaliate? Sonny: Look at you, all worried, asking questions that you don't want to know the answer to. That's why I turned on Karpov, because I'm not going back to that life. Kate: I just want to know what we're in for. Sonny: Nothing. You think -- you think I'd put you in a position where you would question whether you're safe with me? Kate: I would like to know that you're safe. Sonny: Karpov has no power in Port Charles. That's why he came to me to begin with. He's going to have to deal with Jason now, and if he doesn't, he's going to pack his bags and leave town. I don't care which, as long as I'm not involved and you're not worried. Kate: I want to know -- when Jason was here the other times, those two times - Sonny: Right. Kate: Was that about Karpov? Sonny: It's what I told you it was. I -- I talked to Jason, and I said, "Hey, you know what? I can't help you anymore. I don't want to get pulled back in this life, because I don't want to jeopardize what I have, because I'm starting a new life. That's important to me." Kate: I like the sound of that. Sonny: So, how many Faberge gift boxes do I have to buy to make up for the one you lost today? Lucky: Johnny is the last person you need to see right now. Lulu: Lucky, Johnny never did anything to hurt me. Everything bad that has happened has been my fault. Lucky: And you know what? You need to stop blaming yourself. Lulu: I'm the one that brought the gun into the PCPD. The only reason that Johnny grabbed it and took me and ran was because he knew I was going to do something crazy. Lucky: Even if that was the case, you cannot leave Shadybrook. Lulu: I can if a family member takes me. Lainey said so. Look, Johnny was nothing but wonderful to me when we were hiding out. Everything he did was to make sure that I was safe, and -- and when I started to lose it, all he cared about was making sure that I was ok. Look, Johnny has given up his freedom so that I can get better. For the first time in my life, somebody loves me enough to put me first. Lucky: I'm your brother. I am putting you first now. You can't leave here. You're not strong enough. Lulu: Ok, then bring Johnny to me. You can cut through all the red tape so that we can see each other, even if it's just for five minutes. Please, Lucky, please. Please do this for me. Bring Johnny here. Johnny: Have you talked to Nikolas? Has he seen Lulu? Claudia: Hi, Johnny. Yeah, I'm fine today. Johnny: I -- I need to know. Claudia: As far as I know, she's resting comfortably at the nuthouse. Johnny: You know less than I do. She called me this morning. She sounded really upset. Claudia: I don't really care about Lulu's upset, john. Why the hell would they even let you talk to her? Johnny: Because apparently, they have a lot more compassion for me than you do. Claudia: Johnny, use your head, ok? Any interaction that you have with that girl right now -- it's going to be bad for you at trial. Johnny: I don't care, not what the D.A. Thinks, not what you think. Lulu is in trouble, and I'm telling you, whoever you got to pressure, whoever you got to pay off, you find some way for me to see her. Claudia: Oh, my god. You just became our father.
