Carly: I know what it's like to be here, you know. You have to listen to your doctors, take your meds, no questions asked, do what you're told.

Lulu: Yeah.

Carly: But you need to be honest, lulu, especially with yourself.

Lulu: I guess you heard what happened at the pcpd.

Carly: I heard bits and pieces.

Lulu: I talked jason into saying that he was my brother and signing me out for a visit. I mean, I needed to see johnny, be with him for even a few minutes. And I was and it was wonderful. And then I saw, um, logan. I'd -- I've been seeing him. That's why I'm here. It's, uh -- I see him a lot.

Carly: And that's pretty terrifying, isn't it?

Lulu: Yeah, it is. I was very scared but I'm -- I'm, uh, I'm feeling better now.

Carly: Why do you think that is?

Lulu: I don't know. Lucky brought me back. I had my session with lainey and talked to some people.

Carly: What people?

Lulu: Other patients. It really helps. I know I'm going to get through this. I am a lot stronger than i thought I was.

Carly: That's great.

Lulu: I mean, I am, I'm scared, you know, and I'm scared about johnny, but the best thing that I can do is to focus on getting well. The sooner, the better.

Carly: I mean -- I know i shouldn't be so surprised that you're doing so well because you're strong and you're tough and you're resilient, but if you need someone to talk to, I want you to know you can trust me. I'm not going to judge you. And I promise you I won't tell anybody what you tell me.

Lulu: You really are the best.

Jerry: It's always a pleasure to be summoned by my little brother, but I promise no lectures about the state of your marriage, although you'd be a fool to let carly go. Why are you so grim? I mean, we're not going to get into another fist fight, are we?

Jax: What do you know about a russian gangster by the name of andrei karpov?

Jerry: My, my, my, so serious.

Jax: Come on, jerry.

Jerry: Why do you need to know?

Jax: Well, first of all, he's staying at my hotel, but you already knew that.

Jerry: What, do you want him to leave?

Jax: Would it be that easy?

Jerry: All right, what's the problem?

Jax: Well, carly's been, uh, flirting with him trying to get information for jason.

Jerry: Stop her immediately. Carly shouldn't speak to the man. Tell her not to be alone with him under any circumstances.

Jax: Any particular reason?

Jerry: The man is a sadist. Keep carly away from him. Women who cross karpov end up dead.

[Knock on door]

Alexis: I'm in a bad mood. Enter at your own risk.

Jerry: Oh, I take it your day hasn't improved.

Alexis: No, it hasn'T. It's gotten worse.

Jerry: Oh, come on, you can't work forever. I took the liberty of taking our picnic to my hotel where room service of any variety awaits.

Alexis: I can't, sorry, I can'T. I'm too busy.

Jerry: Uh, something happened.

Alexis: Has it? You tell me. Have you gotten into any kind of trouble that you're trying to charm me into looking the other way?

Jerry: Look, look, I know it's a common suspicion that my interest in you, you know, is for my own protection, but i thought we were past that so i don't understand why you're trying to avoid me.

Alexis: I'm not trying to avoid you. Jerry, I'm busy. I'm the D.A. I have a murder trial pending. I have a special prosecutor that's out of control, a mayor who's driving me insane. Every time I turn around, I'm tripping over one of the zaccharas. I'm worried about my nephew. I'm worried about lulu. Oh, yeah, and I have grave concerns about the safety of my children. Avoiding you isn't even something that I can think of at the moment.

Jerry: Look, look, I appreciate the strain you're under. I'm well aware of the forces you're working against, but, you know, I would -- I would be honored if you would accept that my presence, however scandalous, does protect you in a hostile environment. I mean, all the monsters are not under your bed these days, darling.

Alexis: That's because one of them is in it.

Jerry: I see. Ok.

Alexis: God, I'm so -- I didn't mean to say that. I really didn'T.

Jerry: No, no, no, that's fine. Get some sleep. I'll -- I'll check in tomorrow.

Sam: Yeah, I'm just, uh -- oh, I'm so glad you understand. I don't want to bring another shipment in if I'm off my game a little bit. No, it's healing. It's healing. I think it'll be fine in a day or two. Ok, bye-bye.

Lucky: Thanks. I really needed you tonight.

Sam: You know, I used to get so worried when my brother was in the hospital. And it's scary and frustrating, but I think lulu's going to be ok. She knows you love her. She's probably fast asleep right now.

Lucky: May angels on the wings of night, watch over you till morning light.

Sam: What?

Lucky: My mom used to say that to me and my sister when we were falling asleep. I don't even know why I thought of it.

Sam: Oh, I think it's because you love them both so much.

Matt: The surgery was a success. Everything went very well.

Maxie: Epiphany, how did the surgery really go?

Matt: Oh, yes, by all means, get a second opinion, especially from a nurse. After all, I'm only the surgeon who saved the man's life, but what do I know?

Epiphany: Matthew hunter is one of the most annoying and arrogant residents I have seen in a long time, but he is still a doctornd therefore, deserves our respect. Your constant badgering in the O.R. Was a major problem. So from now on, you will give him the respect he deserves, as will my entire staff. Do I make myself perfectly clear?

Nadine: Yes.

Epiphany: As for his surgery, dr. Hunter did a fine job. Mr. Spinelli should be up and about and into his usual antics in no time.

Maxie: Good. I'm glad that you were there.

Epiphany: Just doing my job.

Maxie: Is it ok if I see him?

Epiphany: He's resting, but be brief.

Nadine: You know, epiphany's pretty upset with me, but i would have felt ten kinds of awful if the surgery had gone wrong because of me.

Leyla: I'm not sure I could have forgiven you, either.

Spinelli: Ah, my fondest of dreams.

Maxie: You're not dreaming, and you're not dead. I'm definitely not angel material.

Spinelli: The jackal begs to differ.

Maxie: Please, just sleep, spinelli, ok? I'll be here.

Carly: Hi. I got here as soon as I could. I couldn't just walk out on lulu.

Jax: I checked out andrei karpov. I spoke with jerry. And get this, my brother actually went pale when i mentioned that you were flirting with him. He said that the man is dangerous, especially toward women.

Carly: I know that. Jason already told me.

Jax: Oh.

Carly: One woman flew off a building somehow, and the other woman died of mysterious circumstances.

Jax: Well, that's just great that you already know that, then that's wonderful. Why do you always go running to the most dangerous situation that you can possibly find? And don't say it's because i walked out.

Carly: Can you please not do this?

Jax: And just because I can't figure out a way to stay in this marriage, doesn't mean that I'm going to watch you risk your life, carly. I mean, did you even think about morgan or me?

Carly: Can we please not have this fight, right now? Please?

Ric: What the hell?

Claudia: Get dressed. Claire: And I thought corporate clients were demanding.

Claudia: He's going to take a rain check.

Ric: No, no, no, no, he's not. Get -- get the hell out of here.

Claudia: Johnny got caught. He's in lockup and scott baldwin is threatening to send him to pentonville, so --

Ric: Yeah, trevor can handle it.

Claudia: We had a deal. Do you remember? Hmm? You get johnny acquitted, and you can have whatever you want from me.

Elizabeth: His fever's spiking.

Matt: We'll get him on ampicillin for the fever and, uh, check his vitals every 15.

Elizabeth: Yes, doctor.

Maxie: 15, why every 15? Spinelli needs rest to recuperate.

Matt: Oh, yeah, that's fine. Let's just let his fever go up, and he can go into convulsions and then die.

Maxie: Listen to me, you selfish jerk, if something happens to my friend and I can trace it back to you, you're life as you know it will be over.

[Knock on door]

Jerry: Sam.

Lucky: Ignore him.

Sam: No, I can'T.

[Knock on door]

Sam: I'll be right there. Hold on. Maybe I can make him tell me something incriminating.

Lucky: No, no, it's a bad idea.

Sam: Come on, lucky, you can hide over there. We're supposed to be broken up. Let's go.

Jerry: Don't expect me to stand out here all night.

Sam: What?

Jerry: When did you become so concerned about your mother's sex life?

Sam: Oh, it's late, go away.

Jerry: Now, you see, things were going quite well between alexis and I, and now I sense this change.

Sam: Do you? Well, maybe my mother's finally starting to see you for who you really are.

Jerry: You see, it was very rude of you to interrupt our little picnic.

Sam: Well, you are the worst thing that ever happened to my mother, and I wish you would just leave her alone.

Jerry: Oh, so you can have me for yourself?

Sam: What are you talking about?

Jerry: That would be a really interesting turn of events.

Sam: Oh, my mother is too good for you.

Jerry: And you're not? We recognized each other from the very start, didn't we?

Sam: Oh, did we?

Jerry: Yes. You've evolved, so have I, but the core is still the same. Heroics aside, you'd stop at nothing to get what you want, and you still don't understand why people get so upset about it.

Sam: I'm not like that anymore.

Jerry: Oh, because you've gotten better at hiding it. I think that you love the dark side as much as I do.

Sam: Maybe.

Jerry: You know, we've played this dart a few times, haven't we? And now we've come so close.

Sam: Nothing is going to happen between you and I as long as you're with alexis, so maybe it's time for you to choose.

Jerry: Mm, sweet sam. Sexy sam. How far are you willing to take this?

Carly: I'll let you know when I'm available to be scolded.

Jax: Carly, hey. I love you, but I won't apologize for being worried about the dangerous choices you make.

Carly: I wish you could believe in me. You know, I wish you could be glad that I'm strong and resilient because not everyone's made that way, jax. Some people break and stay broken.

Jax: What happened?

[Carly sighs]

Jax: Hmm?

Carly: I thought that I was going to see lulu scared and sad, but she wasn'T. I mean, I -- I thought she was going to be too sedated to talk. No, she was happy. She was happy, and she was going on and on and on about hope and how everything was going to be ok. She was going to be fine. She was going to get better so she could go help johnny. It's one complete delusion.

Jax: I'm sorry.

Carly: I'm so afraid that she's going to end up like laura, trapped in her own body, just like michael. And like michael, she's going to be alone, lost, and just gone.

Ric: Well, it was fun while it lasted. Claire: Mm, very, but there will be other times.

Ric: I'm sorry. You know how clients are, especially when you're on retainer. Claire: One time I had this client track me all the way down to -- it's along story for another day. It was hilarious.

Ric: I'm looking forward to it.

Claudia: You know, I would be happy to throw in a couple of c-notes if you'll, uh, hurry it up. Claire: Oh, my god. She thinks I'm a hooker.

Ric: Uh, yeah, claire's a partner in a corporate law firm in midtown manhattan. Claire: I can't wait to tell them down at the harvard club.

Ric: No, don't you dare. That's not nice, come on. Claire: Mm, ciao.

Ric: Ok. Claire: And, um, whatever she's paying you, it isn't enough.

[Ric chuckles]

Ric: Take care. I'm allowed to have a personal life.

Claudia: Yeah, ok, well, so's my brother, and he's going to have one.

Ric: How did you track me down?

Claudia: Does it matter? I don't think it does.

[Claudia chuckles]

Claudia: I'm going to give you what you want after you earn it, so get dressed because we have work to do.

Lulu: Mom? Mom, it's me. Ok, that's ok. You said this was going to happen, so -- I just wanted to say that I, uh, love you. Hi.

Laura: It's all right. I was just resting.

Lulu: I can leave if you want.

Laura: No, no, being with you is the best medicine I could possibly have.

Lulu: Me, too.

Laura: Mm, I'm getting stronger.

[Lulu sighs]

Laura: And that feels good.

Lulu: I'm getting stronger, too.

Laura: Good.

Lulu: We're going to get better and we're going to show them, right?

Laura: Oh, yes, yes, we will.

Lulu: I just wanted to say good night.

Laura: Aw, come here.

Laura: Do you remember when you were a little girl? I used to rock you in that big chair in the living room.

Lulu: Mm-hmm, I remember.

Laura: You would fight sleep for as long as you possibly could.

[Laura chuckles]

Laura: You were so afraid that you might miss something. But then you finally let your eyes close.

Lulu: Because you would always say the same thing.

Laura: Mm. May angels on the wings of night, watch over you until the morning light.

Laura: Good night, sweet daughter. You can rest now. Everything's going to be all right.

Lulu: Good night, mommy.
