[Italian wedding music playing] spinelli: Stone cold.
[Clears throat]
[music stops]
spinelli: Did the most recent shipment arrive unmolested?
Jason: Yes.
Spinelli: Good, good. If you were wondering what i was doing there --
jason: No, i really wasn't wondering what --
spinelli: If the jackal is to escort the fair maximista to mr. Sir's wedding then, you know, i got -- i got to brush up on the old terpsichore, you know.
Jason: Ok, listen. I need -- i need you to do some research for me.
Spinelli: Yes. Yes, the jackal is at your service. What are we researching? Comrade karpov, anthony zacchara?
Jason: Actually, it's -- it's personal.
Olivia: Perfect. Holy crap. Holy -- sorry, sister.
Sister: It's quite all right.
Olivia: It's just i'm a little keyed up. I'm on the way to see an old boyfriend marry my cousin.
Kate's voice: I had the worst fight with olivia today. She acts like i stole something from her.
Sonny: How's the seating chart?
Kate: Um -- it's not good.
Sonny: Why?
Kate: There's so many people who hate each other, and then others who don't know each other at all. God forbid someone drinks too much and they become belligerent.
Sonny: You all right?
Kate: Yeah, fine. I'm fine, right? On friday i'm going to be standing at the altar with the man of my dreams.
Sonny: Is there another bad omen, kate?
Kate: Why do i keep seeing them? Is it me? Am i afraid to get married or am i just terrified something's going to prevent it?
Carly: You have to let me know if you're going to have that dress ready in time, because i'll go down to manhattan and get another one. All right. I have to have a fabulous dress for the wedding. Thanks.
Jax: You can't seriously be considering going to sonny and kate's wedding.
spinelli: Behold. Preliminary results of the jackal's cyber handiwork.
Jason: Yeah, looks good.
Spinelli: You know, the jackal's heart rejoices at stone cold's request. Clearly, signing the master up for online dating proved most beneficial.
Jason: Ok, online dating had nothing to do with this.
Spinelli: Au contraire. Just the -- the thought of sorting through comely strangers to find a potential partner made stone cold realize his ongoing attachment to the maternal one.
Jason: Spinelli.
Spinelli: It is fate, stone cold. It is fate, a love that cannot be denied, much like that of anthony and cleopatra, odysseus and penelope, dante and beatrice, lady and the tramp.
Jason: Ok, i appreciate your enthusiasm here, but i get --
spinelli: Just to think -- just to think that the jackal played a key role in your romantic destiny. Stone cold's wise choice will open a door to -- to a wide spectrum of emotional adventure. Just imagine the moonlight on the maternal one's face, the joy in her eyes.
Jason: Ok, i need some more research, please.
Spinelli: Right. Results wait anon for this monumental matter, the results of which will bode well for happy endings everywhere.
[Kate sighs]
kate: I'm just being silly. I'm just thinking a lot about family and -- you realize i'm not getting married with nonna's necklace? I mean, i haven't thought about that in forever. I don't know why i'm thinking about it now.
Sonny: Well, because you're marrying the boy you loved in high school, and weddings were a big deal in the old neighborhood.
Kate: Do you remember carlo and angela's --
sonny: Wedding parties, dancing in the street.
Kate: Yeah. I don't think anyone's going to be doing that at ours.
Sonny: I'll do it, if you want to do it.
Kate: No, it's just, you know, a celebration from another life.
Sonny: Connie falconeri's life.
Kate: That necklace was from sicily. Nonna's great grandfather gave it to her great grandmother the night before their wedding. Nonna was the fourth generation to wear that necklace. She brought it over to america, and all the falconeri brides have worn it.
Sonny: We will track down the damn necklace, kate.
Kate: No. I'm just being nostalgic, that's all.
Sonny: Tradition's important.
Kate: I'm not a falconeri girl anymore.
Sister: Am i making you nervous, dear?
Olivia: No, no. Well, yeah. Yeah, just a second. I went to a catholic high school. Sitting next to a nun, it just kind of pushes a lot of adolescent buttons, you know?
Sister: I taught at a catholic high school.
Olivia: Oh, yeah?
Sister: I assume you broke a few of the rules?
Olivia: Where do i begin? I rolled my skirt up about a foot too high. I wore makeup. I ditched class. I hung out by the front gates talking to boys. I didn't smoke, though. I was a swimmer, couldn't be short of breath. Plus, i hated the taste, so... Sister: Girls like you were always a challenge. You had such potential, but it was a constant struggle to try to keep you focused.
Olivia: Well, i guess, you know, i could have paid a little more attention. Maybe learned a couple more things. But, hey, you know what? No regrets. I'm happy the way my life turned out, right?
Sister: No wrong turns along the way?
Olivia: Well, there is one pretty close call. You know that old boyfriend i was telling you about? He was trouble. Man, if i were to have stayed with him my life would have been a nightmare. But i didn't. Thank God. Right, sister?
Lulu: Can you come see me today?
Johnny: I don't want to interfere with the work you're doing with dr. Winters.
Lulu: Please, i really need to see you. Something happened.
Johnny: What?
Lulu: I can't really explain it over the phone. I just -- i know that you're going to understand. At first i thought it meant that i was crazy, that it was something really bad, but it's actually not like that at all.
Johnny: Well, have you talked about it with dr. Winters?
Lulu: It's different when i'm with you. Please, please. Can you come?
Johnny: Ok.
Lulu: Thank you. I love you.
Johnny: I love you, too.
Claudia: Let me guess. Lulu?
Johnny: Don't start.
Claudia: Ok, i'll make you a deal. I won't start if you won't see her.
Johnny: She needs me.
Claudia: Ok, john. She always needs you. She's always going to need you. Hey, you know what? I put my life on the line for you. I got up on that stand and i lied. The very least you can do is hear me out.
[Knocking on door]
nikolas: Hey.
Lulu: Hi. What a nice surprise to see you.
Nikolas: How are you feeling?
Lulu: If you're asking if i'm having imaginary conversations with our mother, the answer is no.
Nikolas: Here.
Lulu: What?
Nikolas: They're cookies from bobbie.
Lulu: Sugar cookies.
Nikolas: Yeah, she said that mom used to make them for you when you were little.
Lulu: Yeah, yeah. She used to ask me to be her assistant chef. It was her way of keeping me busy when dad was gone and i was sad.
Nikolas: Well, she was helping you then, and she's still helping you. Isn't she?
Lulu: I really thought she recovered. I just -- i can't believe that was all in my head.
Nikolas: The mind can do some strange things to you when you miss someone you love.
Lulu: Well, it was mom -- or the illusion of mom that made me face what really happened to logan, and she told me not to be guilty or feel victimized and --
nikolas: Have you -- have you seen logan since the last time we spoke?
Lulu: No, no. Not once. I'm really -- i am in a better place, and i just need to focus on getting better and living the life that mom would want me to live.
Nikolas: And you'll get it, lulu. You're stronger than you think, you know?
Lulu: That's exactly what johnny says to me. He's coming to visit me today.
Nikolas: Oh, he is?
Lulu: Yeah.
Nikolas: His idea or --
lulu: Mine. I mean, he -- he didn't want to, you know, mess up my therapy or anything, but i need to see him.
Nikolas: I think that's a really bad idea.
Sonny: I don't know if you know this, but i was always jealous of your family because you guys were always so close. It must have been real hard to leave, huh?
Kate: Um, mm-hmm.
[Sonny laughs]
kate: I didn't go home much after i started at princeton. Every summer i'd get an internship in manhattan, and then after i graduated, i landed my entry level position at "couture."
Sonny: That's when you met trevor.
Kate: Yeah. He started introducing me to people, and he takes way too much credit. I am the one who did all the work. I was so determined to make it in the fashion industry. Nothing was going to stop me.
Sonny: How often did you go home?
Kate: I don't know -- twice a year? The last time i went home it was for nonna's 80th birthday. We were going to plan a big party for her, and i wanted to take everyone to the city. I wanted to take them to dinner and manhattan and i could finally afford it, but i had a big fight with olivia and i swore i'd never go back. It was the last time i saw my parents alive.
Sonny: Sorry.
Kate: You know, out of everyone, it was my mom. She's the only who would ever tell me she was proud of me. I could call her on the phone, and i did sometimes, and nobody ever knew -- no one. Not even my father. She's the only one i could tell if i got a promotion or i got to go to a party or some boss was really being difficult, and she always gave me the same advice. She always said, "do not let anyone take advantage of you. Be proud of yourself, because you're as good as anyone else. In fact, you're better than most." I'd buy her a present every time i went to paris. I don't know, something special i thought she'd appreciate, and i never took the train to bring it to her. It would have been so easy. I'd always mail it. I -- i really miss her. I miss all of them.
Sonny: Hey.
Spinelli: Ah. Everything required for stone cold's excellent adventure will be delivered within the hour.
Jason: All right. Thanks.
Spinelli: It is indeed my pleasure. Might i ask, though -- if online dating was not the catalyst, what did prompt stone cold's sudden and romantic change of heart?
Jason: Well, i've always wanted to be with elizabeth. Did you know i asked her to marry me right before michael got shot?
Spinelli: No, i wasn't aware of that.
Jason: And i thought i had to end things permanently with her.
Spinelli: But brave elizabeth disagrees?
Jason: I mean, she thinks whatever time we can have in secret is enough.
Spinelli: This is a bold and important step that you will never regret.
diane: You owe me a raise. I am privy to certain information regarding a strategic piece of waterfront property, but we have to act very fast.
Spinelli: No, cease and desist. Stone cold is otherwise engaged.
