Tuesday 10/7 Part 1

Claudia: Uh, a little busy here, John.

Ric: Yeah, could you come back later and maybe call first?

Johnny: So this is what you had to do to get him to defend me, huh? Sleep with the poor bastard?

Kate: Sonny's not out of the mob?

Olivia: Honey, you know what? You know me, when I get upset, I just start running my mouth -

Kate: How do you know, Olivia?

Olivia: Connie -

Kate: Do you know -

Olivia: I've been out of your life for 20 years, Connie or Kate, whatever your name is. I can't even keep them straight all the time. I just need you to know that you need to keep calm and not stress out.

Kate: Just tell me, Olivia. I need to know the truth.

Olivia: Ok, um, I heard Sonny talking since you've been shot, and, um, he says he's going to go to war over you. Jason: If you're working for Sonny, why tell me?

Cody: When I was approached to turn against you, I agreed so that I could be on the inside and get information, find out how many people Sonny's gotten to, how far he's taken this.

Jason: And where it ends.

Sonny: How could you possibly help me avenge Kate? What kind of resources are you offering?

Anthony: It's simple. I'll hand my power over to you. You can run my organization as you see fit.

Nadine: A little chip in the bark, that's what Aunt Raylene would call it. No damage to the tree.

Nikolas: Well, Raylene didn't see you fall.

Nadine: It doesn't even hurt -- much.

Elizabeth: Nadine? Hey. Oh, my god, what happened to you?

Nadine: No, it's no big deal.

Nikolas: She fell down the stairs at the elm street pier and landed on her face. She could have a serious head injury.

Nadine: No, I do not need a wheelchair.

Nikolas: Sit down. You're dizzy. You're disoriented, come on.

Nadine: Look, I'm fine now.

Leyla: We need to make sure.

Nikolas: Yeah, x-rays, C.T. Scans, whatever you need to do, I'll take care of it.

Leyla: Let's get her examined first.

Nadine: The only thing wrong with me is that I'm a klutz.

Nikolas: Well, after they've completely checked you out, I'll give you a ride home, ok?

Nadine: You don't have to do that. You've already been subjected to enough for today.

Nikolas: I want to.

Leyla: Ok, it's settled. Off we go.

Elizabeth: Oh, that poor girl. I can't believe that happened to her.

Nikolas: I know.

Elizabeth: On top of everything else.

Nikolas: Yeah, I mean, she called my name, I turned around, and down she went. When I offered to help her, she just -- well, you heard her just now. She wants me to keep my distance from her.

Elizabeth: Are you sure you're not the one who fell and hit your head?

[Nikolas scoffs]

Johnny: Ric knew that if he botched my case, dad would have his head on a spike so you wanted to give him some incentive to defend me and save my life. And you promised to sleep with him and probably promised to work with him after the fact, am I right?

Claudia: That's partly true, but that's not -

Ric: Nobody asked your opinion.

Johnny: Wait, wait, wait. Do you think she would have looked at you twice if my life hadn't been on the line?

Ric: Guess what? Your life isn't on the line, John. You're free.

Johnny: Yeah, that's right. The trial's over and I can't be tried again for the same crime, so why are you doing this? Why are you keeping him on a string?

Claudia: That's not what this is about.

Johnny: You already cut yourself wide open on that witness stand for me, lied to the whole world by claiming that you had sex with that pig Logan Hayes. Now you're going to sleep with this piece of garbage when all he wants is to be in on the inner circle and maybe grab some on the side.

Ric: Ok, you know what? You got your freedom, John, and your sister and I made that happen. Now, you don't get to have an opinion about how we did that, and you definitely don't get to have an opinion about what we do with each other now.

Kate: Did Sonny say those words? Did he say he's going to war?

Olivia: Honey, you're coming out of a major surgery right now. The doctors need to know that you're awake, so I -

Kate: Olivia.

Olivia: Honey -

Kate: Tell me what you know.

Olivia: Take it easy. Just take it easy because -

Kate: Olivia, the truth can't be worse than what I'm imagining. Just, please, tell me.

Olivia: Ok. There is some guy named Karpov, some Russian gangster guy. He's come -- trying to get a foothold in Port Charles.

Kate: I know. I know who Karpov is. Why would he want to shoot me?

Olivia: Well, Sonny had some kind of business deal going with him. He backed out at the last minute. Karpov had you shot to send a message that he doesn't like being double-crossed.

Kate: I don't -- I don't know why Sonny would say all this in front of you.

Olivia: Well, Sonny says a lot without opening his mouth. Plus, I got the confirmation and the details from someone else.

Kate: Who?

Olivia: Carly.

Kate: Then it's a lie.

Jason: Sonny's moving a lot faster than I thought.

Cody: He's reaching out to the other lieutenants, but that doesn't mean that any of them are going to cooperate.

Jason: Well, you know what? Those men have a lot of reason to have blind loyalty to Sonny.

Cody: I get that I might be new at this and that people might be careful about what they say to me, but working for Bernie, I make a lot of deliveries. I come into contact with all the other lieutenants. My impression? They like the way you're running things. You're stable. You're reliable. You keep things low-key.

Jason: Well, sometimes that's a mistake. I mean, Sonny's aggressive, but it's worked for him, you know? There's guys like Karpov and Zacchara, they make the men nervous. And if Sonny promises to get rid of them, he's going to have people willing to listen to him.

Spinelli: Oh, sorry for my prolonged absence. Apologies. I'm sorry, it's clear you and the valiant vet were engrossed -
Jason: I need you to run a phone trace for me. I want you to find out which lieutenants Sonny has been talking to in the last 48 hours.

Sonny: My bride was shot right before my eyes. It was a terrible thing, but the anger hasn't made me stupid, Anthony. There's no way in hell you would share your power with me.

Anthony: No, not share. You can run things.

Sonny: You're wasting my time, old man.

Anthony: I don't have it to waste, Sonny. I am an old man, paralyzed in a wheelchair. I've spent half my life chasing after the crazy thoughts in my mind and the other half trying to get them under control. That takes its toll. I don't have to tell you that. I have to start planning for my future.

Sonny: If you're ready to step down, why don't you turn things over to Johnny or Claudia? They're your blood.

Anthony: All right, if you were in my place, which one of my progeny would you pick to carry on what it took me a lifetime to build? Johnny's too young, too impulsive. And Claudia is Claudia, ambitious just like her mother was. She's too treacherous to be an effective leader, not that I think that any woman could be. You know what it takes to be in charge -- the sacrifices, the tough decisions that have to be made. I need someone with your experience and you need my organization. That's the only way you're going to get your revenge.

Elizabeth: So Nadine fell down the stairs and landed flat on her face, as you so delicately put it. I'm sure she was mortified.

Nikolas: It could've happened to anyone.

Elizabeth: But it didn't. It happened to her in front of you, a man who's been keeping her at arm's length for months and who has now finally decided to open the door to many more wonderful possibilities.

Nikolas: You have this lavish, romantic scenario in your -

Elizabeth: Nikolas, she likes you.

Nikolas: What? She practically ran out of the room the morning -- the morning after.

Elizabeth: Ok, I get it.

Nikolas: I just need to respect her boundaries right now.

Elizabeth: Ok, you've rescued Nadine. You've taken her to your island chateau and nursed her back to health. Things became intimate. I don't know, it's about the most romantic scenario I can think of. I hardly doubt she just up and left without a glance backwards. She's pretending not to care because she cares too much.

Nikolas: Didn't even stay for breakfast, Liz.

Elizabeth: You made her breakfast?

Nikolas: No, Alfred brought it in like he always does.

Elizabeth: Oh, god.

Nikolas: And then he and I started talking business, and the next thing I know -

Elizabeth: Wait, wait, wait. Hold on. Nadine is laying in your bed after what was probably the most wonderful night of her life and you're talking business with Alfred? Do you think maybe that's why she feels like, I don't know, part of the routine?

Nikolas: I don't think I did anything to make her feel that way.

Elizabeth: Well, not intentionally. But, Nikolas, your world is a mystery to her. She so desperately just wants to fit in. And every time she tries, she falls flat on her face.

Nikolas: I just want her to be herself.

Elizabeth: Well, don't tell me. Tell her.

Johnny: Hey, door's that way. And don't ever come back and don't touch my sister -

Ric: Show some respect, ok? A little gratitude while you're at it. Your sister here -- thank you -- perjured herself on the stand to make sure that you didn't go to prison. Now you're acting like a moron.

Johnny: Yeah, you couldn't wait to take advantage of it, could you?

Claudia: John, come -- you know, that's ridiculous. Nobody takes advantage of me. You of all people know that.

Johnny: You said so yourself. You said so yourself, that you promised to sleep with the guy.

Claudia: Ok, yeah, that was before he got you acquitted. I didn't actually have to go through with it. I wanted to.

Anthony: This is a business proposition. You get the men and the resources to hit back at Karpov.

Sonny: What's in it for you?

Anthony: When I announce I'm stepping down, that giant sucking sound you hear will be the whole world rushing in to fill the vacuum and steal a piece of my life. Now, if I say that I'm turning things over to Sonny Corinthos, you'll hear the collective sound of bowels constricting. Survival, that's what's in it for me. And insuring my legacy.

Sonny: I'll think about that.

Anthony: You will, and this is the stuff of legend. Sonny, I don't kid myself. I know it will come with a hefty price tag, but I'm gambling it will be worth it, starting with these damn Russians. If I was in a stronger position, I'd have already gotten rid of Karpov. I was hoping Jason would take action. I'll be honest with you. He doesn't exactly inspire confidence now that he's in a leadership role. He refuses to do what needs to be done.

Sonny: It's interesting how this conversation now is becoming an anti-Jason, you know, speech.

Anthony: He stole your business. How could you be defending him?

Sonny: I don't want to do this! End of conversation. I'm no hired gun. You can't pay me enough to run your organization.

Anthony: You don't have a lot options. Karpov's well protected and you can't take him down on your own.

Sonny: You don't think so? Watch me.

Olivia: Hey. Dr. Drake looked pretty pleased with himself. What did he say?

Kate: Oh, just that I have you to thank, not only for being alive, but also being able to walk because you listened to his recommendations for surgery.

Olivia: I think the guy with the scalpel deserves some of the credit. And Sonny.

Kate: Wow. You came dangerously close to saying something nice about my fiancée.

Olivia: Oh, come on, you know the thing with Sonny is never black and white. Even back in the day, when he started running with Joe Scully, you could always look in those dark soulful eyes of his and sort of convince yourself that maybe what he was doing wasn't all that bad. But when he came to see me the other day, talking all this love and conviction, what got lost in that conversation is the reason that you got gunned down at the altar, Connie. Sonny lied when he said he was out of the mob. He lied every time he made a promise to you. He lied every time he talked about the normal life that you re going to have. Every time -

Kate: Enough. Enough, Olivia. You're trying to turn me away from Sonny, and I know why. Because you have his son. You know that song? "Time in a bottle"?

Olivia: Why you gotta keep bringing my son into this?

Kate: It's always been there, Olivia, between us. It colors everything that you think, everything that you say, the fact that Dante is Sonny's child, too.

Olivia: You know what? As far as I'm concerned, Dante's father could have been any one of three or four different guys I was going with back then.

Kate: Oh, really, Olivia? How many of those guys did you actually sleep with? It was only Sonny.

Olivia: You listen to me, Connie. I will cut my tongue out before I tell Dante that Sonny is his father, ok? And whether you stay with him or you walk away like you should have done a long time ago, I expect you to keep your promise.

Kate: I made that promise when we were teenagers.

Olivia: You swore on the blessed virgin -

Kate: A lot has changed, Olivia.

Olivia: And all the saints -

Kate: It was a long time ago. The family hated Sonny. We are not teenagers anymore.

Olivia: Connie, if Sonny knew the truth, if he knew that Dante was his son, he would want to meet him and he would drag him into this life.

Kate: No, he wouldn't Olivia. Sonny is a good and loving father.

Olivia: He got you shot, Connie -

Kate: That is Carly's version.

Olivia: With a hollow-point bullet designed to do the most possible damage. He almost got you killed, almost paralyzed. What do you think about that, Connie? What do you think? No more swaning around in the latest fashions. No more climbing up the stairs or dancing or walking around. You'd be stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of your life because of Sonny's lies.

Kate: Stop blaming Sonny.

Sonny: She should blame me, so should you. It's my fault.

Spinelli: These are the names of stone cold's loyal lieutenants -- or the lieutenants whose loyalty is in question. Each received a call from Mr. Sir within the last 48 hours.

Cody: Sonny -- Mr. Sir?

Spinelli: Correct.

Jason: What about these names right here, the last three you checked?

Spinelli: They received multiple calls.

Jason: Ok, I want you to go back to the penthouse right now.

Spinelli: First, could I humbly request a word? A brief word?

Cody: I have some calls to make.

Spinelli: It would seem that stone cold plans to thwart Mr. Sir's takeover attempt by force, if necessary.

Jason: Ok, I'm not going to talk to about this stuff. I don't want you involved any more than you already are.

Spinelli: Listen, I do not wish to pry, and I'm not speaking as a business associate, but as a friend. It appears you would enter into this fight with a heavy heart that you do not wish to battle with a man who has been your friend and mentor that you do not wish to run this organization at all.

Jason: Some things you can't change.

Spinelli: Stone cold is doing what he thinks is his duty, but he doesn't have to. You can just stop. Let Mr. Sir do what he wants. All you have to do is step aside.

Elizabeth: Nadine is still with the doctor. She'll be out soon.

Nikolas: Maybe I shouldn't be here, then.

Elizabeth: What? Isn't that what we've been talking about?

Nikolas: It's about what she wants.

Elizabeth: You leaving would be the opposite of what she wants.

Nikolas: I just don't understand why it has to be so difficult and complicated.

Elizabeth: Oh, so now you only want to be in easy and uncomplicated relationships?

Nikolas: Haven't you ever felt that something was so impossible that maybe it just wasn't meant to be?

Elizabeth: Yeah, you mean when two people have this amazing connection and circumstances keep pulling them apart? And then you finally decide to go for it, and disaster strikes?

Nikolas: Yeah, like that.

Elizabeth: Yeah, well, these little disasters are just inconveniences. You know, you can be with Nadine if you want. You just have to do one thing.

Nikolas: And what's that?

Elizabeth: Be honest with each other.

Nadine: I think fate's trying to tell me something.

Leyla: Yeah, it's telling you to watch where you're going, look before you run down stairs, and don't get so caught up in Nikolas that you don't see anything else.

Nadine: Maybe it's telling me I shouldn't be with Nikolas at all.

Leyla: So that's your world view, is it? We're all singled out for arbitrary pain and heartbreak?

Nadine: Well, aunt Raylene would say that tragedy is life's high colonic.

Leyla: Forget about aunt Raylene for a second and tell me this. Would you care if you never saw Nikolas again? Never talked to him or took those long rides on the island? Never slept with him again?

Johnny: You really want to sleep with this guy, son of a man you despise.

Ric: Ok, John, I'm not my father.

Johnny: Don't bet on it.

Ric: Oh, really? And I saved you from lethal injection -- isn't that nice?

Johnny: Don't you see how twisted this is? Ric and dad are suddenly in good favor, and you think that it's going to give you some sort of leverage to sleep with him?

Ric: You know what, John? I think you're over-thinking this right now, ok? Claudia and I enjoy each other. What we do is none of your business.

Johnny: My sister getting hurt is my business.

Ric: Oh.

Johnny: You're using her, and I'm not going to let that happen.

Claudia: I don't need you to protect me, honey.

Johnny: Get out and don't come back

Ric: You want to punish yourself, that's fine. Go ahead. You're ignoring everybody's advice to not get involved with Lulu Spencer. You bring her into your life, and then -- now she's losing her mind, ok, deal with it. You know what
