Part 1

Det. Harper: The arson squad found him on their second walkthrough. They taped it off and called it in. Forensics and the coroner's team are on their way.

Alexis: Any idea who it is?

Det. Harper: Well, everyone known to be in the cannery has been accounted for. He's probably just some homeless guy who climbed into the cannery and got caught in the explosion.

Alexis: I hope it's that simple. Why don't you have forensics do a complete workup, put a rush on the I.D. When we figure out who the man is, maybe we can figure out why he died.

[Det. Harper sighs]

Marianna: When you called, I was sure it was about Randy.

Ric: I don't want to talk about that, ok? I don't want you to think about it.

Marianna: I can't stop. I couldn't concentrate at work. I had nightmares last night -- just seeing Randy lying there dead.

Ric: Ok, you got to stop doing this to yourself, ok? You got nothing to feel guilty about. You are not responsible for Randy's death.

Marianna: Yeah.

Monica: How could I have been such a fool to think for one second that maybe you have come over here out of decency or respect? No, of course not -- you came to accuse your mother of --

Jason: No, I just came to tell you that -- that I know the truth about what happened, and --

Monica: Oh, you want to talk about truth? Well, then let's talk about the truth of the blood that's on your hands, Jason. And I don't mean just the blood of the people that you have killed in the name of your --

Jason: Monica, I have -- I have the proof. You're the one who ran down Sam.

Jax: You know, Sonny, you should call first before you show up.

Michael: It's ok.

Jax: No, it's not ok.

Michael: Everything's going to be fine -- tell them.

Sonny: I was just explaining to Michael that I'm going to be able to spend more time with him and Morgan. Things are going to be different, safer, that's all.

Michael: Which would make you feel better, especially now.

Carly: Michael --

Sonny: What do you mean, "especially now"?

Michael: They didn't tell you?

Sonny: Tell me what?

Michael: Mom and Jax are going to have a baby.

Jason: There's a construction site on Tuckerton near where Sam was hit, and their security cameras cover that stretch of road.

Monica: Wow -- Sonny gave you time off from your mob enforcement duties to investigate your mother?

Jason: I -- I didn't know what I was going to find on that video.

Monica: Oh, but you were really ready to believe it, weren't you? Especially after the ridiculous accusations Tracy has made at the hospital, I'm sure you really wanted to believe it. Why, Jason? Why, after everything you have done to this family? Unless, of course, maybe you -- you want to divert suspicion from someone else, someone who is obviously more important than me?

Jason: Security footage shows that Sam was being hit, it was your car, you were driving.

Monica: Whew. I really hoped it had been a -- um -- a log or a guardrail or something.

Jason: You don't remember? Is it because you blacked out?

Monica: What if I say yes? Are you going to offer to cover it up for me?

Lucky: You're frowning. It makes you look worried.

[Elizabeth sighs]

Elizabeth: Lucky, I'm not really --

Lucky: It's over, ok?

Elizabeth: I don't really trust that Sam's not going to press charges against me for the hit-and-run.

Lucky: Sam just wants all this animosity to end.

Elizabeth: No, lucky, she wants you. I mean, come on, let's be honest. She knows it's not going to go over well -- she sends me to prison, takes the boys away from their mother.

Lucky: Give Sam a little credit. I mean, after all, you sat on this for weeks.

Elizabeth: To protect the truth about Jake's paternity. And I didn't want to come forward until I was absolutely sure.

Lucky: You know what? And I explained that to her, and she gets it. I was just hoping that you might show a little of the same understanding.

Elizabeth: Oh. So that's how it is now?

Lucky: Sam and I are going to give it another shot. We're going to take things slow, but eventually she's going to be around Cameron and Jake. I'm more than protective of those little boys, and I'm upset because what Sam did, but I know in my heart that she would never put them in danger again.

Elizabeth: Oh. Ok, I am grateful for things Sam said. I just wish she were the person you think she is.

Lucky: And that's not your problem.

Elizabeth: Well, it kind of is when you expect me to trust her.

Lucky: You know what? You're never going to let this go, are you?

Elizabeth: It's not just the children I'm thinking about.

Lucky: It's my life, my choice --

Elizabeth: I know.

Lucky: And I'm making it.

Nurse: Dr. Devlin's not answering his pages, any idea where he might be?

Claudia: All the time that I spent with you in Milan negotiating for Uncle Rudy to move your product, and you never mentioned that you were a doctor.

Ian: I'm sure there's quite a few things that I don't know about you.

Claudia: Yeah, but in my family, lies of omission are taken very seriously. Isn't there something in the Hippocratic Oath about first do no harm?

Ian: You know, if this is a negotiating ploy, my motives and ethical standards are off the table. Let's just keep it simple, shall we? I made you a pile of money before, I'll do it again -- if there's no complications.

Claudia: Such as?

Ian: How do we know Trevor's going to honor our deal?

Claudia: Trevor is just our lawyer. He does not run this family, Johnny does.

Ian: Johnny?

Claudia: Yeah.

Ian: Johnny put a shipment at the bottom of the harbor in a show of defiance directed at Trevor. I make it my business to know these things, Claudia.

Claudia: Johnny trusts my judgment, and he'll go with me on this.

Ian: Just to be on the safe side, I have a shipment available for transport in about a month, and I don't want Trevor involved in any way -- I don't even want him to know about it.

Claudia: That's not a problem. Trevor is on his way out.

Marianna: I knew Randy wouldn't just let me walk ay. I'm the reason why he came to Port Charles. I'm the reason why this happened to him.

Ric: Ok, but you didn't kill him.

Marianna: He left me a message to meet him at the warehouse.

Ric: Mm-hmm, and when you got there, he was already dead.

Marianna: You only have my word for that.

Ric: That's all I need, Marianna, ok? You're not capable of something like this.

Marianna: I let you drag the body away to make it look like Randy died in the explosion.

Ric: I didn't give you much of a choice, did I?

Marianna: Well, if you would've been caugh--

Ric: I am not going to let the man take more from you now. He took enough from you when he was alive.

Marianna: So I'm supposed to just enjoy a nice dinner with you and pretend this didn't happen?

Ric: No, what happened was that a man stole two years of your life. He told you lies and made promises to get you into this country, and then he messed with your immigration status, and you were trapped so that he could make whatever demands on you that he wanted, so that he could physically abuse you because he knew you couldn't go to the police.

Marianna: Well, I did this to myself, and I don't want you to pay for this.

Ric: Marianna, if I hadn't moved the body, then I would never have had the chance to see Carly, I would've never had the chance to help her.

Marianna: You saved her life.

Ric: Yeah, well, there was a time not too long ago that I -- I would've seen that as an opportunity to take advantage of, you know, to settle an old score. But I wasn't thinking about that.

Marianna: Because you're a good man.

Ric: No, I'm not, Marianna.

Marianna: Yes, you are.

Ric: I'm not. I haven't been a very good man for a very long time. I've been so wrapped up with this -- this hatred of my brother -- you know, wanting his approval or wanting to make him pay for what I thought he did. And even when Sonny did acknowledge what I had done -- however grudgingly -- I realized -- I realized I -- I didn't care what he thought. I'm free.

Marianna: Yeah.

Ric: Ok?

Marianna: Yeah.

Ric: We're free. Come on.

[Glasses clink]

Marianna: Yeah.

Carly: Michael -- um -- there's something we need to tell you, ok?

Michael: I know what you're going to say -- that this is for the grownups to work out. I just don't understand why you have to fight when you have so much to be happy about.

Carly: You're right, I do have a lot to be happy about, and I have a lot to be thankful for. But I think --

Morgan: Michael, Michael!

Michael: Hey.

Morgan: Mercedes said she'd take us to arcade.

Carly: Oh.

Mercedes: If that's all right?

Jax: Yeah, sure.

Carly: That's fine, yeah.

Mercedes: Come on, let's tie your shoes, let's go. All right, hurry.

[Door closes]

Sonny: Carly -- Carly? You lost the baby, didn't you?

Jax: Because of you.

Sonny: I'm sorry, Carly. I know nothing I can say can --

Jax: Oh, save your condolences, Sonny, they don't mean a damn thing.

Carly: Jax --

Sonny: Ok, you want to blame somebody, Jax? Blame me because, you know --

Jax: You are to blame, Sonny.

Sonny: Why?

Jax: You're the reason that Michael ran away. You're the reason that Michael was at the warehouse, and the reason that Carly was there when it blew up.

Carly: This isn't helping.

Jax: This baby, our baby, would still be alive if it wasn't for the violence in your life.

Carly: Ok, stop! Sonny's not to blame for the cannery explosion.

Jax: Huh. Right.

Carly: He's not. But you are to blame for what happened with Michael. How the hell could you not have told me he was trying to get his hands on a g?

Maxie: Hi, Ms. Howard's expecting me. Ok, I know you probably have people do this to you all the time -- come in and tell you that they love fashion, that it's in their blood, they want to be a part of that world, your world. Of course you do -- you're Kate Howard.

Kate: Yes, we all know who I am. And you are?

Maxie: Maxie -- Jones. I'm -- Jones, Maxie Jones, sorry.

Kate: Oh, Jones -- the police commissioner's daughter.

Maxie: Mm-hmm. I could change that, though -- the "Jones" part -- people change their names all the time.

Kate: Yes, but before you start reinventing yourself, perhaps you could explain exactly why you're here.

Maxie: I want to work for you. Oh, I want to learn from the best, and I heard you're starting a new magazine. I wanted to tell you you don't have to look for an assistant anymore because you've already found her.

Kate: And your qualifications?

Maxie: Fashion is my life?

Kate: Right -- it's easy to say. Let's see if you can back it up.

Monica: Don't panic -- I wasn't serious. It's just that all of the people that you have lied for, covered up for, I was just kind of wondering if you would offer to do the same for me. I just was curious as to where I stood.

Jason: You already tried to cover this up.

Monica: Oh, that was -- that was even before Sam. I mean, I've been going through this nasty lawsuit with Tracy. I didn't want to give her any more ammunition -- like me nodding off behind the wheel of a car because I was exhausted.

Jason: Monica, you were -- you were drinking.

Monica: Oh, is that what your sources say?

Jason: I don't -- I don't need anybody to tell me anything.

Monica: No. You know me so well.

Jason: You had to be drunk -- you wouldn't have driven off and left Sam in the road.

Monica: Well, Jason, can you blame me for drinking? You've taken everything away from me. You have put Sonny and that business above absolutely everything -- above A.J., above Alan -- who died waiting for you while you were doing Sonny's bidding -- and Emily -- Emily, who thought you were the sun and the moon and the stars and forgave you of every single thing. She died because Diego Alcazar wanted to get revenge on you because of what you did to his father. I don't have anything, Jason -- you've taken it. So you take -- take that surveillance tape, you do whatever you want to do with it, but just get out. Just get out.

Jason: You can hate me as much as you need to. I just want you to get help.

Monica: Get out.

Marianna: I told you I don't want you helping me this way.

Ric: Oh, you'd be helping me. Once I rebuild that waterfront property, it's going to need places to eat.

Marianna: Thank you -- so you just, like, hand it over to me to run?

Ric: It's not that easy to run a restaurant -- you know, I need somebody who knows what they're doing. But if you think that you can't handle it, that's fine.

Marianna: Hey, I am not afraid of hard work.

[Ric chuckles]

Ric: Think of it as an investor backing somebody that they believe in.

Marianna: Ok, I am going to draw up a business plan so you can see what you're investing in.

Ric: Ok.

[Marianna chuckles]

Marianna: And I'll design the interior and the menu -- regional foods from my part of the world, like things that my mother used to cook, like aripa, cachapa, teqno, platanitos -- well, if that's all right?

Ric: No, no, it's -- it's perfect.

[Marianna laughs]

Ric: You know, you never told me what your mom's name is.

Marianna: Alma Melina.

Ric: Alma Melina. Well, to Alma -- Alma's cocina.

Marianna: I don't remember ever being this happy.

Ric: Well, get used to it.

[Knock on door]

Ric: It's ok. Ahem. Ahem. Alexis, hi.

Alexis: Hi.

Ric: What's -- what's up?

Alexis: Hi. I'm sorry to come by unannounced.

Marianna: It's ok.

Alexis: I'm not going to be able to make it to Disney On Ice with the girls, so I thought you could use the tickets.

Ric: Oh, that's a shame -- work?

Alexis: The police pulled a body out of the water under the cannery.

Spinelli: The Jackal, though glad to be of service, I can't help but feel that my formidable cyber-skills are both a blessing and a curse.

Jason: Right, right, but you did -- you did a great job with is hit-and-run surveillance -- Spinelli: Yeah, but I shone the harsh spotlight of guilt on the mother of Stone Cold. What are you planning on doing with this information?

Jason: I have no idea, Spinelli. I mean, right now Monica's in a bad way, and I'm responsible for a lot of it. I don't want her to have to go through any more because of --

[Knock on door]

Sam: I got your message.

Spinelli: Uh -- yes. Salutations, goddess --

Sam: Yes.

Spinelli: Uh -- she who was formerly known as the goddess --

Sam: Yeah.

Spinelli: Your Everyday Hero-ness.

Sam: No, actually, formerly that, too. Yes, I have been replaced by a beauty queen tri-athlete named Tiffany. But, hey, that is show biz, yeah? Yeah. All right, it must be pretty important for you to want to be in the same room with me by choice, but then again, threats and blackmails are always more effective in person. I am assuming you want to keep me from pressing charges against Elizabeth for running me down, wrecking my hip, killing my career?

Jason: Elizabeth is not the person who hit you.

Alice: Mr. Cassadine here to see you, Dr. Q. Um -- how about I make you guys a fresh pot of tea?

Monica: No, that -- that's all right, Alice. Thank you. I'm really not in the mood for visitors, Nikolas.

Nikolas: No, no, this -- this isn't just a social call. There's something I'd like to discuss with you.

[Claudia hums]

Johnny: Don't you look pleased with yourself.

Claudia: Ha-ha! Goody -- company! Yay. I was just considering a few new redecorating ideas, wall-mountings -- Trevor's head.

[Johnny chuckles]

Johnny: Nah -- why have any reminders of that bastard?

Claudia: You make an excellent point, little brother. To us.

[Claudia giggles]

Claudia: A sweet little deal just fell into our laps today. I was contacted by an old associate that I used to do business with with Uncle Rudy, you know? He wants us to move a shipment for him.

Johnny: Sonny will see that as an act of aggression. He'll try to block us.

Claudia: If we had control of the Alcazar waterfront properties and piers, it would certainly help our position. If we can make that happen, though, I think --

Trevor: If you could make what happen?

Johnny: You're on a need-to-know basis.

Trevor: How many times do I got to tell you? You don't run this operation without me.

Claudia: You know, Trevor, you're right -- we do need your help. Um -- do you know a good taxidermist?

Carly: We're supposed to be working together as parents. You knew Michael was trying to get his hands on a gun. You knew he was upset, you knew he was confused, and you knew he wanted to protect his family. You should've told me and Jax about this. We could've worked together, we could've stopped this, Sonny!

Sonny: You're absolutely right. I should've -- I should've handled it differently.

Jax: No -- that would've meant acknowledging that I'm Michael's father, too, and that you've been a lousy role model. I mean, the kid thought that you solve problems with a gun. He thinks that people blowing up and people getting shot -- it's just part of everyday life.

Sonny: That's going to change.

Jax: Right, yeah -- you don't believe that any more than I do.

Sonny: Yeah, actually, I do, Jax. I just made a truce with the Zaccharas.

Jax: Really? Wow. Well, you know what? That's wonderful. Let me get some champagne so we can all celebrate.

Sonny: Ok, I've -- I've been in Jax's place, I know what you're going through, what both of you are going through, and I wish to god that I could change what happened and make it go away, but I can't. All I can say is I'm going to do everything I can to make things safe. And I'm going to do everything I can to help Michael more than I have.

Jax: I'm done with this.
