Mac: I want cops at every intersection within four blocks of Queen of Angels, all right? Keep traffic moving. I want no-parking zones within a two-block radius. Tow first, write tickets later. 18:00 hours. I want everything in place immediately. My niece will not be stuck in traffic on the way to her wedding.
Robin: There's never any traffic at Queen of Angels at 6:00 in the evening.
Mac: I am not taking any chances.
Robin: I think you should help me put some stamps on these envelopes. It will make you feel better.
[Helicopter whirring]
Mac: Robin, I have a lot of calls to make.
Robin: Uncle Mac, today is my wedding day. And everything is going to be perfect, so I think you should enjoy it with me.
Anna: Hi.
Robin: Hi.
Anna: Did I miss the wedding?
Maxie: Okay, once we've set all this stuff up, we really need to go in there and double check -- Spinelli, just -- wait, let me help you, okay? Sorry. I shouldn't have made you carry all this stuff when you don't have a spleen.
Spinelli: No, that's okay. The Jackal just became slightly off-balance. There's no need for concern.
Maxie: Good, because I really couldn't get through this wedding without you.
[Cat-call whistle]
Olivia: Talk about gorgeous.
Patrick: How do you like it?
Olivia: I think I'm in love.
Ric: So where were you? Why didn't you show up?
Claudia: What are you talking about? Where? Oh, my -- Jake's. I completely forgot. I'm sorry.
Ric: No, it's okay. I just waited up all night.
Claudia: Oh, no. You should have -- I should have called and let you I wasn't coming. I'm sorry.
Ric: So where were you?
Claudia: Busy.
Ric: Okay, fine, I'll bite. Doing what?
Claudia: Marrying Jason Morgan.
Jason: You need to know what happened last night.
Sonny: Andrei Karpov still breathing? You here to give me back the organization? Because if not, we're just going to waste time.
Jason: I almost married Claudia Zacchara to save you.
Olivia: This is really nice. How long you had it?
Patrick: It was my first major purchase after my residency.
Olivia: You mind?
Patrick: No, go ahead.
Olivia: Oh, nice. 340, V8, very old-school. You got a carbureted engine, much better than fuel-injection. I take it you've got no restrictor plate in there?
Patrick: I stay off the super speedways.
Olivia: Fairly good idea. What kind of horsepower you got?
Patrick: Depends how I'm running -- 500, 600.
Olivia: Oh, nice.
Patrick: You a mechanic?
Olivia: No, no. My dad and my brothers all were. If they got swamped, I'd help them out.
Patrick: Wow, I'm impressed.
Olivia: You ever race around here?
Patrick: Yeah, there's a track just outside of town.
Olivia: You ever run Watkins Glen?
Patrick: Before med school, yeah.
Olivia: That's a tough course.
Patrick: Yeah, it is.
Olivia: It's almost as bad as the Cross Bronx Expressway.
Patrick: You race?
Olivia: No, no. My brothers and I used to do go-karts when I was a little kid, but I always preferred fixing cars to actually driving them. Something very relaxing to me about opening up a hood, solving a problem.
Patrick: Especially if solving the problem is going to make it faster.
Olivia: Did you drive this thing over here?
Patrick: Well, it's not exactly street-legal, but I figured I'd get behind the wheel one more time before I get married and put it up for sale.
[Olivia scoffs]
Olivia: Keep talking like that, you're not going to stay married very long.
Anna: Oh, I'm so sorry. I should never have taken this assignment. You know, I mean, the office promised me it was only going to be 12 hours and, of course, that was days ago --
Robin: I understand.
Anna: And they never lifted the security blackout until today, so I couldn't tell you anything about it. But I managed to see your dad.
Robin: Oh.
Anna: And he looks so much stronger. And he sends his love and he's so proud and yada yada.
Robin: Mom, Mom, take a breath.
Anna: Yes, I know.
Robin: Okay, everything's fine. I talked to Dad twice already today.
Anna: You did?
Robin: Yeah.
Anna: Yeah, he wants a blow-by-blow description of the ceremony, everything. Thank God I made it.
Robin: The ceremony isn't until tonight. We have hours, so just relax.
Anna: Okay, isn't there a lot to do though? Where's your dress? Can I see your dress? I want to see your dress.
Robin: It's at the church.
Anna: Oh, okay. What about your hair? I can't do your hair. You know, I'm horrible with hair, I mean, clearly.
[Robin laughs]
Robin: Elizabeth is doing my hair and Maxie is doing everything else, so all we have to do is just show up and have a good time.
Mac: I don't care about the mayor's golf tournament. I want uniforms in place.
Anna: I can't believe it. My little girl is getting married.
Robin: Mm, not so little at the moment.
Anna: Oh, you're gorgeous.
Mac: All right, I'll be there. Look, there's a problem with the security detail. Don't leave until I get back. Anna, great to see you.
Anna: Nice to see you.
Robin: Bye. Security detail?
Anna: What would we have ever done without Uncle Mac? He loves you so much. Maybe I should help him with security --
Robin: Mom.
Anna: At least it's something constructive.
Robin: Mom?
Anna: Yeah?
Robin: It's cool. Everything is cool.
Anna: At least one of us is calm, right?
[Robin and Anna laugh]
Robin: Marrying Patrick is the best decision I've ever made. I don't think I've ever been happier in my life.
Maxie: I really want these flowers to be perfect. Not that I'm a perfectionist, it's just this will probably be Robin's one and only wedding. What do you think?
Spinelli: Um --
Maxie: I liked them so much better the way before. I'm glad Robin got out of the way and let me handle planning the wedding, because she can be a real control freak. She's been incredibly calm, though, but before, she was driving me insane.
Spinelli: Uh, indeed.
Maxie: Okay, what else? I think I'm going to lose some of the ribbon. Maybe. Less is more. That's what Kate always says, and I do believe it's true. What are you looking at?
Spinelli: The Jackal was simply observing that one day, Maximista is going to make a most beautiful bride.
Maxie: Oh, Spinelli, that's so sweet of you to say, but I seriously doubt that I'll be getting married.
Ric: Why do you want to be in the middle of Sonny, Jason, and your father?
Claudia: I have some serious power now. It's actually kind of a rush.
Ric: Yeah, only because Anthony wants something from you.
Claudia: So? Power is power, Ric. Come on, you're the also-ran in your family, too. You should be able to identify with me.
Ric: Yeah, which is exactly why I know that you're buying in to Anthony's game.
Claudia: Ric, let's face it. I am Daddy's game. Are you really this angry at me because I forgot to call you?
Ric: Oh, come on.
Claudia: Because what would I have said anyway? "Sorry Ricky, I can't make it tonight because I have to go marry the man you hate more than anybody else in the world."
Ric: Okay, whose idea was it?
Claudia: What difference does it make?
Ric: Meaning it was yours.
Claudia: It was all just a lesson in futility anyway, because all we did was scare the bejeebees out of this little minister and his wife, and it was just a big game of chicken.
Ric: What did your game accomplish, exactly?
Claudia: I wanted to see how far Jason would go to protect Sonny.
Ric: Who's protecting you, Claudia, huh? Who's protecting you? You have the most to lose here. Don't you even see that?
Claudia: Not if I play it right.
Ric: Would you have married Jason?
Claudia: I thought so, yeah. I mean, at least that was my intention when we first started out, but then I realized he didn't have any intention of marrying me. He was hoping to pay me to leave town.
Ric: And you turned him down.
Claudia: Running is not an option for me. You know it. Which means sooner or later, I'm going to have to marry your brother.
Jason: Claudia came to me and she told me that Anthony offered you his entire organization, but you have to marry her to close the deal.
Sonny: I turned him down. It's -- it's ridiculous.
Jason: Sonny, I know how bad you want Karpov. I can see you convincing yourself to take this deal.
Sonny: I can't go after Karpov on my own. You should have taken a deal. That way, you and Claudia would be married, I'd be locked out of the Zacchara organization as well as my own. You'd be running both. That's what you want, isn't it?
Jason: I never wanted to be against you.
Sonny: You say that, but actions speak louder than words. Look what you've done. You help Carly take my son. And now when I need the organization more than ever, you won't do what needs to be done.
Jason: You know you that cannot trust the Zaccharas, right? You know that.
Sonny: I know I can't trust the Zaccharas, but you're putting me in a position where I'm starting not to trust you.
Jason: Yeah, but Anthony is going to use the situation to provoke a war that could bring us all down. He wants us to be against each other.
Sonny: You think I don't know that? Why are you telling me something I know?
Jason: Because I want to protect you from the Zaccharas, to buy you some time to think. That's why I almost married Claudia.
Sonny: You want me to tell you what "almost married" really means? You're standing at the altar watching the most beautiful woman you've ever seen walk down the aisle toward you, right? And you realize that you have been given a priceless gift. You love this woman. You've loved her for a long time. And as she's walking toward you, it -- for the first time in a long time, it starts to make sense. You understand that everything, good or bad, has lead up to this moment. And you convince yourself that, you know, everything is going to be fine, that you're going to be with this woman forever. So she's standing right in front of you, she looks in your eyes, and at first, the sound doesn't make sense. And then she collapses right in front of you, and you've got blood on your hands from a shot. That's what "almost" means.
Jason: Making a deal with the Zaccharas, it's not going to change anything, Sonny.
Sonny: I didn't make a deal with the Zaccharas. I turned down Claudia.
Jason: Then walk away. Don't let the Zaccharas pull you in.
Sonny: Okay, you've got to understand something. Whatever I decide to do is for the protection of everybody. Yes, I don't trust the Zaccharas, but I may find out what makes them tick. You don't want to help me, so I'm going to handle it the way I handle it and you're going to handle it the way you handle it. And at the end, if we're on opposite sides, so be it.
Claudia: Is this a bad time?
Kate: Go away.
Claudia: Are you up for a little chat, woman to woman?
Kate: I have nothing to say to you.
Claudia: Yeah, well, I'm going to need some insight before I marry Sonny.
Kate: Um, wow. So I'm going to wake up any moment, right, and this is all going to be a bad hospital nightmare and you're going to be gone.
Claudia: Sorry to disappoint you, but you've been missing out on a lot being cooped up in here. You know, my father -- my father offered to let Sonny run the Zacchara organization, but here's the kicker -- Sonny has to marry me first.
Kate: You really are delusional.
Claudia: I just hope my wedding to Sonny goes better than yours did.
Olivia: So what's the plan? You gonna park this baby out here and hope someone's going to buy it?
Patrick: Yep.
Olivia: Not that you actually want to sell it. You know, marriage isn't supposed to mean giving up the thing you love most. It's supposed to be adding to it.
Patrick: Yeah, I don't think driving 143 miles an hour around a track fits with getting married and having a baby on the way.
Olivia: Did Robin tell you to quit?
Patrick: She would never do that. Just, you know, accidents can happen. I don't think it's very responsible of me.
Olivia: You a decent driver?
Patrick: I learned a long time ago that without my hands, I don't have a career. So I drive fast, but I'm careful.
Olivia: So why quit?
Patrick: Hard to justify the time.
Olivia: What, are you going to join NASCAR now? You're going to be part of the chase?
Patrick: Well, no, I just like to race. Spent a lot of time at the track with my dad when I was growing up.
Olivia: You want to deprive your child of that connection? You give this up, sooner or later you're going to start resenting Robin and the baby for it.
Patrick: It's not their fault.
Olivia: Would you even be thinking about quitting if you weren't getting married? Look, all I'm saying is don't give up the thing you love most just because you're making some big changes in your life. Keep racing.
Patrick: That's pretty wise for someone who's never been married.
Olivia: Yeah, I'm just an objective observer. You know, just be honest. Be grateful for everything in your life, and you'll wind up happy enough in the end.
Anna: I'm sorry I missed all the festivities. Looks like it was fun.
Robin: Yeah, it was a lot of fun. It was just, um, nothing much, though, just a surprise bridal shower-slash-wedding shower at Jake's.
Anna: Wow.
Robin: But, I mean, Patrick and I have been working non-stop just so that we can have time to take off after the wedding.
Anna: You haven't been overdoing it, have you?
Robin: Please. Uncle Mac has been hovering enough for the both of you.
Anna: I'm sorry. I know it's ridiculous to be nervous, especially me. I mean, I'm not the pregnant one about to marry Mr. Heartthrob of General Hospital. My daughter is marrying a doctor.
[Anna laughs]
Robin: Mom, I happen to be a doctor, too.
Anna: I know. I'm just being old-fashioned. I can't help it. It's so great. Wow. Sometimes I look at you and I -- I forget you're all grown up. I mean, I remember being pregnant with you. You know, I was all fat and I loved you so much and I wanted to give you the best life I possibly could.
Robin: You did.
Anna: Yeah. I mean, I suppose that all mothers, you know, imagine their daughter's wedding day. But now it's here and you're all so beautiful and accomplished and about to bring your own daughter into the world. Somehow, it just feels like a total surprise.
Maxie: You know, I would always picture the perfect wedding. Not for me, but for my mom and Mac. He loved her so much. I always wanted them to get married so that we could be a family. They did eventually get married. It was a double-wedding with two people that you don't know, Kevin and Lucy. I still think something weird was going on behind the scenes, but I was happy. And I got to wear a really pretty dress. Georgie and I gave our mom the blue ribbons from our hair for her bouquet. You know, something blue.
Spinelli: Yes, I am aware of the tradition.
Maxie: She looked so beautiful that day. And I believed everything she said. She said her heart would always belong to Mac, that he was her wisdom and her hope. They got married and I thought we would be a family forever. Less than a year later, she started having an affair with Luke Spencer and she left us. Their wedding meant nothing.
Spinelli: The Jackal has been long aware of that Maximista carries great pain.
Maxie: I hate my mom. I really do, but I'm just like her.
Spinelli: No. I have to disagree most vehemently.
Maxie: She's a liar, she's unfaithful, she makes terrible choices just like me. So I promised myself a long time ago that I would never hurt anyone the way my mom hurt Mac or Georgie or me, so I'll never get married.
