Mac: Come on, Carly. You don't have to ponder such a simple question. Do you know where Sonny was when Karpov was murdered?
Carly: He was with me.
Mac: Where?
Carly: He was at my house.
Laura: Tracy, don't underestimate me. I really am capable of fighting for what's mine.
Tracy: Luke isn't yours. You missed that part during your relapse. You see, I was the one that saved his life, but somehow, deep down, I think you know that.
Jason: Go!
[Timer beeping]
[Jerry grunts]
[Jerry laughs]
[Explosion]
Laura: So, are you saying that I would be doing Luke a favor if I left him to you?
Tracy: You would. Don't misunderstand. We all know the legend of Luke and Laura, because it has been rammed down our throats ad nauseam. Personally, it makes me puke, but that's another conversation. The question here is how much do you have in common now? I mean, even before you got sick, how much time did you spend together?
Laura: Tracy, he was my husband. He was my whole life.
Tracy: Am I wrong? Did I misinterpret this part of the story, too? Because I was given to understand that there was conflict, that you wanted the house with the white picket fence and the flower beds, and Luke couldn't wait to hit the road. So let me ask you the question again. What did you and Luke have left?
Laura: A lot. Probably more than you could comprehend, and you know what? More than I feel like explaining to you right now. But you know, you have piqued my curiosity, and you're sort of on a roll here. So, please, tell me why is it that you think you and Luke are so compatible?
Tracy: I'd love to tell you. Laura, we're cynics. We have an appreciation for the absurd. We keep each other interested. And no, it is not the consuming mutual obsession that the two of you enjoyed. But let me tell you that what we have works for me. And the tradeoff for Luke? He doesn't have to be a hero. He gets to be himself.
Laura: Okay.
Laura: Tracy... don't kid yourself. Luke does love me, and he always will. But thank you for your time. You have told me everything I wanted to hear. And you know what? I won't bother you again.
[Tracy cries]
Jason: You okay?
Sam: Yeah, I'm fine. You?
Jason: I'm good.
Sam: That was some explosion. I really don't think I would have been able to make it out there if -- if you hadn't shown up. I don't -- I don't think it looks too good for Jerry Jacks, either.
Jason: If he was below deck when the boat exploded, he's floating around in pieces.
Carly: What difference does it make what Sonny and I were doing? You need to know where he was, and I just told you.
Mac: Well, forgive me if I'm not inclined to take your word for it without a little more detail, especially since Sonny took out an ad in the paper saying he intended to kill Karpov and then, surprise surprise, he turns up looking like target practice.
Carly: We were having sex.
Carly: It was a huge mistake, and that's why I'm having a really hard time admitting to it. I have interests to protect.
Carly: At least I thought I did.
Mac: So, that's your story, Sonny? You were having sex with your ex-wife while Karpov was being murdered.
Mac: What's the matter, Sonny? You don't want to admit that you were sleeping with your ex-wife while your current fiancée was recovering in the hospital from a gunshot wound she took because of you?
Sonny: You're right. I'm not proud of it. Carly and I, you know, we're who we are. We get together, and we can't help it. It happens.
Carly: Jax.
Diane: Okay, are we done here? My client's alibi has just been established. There is no further need to hold him.
Mac: I'm not convinced.
Diane: Oh, for -- think about it, Commissioner. Why on earth would Carly lie? The woman just blew her marriage apart in front of witnesses. Did you not see the look on Jax's face? The woman told the truth at great personal expense, because it is the truth.
Mac: Wait in interrogation one. I'll start the paperwork.
Sonny: Carly, can I talk to you?
Sonny: So, you decided to save me after all.
Sam: I -- it's kind of hard to believe that there's no more Jerry Jacks. It's sort of like one of those things that you wish for and it never actually happens. I think some would actually call it a miracle.
Jason: The cops probably know about the explosion, so I would appreciate it if you just leave me out of this, okay?
Sam: Why would I say anything to the cops?
Jason: Lucky's a cop. You guys are working together.
Sam: Yeah, I know. This whole entire time it's been off the record. That -- that's the way it's going to stay.
Jason: Let's get out of here.
Elizabeth: Hey, Jason. It's me. I need to tell you something really important. So, can you call me as soon --
Maxie: Excuse me, Nurse. Do you think you can put your personal life on hold for a second and do your job?
Elizabeth: Can you call me back as soon as you get this? Thanks. What do you need, Maxie?
Maxie: I'm on my way to Robin's room. I stopped by to see if there were any cards or messages for her.
Elizabeth: You got it right the first time. I am a nurse, not a secretary.
Maxie: Well, I wouldn't brag. How many patients had to wait for food or medication while you begged for Jason's attention?
Elizabeth: You know, I've been making a real effort to get along with you for Robin's sake, since she's in the hospital and all, but I will not put up with insults or disrespect from a person who got my husband hooked on drugs, faked a pregnancy, and ruined my marriage. Now that I think about it, what the hell is Spinelli doing hanging around you? I think somebody ought to warn him.
Lulu: I wanted to talk to you about you and my dad and my mom.
Tracy: That's none of your business.
Lulu: Well, I'm in the room. I have a right to be concerned.
Tracy: You don't get to weigh in.
Lulu: I'm going to. If it wasn't for you convincing my dad to have those heart surgeries, he wouldn't be alive, and you need to know how much I thank you for that.
Tracy: "And don't let the door hit you on the way out"?
Lulu: No, no! That is not what I'm saying. Look, I'm -- I'm the first person to admit that I hated when you were married to my dad, and I found out and you were rude and you didn't hold a candle to my mother.
Tracy: I've heard that song before.
Lulu: But I have seen up close how much you love him and how much he loves you, and you're it for him. You are. You brought him back to life, so I'm -- I'm just worried that your heart is going to get stomped on, because my dad is always going to choose my mom. So my advice is just to, you know, get out before you get hurt.
Tracy: Thanks. But your father is not the same man he was. He's changed. His needs have changed. I am the right woman for him now.
Lulu: You sound so convincing. I almost believe you.
Tracy: We'll see.
Luke: Oh, there you are. Where did you go?
Laura: I'll tell you later. Lucky, I need a favor. I'd like to have a family meeting, and I can't find your brother and sister and they're not answering their cell phones. Do you suppose you could find them?
Lucky: Yeah, sure.
Laura: Thanks.
Laura: I've been to see your wife. I think it's pretty safe to say that Tracy and I understand each other pretty well now.
Luke: I guess so. You're still standing.
Laura: So is she. But she made it pretty clear that she won't be handing you over any time soon.
Luke: Nobody is in a position to hand me over to anybody. The question here really is what are we going to do about us?
Maxie: I need to be very clear and no matter what that jealous cow Elizabeth Webber says, I'm not going to use, betray, or destroy you. Well, I already used you, but I apologized for that, and I'm still really, really sorry. God, I hate that witch and the feeling is mutual. I can't believe she had the nerve to throw that Lucky stuff in my face yet again. And then she insinuated she was going to come between us.
Spinelli: I'm sorry, between who?
Maxie: Us. You and me.
Spinelli: Why -- how does the maternal one plan on accomplishing such an impossible feat?
Maxie: By warning you to stay away from me. By telling you what a black hole I am.
Spinelli: But I already know that. No, no. What I mean is that I am well aware of Maximista's past transgressions, but I am also well aware that you've metamorphosed since then and that you regret certain actions, but I esteem you just the way you are -- past transgressions acknowledged but discounted.
Maxie: I think I knew you were going to say that, but I kind of just needed to hear it. All right, so come on, Elizabeth, do your worst. It won't be good enough. Oh, I'm not sure I even want to know.
Carly: Can you say whatever it is you want to say? I got -- I have to go.
Sonny: I just want to thank you for the alibi. I know -- I know what it cost you.
Carly: Do you?
Sonny: I think -- I think I do.
Carly: Jax is gone, Sonny. He's not coming back.
Sonny: He loves you. You can probably save it.
Carly: He gave me the chance to save it out there in the squad room when he told me that he would come back if I walked away from you... if I didn't give you an alibi.
Sonny: Why -- why did you?
Carly: I don't know. Stupid? Habit? I couldn't let you take the fall for Karpov's death.
Sonny: You're not stupid, but could you have thought of anything other than sex all night?
Carly: What the hell was I supposed to say?
Sonny: Well, I'm just --
Carly: Come on. Do you want me to say that I saw Karpov try and kill you and that I had to fish you out of the harbor and I spent the whole night taking care of you? Is that what you wanted me to say? How about we spent all night long playing Monopoly? You think Mac would believe that? No, I told the lie that everyone would believe. It explains why I had a hard time admitting to it. I also told the lie that would cause both of us the most damage. But hey, let's look at the bright side. You won't be inconvenienced by having to actually pay for what you did.
Jax: I'm not sure why I'm here, but I came as soon as I got your message.
Harper: A freighter exploded and sank tonight -- the Gibraltar. Ring a bell?
Jax: No.
Harper: Well, the ship's a total loss. We've got divers in the water, but they're not optimistic about survivors.
Jax: I'm sorry to hear that. I'm assuming this has something to do with me.
Harper: The Gibraltar was leased by your brother.
Jax: Was he on board?
Harper: Well, we recovered a few items. Jerry's passport and... and this.
Jax: Yeah. Yeah, this belonged to my brother.
Laura: There's no doubt in my mind that if went to the mat with Tracy over you, I'd win. I think that bond is still right there between us, and given a little bit of time, it would be back. It would be stronger than ever, probably, but I'm not sure that we should be together right now. Tracy made a really good point. She told me how much you've changed. And I've changed, too. And you really had to move on. I need to do the same thing.
[Door opens]
Nikolas: Hey. What -- was there something wrong or --
Lulu: Lucky said you wanted to see us.
Laura: Oh, you poor kids. Your mother summons you, and you automatically think there's going to be some kind of a disaster, which sort of reinforces what I'm about to say.
Lucky: What is it?
Laura: I've been talking to the doctors, and I've made a decision. And as much as I would like to stay here in Port Charles with all of you, I think that we would all be living in fear of me going into another relapse, and since I don't want to put you in that kind of turmoil, I am going to pursue my therapy and see if there is something permanent out there for me. Because I would really like a shot at a life, a real life, and I think that I might be able to find that in France. So that's where I am going to go.
Lucky: I want you to get whatever help is available for you, because I want you to come home. I want you to come home and reclaim your life.
Laura: Oh, Lucky, I've realized something. My old life is lost to me, and I can't get it back. But I can build a new one, and that's exactly what I intend to do.
Lucky: So, what about Dad?
Laura: Your dad is married to someone else now, and I wish him well.
Lucky: That easy?
Laura: No, it's not that easy. It's just -- it's necessary. That's all. I mean, as much as you may like to freeze a moment in time, you can't. Things change, and people change. And if you don't learn how to roll with the punches, then you get stuck standing still. And I have been still too long.
Lucky: I can't argue that.
Laura: But there are some things that will never ever change, like me being your mother and loving you. Oh, I can't believe it. When I look at you -- for me, it seems like just a minute ago you were that little boy obsessed with the worm farm.
[Laughter]
Laura: Or, you know, falling in love with Elizabeth, your first love.
Lucky: Yeah, it does seem like a million years ago.
Laura: I'm sorry things didn't work out between the two of you, but I am so proud of the adults that you have become. I hope you will always remain friends with her, though.
Lucky: Yeah, yeah, we'll always be friends.
Laura: Good.
Lucky: But I have moved on, and there's somebody new in my life.
Laura: Oh, good.
Lucky: Her name is Sam, so maybe we could come visit you in France.
Laura: And I will look forward to that. I love you, son.
Lucky: I love you, Mom.
Laura: Oh.
