Johnny: I had a feeling you would be here. I was getting concerned last night. I tried you, and you never returned any of my messages. Now I know why. Lulu, I'm sorry.
Lulu: Did your family do this to mine?
Maxie: I was heading to Kelly's to get a coffee, like I do a thousand times a day. And thank God I saw them before I went in.
Jason: What did you see exactly?
Maxie: Three guys with baseball bats, smashing up Kelly's, beating poor Mike to the ground. You know how sometimes your brain can't process what your eyes are seeing because it's so surreal? That's exactly what happened to me. And when it looked like one of them was turning my direction, I called 911 and ran.
Jason: Okay, could you I.D. any of these guys if you saw them again?
Maxie: Sorry, I didn't see any of their faces. But I did see that one of them had a tattoo on his right wrist.
Sasha: Well, the strike against Morgan's truck yard went off without a hitch. He never saw us coming. Sonny's father is taken care of as well, so we're on track and on time.
Man's voice: Two simultaneous missions involving two separate teams plus explosives, and you're telling me you encountered no problems at all?
Second Man: There is one item of small concern.
Man: Hmm, as I thought.
Sasha: Well, the team handling Corinthos' father was spotted by a young woman passing through, but I'm sure that we can find her. Would you like her to be taken care of the same as the old man?
[Mike groans]
Sonny: Easy, Mike.
Mike: Huh?
Sonny: You're in the hospital.
Mike: Why?
Sonny: You don't remember?
Mike: I closed the diner. Some guys came in. I'm not sure.
Sonny: They said they'd retaliate because of me.
Johnny: Do you know something that connects my father to this?
Lulu: No, no. I'm sorry, but my head has been in a million different places from this time yesterday.
Johnny: Your mother left for France?
Lulu: Everything just happened so fast. She wakes up. She runs off with Scott, comes back with my dad. And now she's gone again. This time to another country. I'm still trying to process the fact that she was really awake. I don't know, I just -- I miss her, you know?
Johnny: I understand.
Lulu: I don't know. She was just so -- I don't know. She was sure.
Johnny: What do you mean?
Lulu: Well, she decided she was going to go to France in about an hour. I mean, one minute she's catatonic and the next minute she is fully in charge. I've just never known her to be so matter-of-fact.
Johnny: Did you not like her that way?
Lulu: No, it just threw me. I'm used to walking on eggshells around her. And the woman that we said good-bye to yesterday did not need protection from anybody. I mean, you know, good for her. She's putting her needs first. And when you think about it, it's about time. So, I am back at the Quartermaines', and I'm living in my civilized room with Alice waiting on me hand and foot, just like the past few months didn't even happen.
Johnny: It must be weird for you.
Lulu: Yeah, while I was thinking about a talk that I had with my mom before she left, about you and I and how I should trust my heart and trust us, and I was about to call you, and the phone rang first. It was Bobbie telling me about this.
Johnny: What exactly happened here?
Lulu: I don't know. They found Mike unconscious in the alley, beaten up. He's in the hospital.
Johnny: Is he going to be okay?
Lulu: I -- I think so. So they came back, and they torched the place. And the first person I thought of was your dad because he hates us. And he knows that this place is affiliated with my family. I mean, am I being paranoid?
Johnny: This is exactly the kind of thing that my father's capable of.
Epiphany: Mike Corbin's blood work results are back from the lab. You need to make sure that his attending sees it before rounds.
Elizabeth: That would be Dr. Simmons. He wants to see them ASAP. I'll put in a page. Uhh! Damn it.
Epiphany: Are you okay, Nurse Webber?
Elizabeth: I'm fine. I just dropped some folders.
Epiphany: You know, you've been sitting on a hornet's nest since you got here. And it occurs to me that you might want to go somewhere and work that out.
Elizabeth: I'm fine, thank you. Dr. Simmons, can you come to the nurses' station, 10th floor? Dr. Simmons.
Sam: Hi. Got a minute?
Elizabeth: Actually, this is a really bad time.
Sam: Look, I know you're upset. I'm just here to ease your mind.
Elizabeth: Sam, I'm really busy.
Sam: Okay, I'm not leaving until I say my peace, so you might as well listen. Listen, I know things got pretty tense at Jason's last night, and I'm not sure if I really made myself clear. Him rescuing me -- it was totally random. It wasn't planned. We weren't working together behind anyone's back. That's it. That's all. And you need to believe that rekindling some old, bad relationship is the farthest thing from my mind.
Jason: Are you sure you weren't seen?
Maxie: Well, kind of.
Jason: Yes or no, Maxie.
Maxie: Well, I'm sorry. As soon as it looked like he might be able to see me, I just ran. I didn't see his face. I don't know if he saw mine.
Spinelli: If I may interject, Maximista's only relayed what she has seen through her eyes. Her beautiful -- but what I mean to say is that we have other senses --
Jason: He's asking you if you -- did you hear anything?
Maxie: Oh, now that you mention it, they were arguing in some other language, and it could have been Russian because he sounded like the guys who broke into the "Crimson" office.
Jason: Okay, did you tell Mac any part of this?
Maxie: No, and I didn't give the 911 operator my name either.
Jason: Good, good. You did good. Now you can go.
Maxie: No, I can't leave. I have to know what you're going to do.
Jason: Why would I tell you anything? You don't know how to be quiet. You proved that last night.
Mike: I crawled in the alley, right? And there were flames somewhere?
Sonny: The diner was torched.
Mike: Terrific. I finally find gainful employment and look what happens.
Sonny: Don't worry about it. Kelly's can be rebuilt. I'm going to rebuild it. Make it better than before. I'll get you a -- I'll get you a kitchen, make you shine. And the Spencers aren't going to have to spend a dime because I'm going to take care of them, but your life cannot be replaced, and I'm grateful that you were able to save it, but on the other hand, it -- it hurts me --
Mike: Sonny.
Sonny: That I put you there. You know what I mean?
Mike: Yes.
Sonny: Because if I hadn't then, you know, I mean --
Mike: Sonny, Sonny, Sonny. I don't blame you. Come on.
Sonny: Well, it's still -- it's fault.
Mike: Please, don't pick up the slack by blaming yourself. You did what you had to do. Hell, come on. Listen, I'm almost relieved. I thought this about some gambling debt that had fell through the cracks or something. So what's next?
Sonny: Well, what's next, I mean, somebody goes after your dad, I mean, you know, what are you going to do? You can't let that go.
Kate: Mike?
Mike: But --
Kate: Mike, I just heard --
Mike: Hey.
Kate: Oh.
Mike: Hey, Kate, come on in. Come on.
Kate: Um, okay, just for a minute. I'm here for a check-up, and Elizabeth said you had been injured.
Mike: Yeah, well, it looks worse than it is.
Kate: Well, I hope so.
Mike: Hey, come on. I'm a fast healer. I'll be as good as new in no time. For sure, I'll be good in time for the new wedding date.
Kate: I guess Sonny didn't tell you.
Sonny: No, I didn't get that far.
Mike: What's going on?
Kate: There isn't going to be a new wedding. Sonny and I are through.
Patrick: Are your arms getting tired?
Robin: You asked me that five minutes ago.
Patrick: I know. I just -- you know, fatigue can come sudden. Maybe I should take over.
Robin: I'm fine. I'm better than fine.
Patrick: Robin, D.I.C. is a serious condition, and in your case, it was pretty close to being fatal. So I just don't want you to push it.
Robin: Yes, but here I am, alive and healthy, feeding our little girl. You know, sometimes your daddy's control issues get a little out of control, if you know what I mean. It allows him to order us around in a much softer tone of voice, but we will not let him get away with that, will we?
Patrick: Okay, fine. Make fun of me. But you were unconscious. You don't know what it was like around here. People were very worried about you, especially me. It was scary to think of what it would be like without you, which would be tragic in and of itself, but for Emma -- well, she would be raised by me, a single father who is not even close to being capable.
Robin: Oh, come on. You're being too hard on yourself. You would have figured it out. Remember the tricky cabinet in my kitchen that you fixed?
Patrick: Oh, yes, I remember it. It took me a year and a half to fix.
Robin: Yes, yes, yes, it did, but the point is that you figured it out. And it's going to be the same with being a dad.
Patrick: Okay. When did you become little miss optimistic?
Robin: When I opened my eyes, and I saw my family here waiting for me. And I saw our little girl and saw what we made. It restored my faith in miracles.
Patrick: That's good, because we're going to need a few more of those. Now let me take her.
Robin: Okay. She's sleeping now so don't wake her up.
Patrick: Okay.
Robin: Oh, hello.
[Emma coos]
Robin: Daddy's going to hold you.
Patrick: Hey, sweetheart. Okay.
Lulu: So you think that my first instinct was right, and your dad did this to send some sort of message to you about me?
Johnny: I don't know. This is exactly the kind of thing my father would do, but he's recovering from a brain aneurysm. This is out of context.
Lulu: The sentence doesn't fit the crime?
Johnny: Something like that. Then again, my father wants to control me, and he's not exactly a linear thinker.
Lulu: Well, I'm sorry that I was snapping at you and that I even brought this up. I don't want you to take responsibility for your dad when we don't even know that he did this.
Johnny: You can be damn sure I'm going to find out who did.
Lulu: You know, this place has always reminded me of home and family and -- my Aunt Ruby ran it for years, and then when she died, she gave it to my dad and my Aunt Bobbie. Why would somebody do this? Why would someone deliberately destroy Kelly's?
Sam: Well, aren't you going to say something? Come on, do something. Yell at me. Call me a liar. Throw accusations at me. Do something. I just want to get this over with so we can move on.
Elizabeth: I'm still thinking.
Sam: Please. Elizabeth, you and I have miraculously gotten to a really good place, and I just -- I don't want to start moving backwards and then have you hating me and not allowing me to be around the boys.
Elizabeth: Oh, so you and Lucky are still together.
Sam: Yes, I mean, as long as I have anything to do with it.
Elizabeth: Okay.
Sam: Yes, I mean, he's got his own suspicions concerning Jerry, but I think I'm going to be able to talk him down. And hopefully, we can pick up wherever we left off.
Elizabeth: All right, I'm -- God, I'm sorry for overreacting. It's just that Jason and I are having a really tough time right now, and I just -- we can't figure out where we stand. One minute we're taking off to Italy. And the next --
Sam: No, yes, I know. Cancels. Business.
Elizabeth: Yeah, exactly.
Sam: He does love you. You know that.
Elizabeth: I know, but is love enough? Apparently, Jason doesn't think so. And I'm starting to think maybe he's right. Not to dump my problems on you or anything.
Sam: No, I don't mind, actually.
Elizabeth: No, it's okay. I've said enough.
Sam: Okay, wait a minute. Since we're being honest and open and stuff, I'm going to keep things straight with you. I am not trying to move in on your territory. Jason's been a non-issue for me for a really long time. And nothing has happened to change that, okay?
Elizabeth: Okay, thanks.
Sam: Okay.
Sam: Bye.
Jason: How many times have I asked you to keep your mouth shut?
Maxie: You just said that I did good.
Jason: Right. I'm not talking about Kelly's.
Maxie: I assume we're talking about Elizabeth. It's not like I went and told the police or anything.
Jason: Well, you shouldn't have said anything at all, Maxie.
Maxie: Okay, I'm sorry. I was wrong. I shouldn't have rubbed you and Sam in Elizabeth's face, but she was being really bitchy to me, and I couldn't help it.
Jason: It doesn't even matter because this is part of a bigger problem. Because of Spinelli, I've allowed you access to my home and my office. And you hear things you shouldn't hear. And he tells you things you shouldn't know.
Maxie: That's not very fair. I mean, I've proven to you over and over again that I know how to keep a secret.
Jason: I need to speak to Spinelli alone.
Maxie: Fine.
Spinelli: Look, I apologize for Maximista's lapse in judgment. You know, she's a very -- she's a very passionate creature. And sometimes her emotions override her common sense. But I promise to avoid exposing her to any further inner workings of the business. If you could just find it in your heart to allow me to retain her as a friend --
Jason: Okay, I'm not here to dictate your friends, okay? I'm just telling you -- be careful because Maxie has a little bit of Carly in her. They don't think any further ahead than the last person who upset them and how to get even. And innocent people get caught in their fallout. I am not going to let Elizabeth be one of them.
Mike: Kate, Kate, I would hate to see you give up on Sonny now after all you've been through.
Kate: Mike, it's because of -- it's because of what I've been through is why I have to. I mean, look, even the most stubborn person has to admit the truth, right? Carly will always be the third person in the room.
Sonny: That's not true.
Kate: Right.
Sonny: Carly told a lie, Mike, to keep me out of prison. It was a stupid lie, but I'm happy she did it. It doesn't mean I want her back, or that she wants me back.
Kate: It doesn't matter.
Sonny: It doesn't matter? Why would you even say something like that?
Kate: Because you've tried, right?
Sonny: I tried what?
Kate: You've tried to stay apart. You and Carly have tried to commit yourself to other people, but it just doesn't stick, right. Right?
Sonny: That's not true. Again.
Kate: Your actions speak louder, Sonny. When your back is against the wall, you turn to Carly. I don't even enter the equation. Look, I'm not going to have this conversation, okay? I'm just -- I'm done, okay?
Sonny: Okay, well, you know what? It's not going to be so easy to just -- what happened to my dad is not just an isolated occurrence, okay? Everybody who is close to me is going to be a target
Robin: Hey, Matt. Wait.
Matt: I didn't mean to bother you. Just go back to sleep.
Robin: No, I was just resting my eyes. Come in. Come on. You're Emma's uncle; you can stop by whenever you want to.
Matt: Okay.
[Robin chuckles]
Robin: The whole instant family is kind of strange, huh?
Matt: You could say that, yeah.
Robin: Well, I happen to have a lot of experience in that area, and I will tell you it gets easier.
Matt: Yeah? Well, if you say so. How's Emma?
Robin: She's the most brilliant, gorgeous baby ever born. Want to see?
Matt: Of course.
Robin: Have you seen her yet?
Matt: I see her about twice a day. I have since she got here.
Robin: Really?
Matt: Yeah.
Robin: Wow. That's so sweet. I'm starting to see you in a different light, Dr. Hunter. If you're not careful, I might actually think that you're nice.
Matt: Oh, yeah? Well, I'll deny it with my dying breath.
Robin: There are witnesses. Kelly and Patrick both told me that you took a special interest in my case. Even Maxie found some nice things to say about you.
Matt: Maxie? Well, then we really know, right? It's just the idea of Emma growing up with Patrick as her only parent? I mean --
[Matt laughs]
Matt: Oof.
Robin: Well, then in that case, Emma thanks you, too. So now that we're on a roll, do you think you could do me a favor?
Matt: Uh, okay. If this about babysitting, if that's where this is going, I definitely don't.
Robin: Well, it is, but it would be Patrick. He's driving me nuts, okay? He's in complete hover mode. He's monitoring every breath that I take. The only time he's not glued to my side is when he's carting the baby back and forth.
Matt: Isn't this a little late in the game for you to decide that you don't really like the guy?
Robin: I like the guy, okay? I just need a break sometimes. So, can I count on you to help me?
