Anthony: Have you seen the paper?

Johnny: No.

Anthony: All hell broke loose last night. First, Kelly's gets torched, then one of Morgan's truck yards takes a hit. And, in-between, Sonny's father was beaten within an inch of his life. Who says Port Charles isn't a great place to raise your kids?

Johnny: I imagine you're feeling pretty smug about right now, huh?

Anthony: Oh, well, I'll admit in these trying times, it's nice to read some good news in the paper for a change.

Johnny: So what's next, Dad? You spread the word throughout the ranks, let everybody know that you're responsible for this mess so they're ready to bend at your will?

Anthony: You think I did this?

Johnny: You've made no secret about wanting Jason Morgan out of the way. And then there's Lulu.

Anthony: What does Lulu have to do with anything?

Johnny: You think she makes me weak. You've wanted her out of the picture since the moment I met her,

Anthony: You give Lulu way more importance than she actually merits in the real world, John.

Johnny: Burning down Lulu's family's diner might just be enough to send her back to Shadybrook and away from me.

Anthony: Get you head out of the clouds, John. You're way off base. I did not do this. Karpov's people did to retaliate against Sonny. And that diner went up in flames because Sonny's father works there. And anyone connected with Corinthos is now walking around with a big, fat target on their back. But this could work to our advantage.

Bernie: The transport yard is a total mess. They Molotoved everything. The trucks, the cargo waiting to go. It's completely unsalvageable.

Jason: What about the guards?

Bernie: Morgue. Yeah, it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. The Karpov organization is determined to cut Mr. Corinthos off at the knees. They want to isolate him. They want to make sure he has nowhere to go. So, due to his recklessness, your war -- the war that you fought to prevent -- you're right in the middle of it now.

Jason: I got to say, if it were me, if I believed Karpov had shot and almost killed the woman I love, I don't know if I would have reacted any differently, Bernie.

Bernie: Well, I beg to differ with you. I have worked for you for a very long time, and I think I know how you operate. Before indulging a desire for revenge, you would consider the people who work with you, and you would see what they have to lose. Mr. Corinthos -- not so much. The men are very angry with him for bringing this down.

Jason: I'll talk with him. Just set up a meeting with all our lieutenants.

Bernie: It's already done. Warehouse 10, one hour.

Jason: No, push it to eight. There's something I need to take of first.

Bernie: This city is going to be reduced to rubble. What could be more important to you than that right now?

image

Sonny: Karpov's lawyer made it clear there would be retaliation. I have a plan. I'm going to do whatever it takes to make sure that neither of you is in the line of fire. And, you know, from here on in, you both are going to be safe.

Kate: Sonny.

Sonny: What?

Kate: Do you know what the definition of insanity is? It's doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. And that is you. And with each step, you're pulling yourself deeper into the quagmire. And that is your choice. I'm done. So don't distract yourself from important business protecting me. I'm officially out of your world, and the truth is I probably never belonged there in the first place. Mike, Mike, if you need something, just call me, okay?

Sonny: How do Kate and I get back from this?

Mike: I don't know.

image

Robin: Isn't this nice? It's just us girls. Not that we don't love Daddy, but he does worry a lot -- stirs up all the energy in the room. Your dad doesn't realize that he needs a breather just as much as I do. So your mommy had to resort to some trickery. Do you remember when I said that your daddy was a control freak? Well, it just so happens that your mommy is also a control freak, which will make things very interesting for you. But you just have to remember that your daddy and I love each other like crazy.

Patrick: Hey.

Robin: Hi.

Patrick: You are busted. Did you really think that I'd fall for something so transparent?

Robin: I have no idea what you're talking about.

Patrick: Oh, you don't?

Robin: No.

Patrick: Well, Matt, my brother, would never invite me to take over a case, and Epiphany would never let him tackle one that he wasn't qualified to take. This was a little setup to get rid of me wasn't it?

Robin: You know, it's not nice to badger new mothers.

Patrick: Oh, but plotting and scheming new fathers is totally acceptable?

Robin: Yes.

Patrick: Is it, really?

Robin: Yes.

Patrick: I don't think so. How is she?

Robin: She's perfect.

Epiphany: Good news from Dr. Lee. Mother and child are hereby released.

Robin: Did you hear that? That means that the Scorpio-Drakes are going home.

Johnny: Looks like your plan for Sonny was shot to hell.

Anthony: How do you figure that?

Johnny: Because you were planning on Sonny needing you to take out Karpov. Sonny finished the job himself.

Anthony: I need Sonny desperate for a power base. How that comes about doesn't matter. The fallout from Karpov's murder works just as well as Sonny coming to me directly.

Johnny: How?

Anthony: The Russians are going for a blanket retaliation. Last night, they just didn't strike Sonny, they waltzed right into the heart of Jason Morgan's operation. Now, if that bazooka has half a brain in his head --

Johnny: Jason will want to put his organization's well-being first and distance himself from Sonny. Sonny will be left all by himself. So next time he comes to you, he's not just going to protect Kate, but he's going to need protection himself.

Anthony: Ooh, you catch on fast, kid. Sonny will have no choice but to accept the deal I put on the table. Now, by going off the deep end and whacking that Russkie, he basically guaranteed his place in the Zacchara family. So I hope you're ready to welcome your new brother-in-law.

Johnny: Sonny treats Claudia like garbage. Why would you want her to marry him?

Anthony: Because sometimes you have to make sacrifices in the moment for the sake of the future, John. When Sonny and Claudia are joined in unholy matrimony, the Zacchara family will be more powerful than ever. And guess who wins bigger than anyone?

Johnny: You.

Anthony: No, John, you. You should know by now. Everything I do is ultimately for you.

image

Mike: Karpov knifed you and had you thrown in the -- in the harbor. I mean, you had to strike back.

Sonny: I don't want to lose her, Mike.

Mike: I know.

Sonny: But -- you know, the blowback is not just landing on me. It's landing on Jason.

Mike: On Jason? How?

Sonny: Yeah, you're not the only casualty. Karpov's people hit one of his truck yards -- just burned it to the ground with -- ready to go, you know?

Mike: What kind -- what kind of strategy is that? You and Jason aren't even partners anymore.

Sonny: Karpov's people are looking to get rid of any ally I might have. I think the best thing I should do is go talk to Jason. What do you think?

Mike: I think that's more than fair.

Sonny: You know what's ironic? Jason threw my friendship with him out the window for peace -- all for nothing.

Kate: Well, I'm pleased to report that the doctor gave my recovery a glowing review.

Olivia: Great. Let's get out of here. I've got stuff to take care of.

Kate: Okay, that's abrupt.

Olivia: What was the term? Uh, go to the mattresses? That's what we got to do right now.

Kate: What are you talking about?

Olivia: Uh, private security -- I hired it for your house and for your office 24/7. We got to go.

Kate: Okay, Olivia, just -- where is all of this over-the-top concern coming from?

Olivia: Over the top? Are you insane? Connie, there's no over-the-top here, okay? Unless you're completely in denial. Mob war broke out last night because of Sonny and his stupid macho code. Okay, the guy just runs in, and he doesn't look at the consequences of his actions on other people. He just scratches whatever itch he feels he needs to scratch at the time, and he leaves the consequences for other people to deal with. And luckily for you, I'm here, and I'm up to the task.

Kate: Okay, well, I'm grateful that I have you, but if there's one thing I've learned from being with Sonny is that protection from the mob is an illusion, Olivia.

Olivia: So you just want to sit around and wait for them to shoot you again, maybe kill you this --

Kate: No, no, but I've been with Sonny. It's a matter of public record, and if it makes me a target, there's nothing that can be done.

Olivia: Don't be so sure.

Sam: Maxie, what are you doing here?

Maxie: I, uh -- I owe you an apology.

Sam: Why?

Maxie: I kind of let anger override discretion.

Sam: Oh, no, this should be good. Go ahead.

Maxie: I went to the hospital yesterday to see Robin, and Elizabeth was there. She was behind the desk leaving some whiny voice mail for Jason about how she needed to see him or whatever. And I asked nicely if there was anything for Robin behind the desk. She had the nerve to go off on me. And then she said she was going to say bad stuff about me to Spinelli, and that really pissed me off. So when I saw you and Jason at the penthouse later, and you guys were all soaking wet -- I mean, it looked suspicious on the surface. And I was still really mad at Elizabeth, so --

Sam: I know, I know. I'm sure you made a beeline to the hospital to tell Elizabeth that what? He and I were hooking up or something?

Maxie: I'm so sorry, Sam. That was not fair to you or Jason.

Sam: No, it's okay, you know? It's probably actually a good thing that Elizabeth walked in when she did.

image

Jason: Hey, we really need to talk.

Elizabeth: I'm working. And like you, my work is important to me.

Jason: Okay, I deserve that. But a lot's happened, and I really want to tell you about it. Please? I'll wait. Okay, I'll wait on the roof. You just meet me during your break, okay?

image

Olivia: I'm here to see Jason Morgan.

Barista: He's not here.

Olivia: I'll wait. Is that his office?

Barista: Yes, but you can't go in there.

Olivia: Maybe I should introduce myself. Olivia Falconeri -- Kate Howard's cousin, woman who almost married Sonny Corinthos. Yeah, I got reason to believe my cousin is in serious danger. I want assurances from Jason that he's going to protect her.

Barista: Look, they just pay me to pour lattes.

Olivia: Hey, hey, hey, hey. You work here, right? They give you a number to call in case of emergencies, right? I'm an emergency. You go make a call. I'll be waiting in Jason's office.

[Man speaking Russian]

Olivia: Yeah, I want the windows bullet-proofed. Yeah, I don't care how much it cost. She's got the money, believe me. Yeah. Hello? Oh, freaking battery.

[Glass shatters]

[Man speaking Russian]

Man: Aah!

Johnny: Hey, I got your message. You been here the whole time?

Lulu: Um, I came back. Spinelli was here. He told me a few things. I -- I owe you an apology. I was wrong. Your dad had nothing to do with this.

Johnny: I know. I actually just talked to him. Apparently, this is the work of some Russian mob syndicate to avenge Karpov's death. They did this to hurt Sonny's father. And, of course, I'm glad that the Zaccharas had nothing to do with it, but it doesn't make your family's diner any less torched.

Lulu: At least it has nothing to do with you.

Johnny: Yeah, it does. It's the world I'm from. This -- when I saw my father, he was -- he was loving this, not because he knew it was going to hurt you, but because he knew that the violence was going to get worse. He was practically giddy in anticipation of what the Russians are going to do to this town.

Lulu: I -- I don't get it because your dad lives here, too.

Johnny: I know, but my father -- you got to understand -- has no allegiance to wherever he lives. They're temporary power bases, okay? Territory to fight over and divvy up. This war is going to get worse. My father is going to manipulate it. And when it's over, he's going to be there shifting through the rubble , wanting to take what he thinks I should have.

Lulu: Don't, Johnny. You are not responsible for what your father does and why. You never chose this life. You're not choosing it now. Nothing can touch us unless we let it.

Johnny: How come you still want to be with me?

Lulu: That is the easiest question I have ever had to answer. I love you. It's as simple as that.

Sam: Okay, if I'm going to be honest, I guess I have to admit that as crazy as the whole situation with Jerry was, part of me really, really, really loved it.

Maxie: People think I'm weird.

Sam: No, no, no -- listen, not the part where I was -- where I was bound and threatened hourly by that sociopath. But I loved having to think on my feet. I loved the stakes. It reminded me of me -- the old uncensored me. I haven't felt that way in a really long time.

Maxie: You kind of sound like Luke Spencer. Maybe you should start hooking up with him.

Sam: No, please, I've already found my perfect partner in crime. Okay, it's just that it's been so long. I -- I kind of forgot how well-matched Jason and I are. We -- we make a really, really good team -- at least where lives are at stake. We don't even have to talk.

Maxie: That must work out really well for Jason.

Sam: Oh, come on. So anyway, who cares, right? Everything's over. Jerry's dead, and I'm not sorry for anything that happened. I was -- I was due for an adventure. And I really, really liked it.

Maxie: The adventure itself or going through it with Jason?

image

Elizabeth: I'm sorry about the way I acted downstairs --

Jason: No, no, you don't -- you don't have to apologize, okay? You don't have to explain. I'm the one who bailed on you. You're hurt, and you're mad. And you have every right to be.

Elizabeth: Jason, I don't want to be this angry, bitchy, disappointed person. I want to be open to what's good in my life -- even if it's imperfect. I know it's more than possible that things will never work out between the two of us, but I also don't want to look back at what we've shared and -- and wish that I'd tried harder.

Jason: You know I love you. Okay? But sometimes I feel you -- you refuse to look at the facts. I'm not just some guy your friend introduced you to. I mean, the reason I did not show up last night is because somebody is trying to kill me. I am being targeted as part of a retaliation against Sonny.

Elizabeth: What?

Jason: My truck yard was hit, and I lost everything. I lost a lot of men. You see what I'm trying to tell you? I'm not just a regular guy with a regular life. This life --

Elizabeth: What's wrong?

Jason: You see that glow a few blocks away? I think it's my office.

image

Olivia: Hey, anybody out there? I'm trapped in here!
