Claudia: Marriage is supposed to be about compromise. So, give and take -- if I agree to treat the people in your life with respect, I expect the same -- no remarks about John or my father.
Sonny: Yeah, yeah, that's fair.
Claudia: And about us, we're not strangers who met in a bar. I'll stop acting like it if you will.
Sonny: Okay.
Claudia: Marriage to me is not going to make you a better person, but I really don't want to bring out the very worst of you, either.
Sonny: Mm-hm.
Claudia: So, I'm never going to be a Madonna, but I don't want to be treated like a whore.
Sonny: Yeah, I -- I understand.
Claudia: I mean, I'm not -- I'm not saying that you have to like me, and -- and nobody's asking you to pretend to love me, but I need you to treat me with consideration and I'll treat you the same. Deal?
Sonny: Deal.
Claudia: Wow, thank you.
Sonny: Yeah, I wanted to do it right.
Claudia: Awesome. It's traditional for you to put it on my finger.
Claudia: I'm not totally clear on all the rules for an arranged marriage, but you putting the ring on my finger would seem pretty standard.
Sonny: The ring is strictly business.
Claudia: Well, I could argue that all engagement rings are business. We're just being honest about it.
Sonny: Yeah, well, you know, after seeing how your father treated you, I understand you a little more, and it's very clear to me how much you love your brother. And the fact you're doing this for the sake of your family, you know, means something. So, everything that's happened between us before, let's just leave that behind us.
Claudia: Okay.
Sonny: And you do know this is going to be very, very difficult for both of us.
Claudia: Sonny, come on. You've survived worse than being married to me.
Sonny: Well, yeah, so you -- we both understand how this works. So, this ring is basically a sign of respect.
Carly: Coleman, I need a beer.
Coleman: You got it.
Carly: Hi. Actually, I'll have whatever she's having.
Olivia: One of those days, too?
Carly: You can't imagine.
Olivia: You know what? When you get a chance, we're going to need a couple of extra shots over here.
Carly: Wow. I haven't even had the first one.
Olivia: Well, go ahead with that one. When you hear what I've got to say, you'll need an extra, too.
Carly: Okay. Oh. Okay, what?
Olivia: It's official. Sonny's going to marry Claudia Zacchara.
Carly: Oh.
Mac: We have to work together on this, Alexis. Look, I know you have history with Jason and you're friends with Diane, but we are not talking about some principle of law here. Maxie was attacked, all right? Mike Corbin is still in the hospital. If we don't get this situation under control, a lot of innocent people are going to get hurt.
Alexis: I agree.
Diane: Well, this does not look good.
Jason: How can you tell?
Diane: Strictly speaking, it is never to your advantage for the police commissioner and the district attorney to be getting along. Alexis is on edge. The political pressure is getting brutal. Jerry is presumed dead and the fact that she was known to be openly involved with him makes her look bad. Now, if she were to go easy on you, it would look even worse.
Jason: They have no evidence.
Diane: Point taken. All right, I will see what I can do.
Diane: Alexis, I'm so glad you're here. I know you share my concern about what's happening in this city.
Alexis: I'm district attorney. It's my job to be here.
Diane: Well, that's certainly true, but since you have arrested my client for no reason and there's no evidence, you need to let him go.
Mac: Not gonna happen.
Alexis: Can I talk to Diane in private for a minute?
Alexis: All right, look, this is a good time for you to step down from this case. Let Jason get another lawyer or let him rely on a public defender.
Diane: And walk away from my retainer? Not a chance.
Alexis: Diane, I am looking out for you, lawyer to lawyer. This is not a case you want to lose. It will be too public. And in the interest of public safety, you don't want to win it, either. You need to distance yourself from this because this time, Jason has gone too far.
Elizabeth: I have never used -- uh -- fired a shotgun before.
Sam: Okay, then what about this?
Elizabeth: Yeah, Jason taught me how to use one of those --
Sam: Fine, you take this, I will take the shotgun.
Elizabeth: Um, you're going to have to tell me again. Just remind me --
Sam: Okay. Okay, this -- this here -- this is the safety. Make sure it stays off, because the gun is loaded. Do not point it at anybody unless you're prepared to use it and look, if you give somebody, like, a second to think about it, they're going to start playing mind games with you, so just keep reminding yourself it's either you or them. That's it.
Elizabeth: Okay.
Sam: Okay?
Elizabeth: How many guys do you think are out there?
Sam: I don't know. I only saw one.
Elizabeth: Do you think he saw you?
Sam: Yes, he saw us. He followed us here, Elizabeth. Yeah.
Elizabeth: When are they going to come after us?
Sam: I don't know. They're probably making sure that we're alone right now.
Elizabeth: Wasn't Lucky going to come up here after work and check on us?
Sam: We just need to focus on us right now, and right now we're alone. They're probably not going to assume that we have guns, that we're armed, so it's actually working in our favor. Elizabeth, you just need to stay calm, okay?
Elizabeth: Okay. I'm going to go check on the boys.
Sam: Good idea.
[Jake babbles]
Elizabeth: Sam... look, I know we've had our differences, but will you please promise me that no matter what happens tonight, you'll protect my boys?
Elizabeth: Thank God the boys are asleep. But they're going to wake up if we have to start shooting.
Sam: Yeah, I know, but we have them as safe as we can.
Elizabeth: Cameron is going to be so terrified if he wakes up to gunshots.
Sam: You can't think about that right now. Look, Elizabeth, what you asked me to promise before? Letting that woman walk away with Jake in the park is probably the worst thing that I've ever done and I don't expect you to ever forgive me for that. But I promise you I will not let anything happen to either one of those boys. I will lay down my life for them.
Elizabeth: But it's not going to come to that, right?
Elizabeth: This is all happening because of Jason. He warned me to stay away from him. Everyone warned me to stay away from him and I wouldn't listen. And because I wouldn't listen, now my boys are in danger and --
[Elizabeth sighs]
Sam: You've got to stop second-guessing yourself, okay? All we need to focus on right now is keeping those boys safe. So you need to take a deep breath and just let the adrenaline kick in.
Sam: You've gone through hell to keep those kids safe. You're strong enough to get through this.
Kate: How difficult is it to make a drinkable cup of coffee?
Maxie: I would be glad to make you another cup.
Kate: Right, which is not the same as making it right the first time. Maxie, do you not think for a moment that I believe Olivia made a single choice in this issue? I know that you took over. The theme is off topic. The message is diffused. The styles are way too erratic. You know, I do, I want some coffee.
Maxie: Kate, I get that you're upset. But I just got out of the hospital and I'm here doing the best that I can. And I think I did an okay job running things while you were gone, even though Clarice tried to undercut me every step of the way. I am really sorry that you and Sonny aren't together anymore. I think it's very unproductive of you to take it out on me.
Kate: I would appreciate it, Maxie, if you spent a little less time on my personal life and a little more on being first assistant.
[Doorbell rings]
[Door opens]
Maxie: Hi.
Jax: Hi, Maxie. Nice work on the issue. Numbers are way up.
Kate: That will be all, Maxie.
Maxie: Okay.
Jax: See you later.
Maxie: Thanks. Bye.
Jax: You've got some assistant there.
Kate: Uh-huh.
Jax: She turned what could have been a disaster for "Crimson" into the best numbers we've ever seen, especially with the youth demographic --
Kate: You know what? I don't want to talk about the magazine.
Jax: That's fine.
Kate: No, I don't. You know what I want to do? I want to celebrate. I want to celebrate not making the worst mistake of my life.
Jax: I know exactly what you mean.
Carly: You know, I'm not at all surprised that Sonny is marrying Claudia Zacchara. I'm not. I'm a little sad, but not --
Olivia: By that, you mean jealous?
Carly: No.
Olivia: No?
Carly: No. We have children. There's always going to be a connection. Of course, I will always care if he lives or dies. But beyond that, I -- I really want to say that I don't care, but I can't because I do and I don't know why. I can't even explain it, you know? Even when I hate him, I know Sonny better than anybody else and he knows me the same. And if he ever needs me, because eventually he always does, I will be there for him like a big, fat sucker.
Olivia: Some guys just have that effect, I guess.
Carly: Sonny has this hold on me. And because of that hold, it ruins every single relationship I try to have.
Olivia: Well, maybe you don't want the other ones to work out. Maybe you're just looking for an excuse to go back to Sonny.
Carly: No. Jax was the perfect man for me. And I hurt him so badly, I have no idea what he's going to do.
Claudia: You know, it's ironic. I spent all these years swearing that I would never get married, and here I am, getting married to help out the family that taught me to avoid marriage.
Sonny: I still don't know what you're getting out of it.
Claudia: What, you mean besides you as my husband and the honor of being the third Mrs. Sonny Corinthos?
Sonny: Yeah, that's what I mean.
Claudia: My father needs me for the first time in my life, and that feels good.
Sonny: You do understand that I call every shot... for your father, for you, even for your brother?
Claudia: That's fine. John's not ready to take over. Just don't try to cut him out.
Sonny: We'll see what we can, you know, we can do with him. I mean, it depends on where he's at and all that.
Claudia: Okay, that sounds fair.
Sonny: And just so we're clear, everything that happened last spring with Michael disappearing -- you know, I blamed your family and Johnny and I punished Johnny. I feel bad about that. It was my mistake.
Claudia: Yes, it was. John and I would never be involved in anything that had anything to do with hurting a child.
Sonny: I don't hold your -- you know, your family responsible. I don't hold a grudge against Johnny or against you.
Jax: So, what are we drinking to?
Kate: Ah, mistakes. And the promise to do better next time.
Jax: You know, Sonny's doing you a favor.
[Kate chuckles]
Jax: He deserves Claudia. You're better off without him. You know that.
Kate: Right. Well, I guess I could say the same for you, right? You're finally free.
Jax: I guess you can say that. To freedom, then.
Kate: To freedom.
Olivia: Cards on the table. All things being equal, if you had to pick between Sonny and Jax, which one would you pick? Not the one you think you should pick. The one who's in your heart.
Carly: Jax. For a long time, I would have said Sonny. And even though I can't stay away from him, he's not in my heart the way Jax is. But I'm really good at trashing what's good in my life. That's my specialty.
Olivia: You know what? Don't give up. Because sometimes these things have a way of working out when you least expect it to.
Carly: No, this won't. It's not going to happen. Cards on the table.
Olivia: Right. Right here.
Carly: How much did Sonny matter to you back in the day?
Olivia: A lot. More than I ever let anybody know.
Carly: How much does he matter to you now?
Claudia: To a respectful and successful arrangement.
Sonny: I'll drink to that.
Claudia: So, I assume we're going to be living here in the fortress?
Sonny: I told the maid you can have any room you want except mine.
Claudia: Probably a good call. I'm kind of a slob.
Sonny: That's not what concerns me.
Claudia: So, you want out already, don't you?
Sonny: Oh, no, no, no. Just the opposite. I want to get married soon.
Claudia: How soon?
Sonny: Tonight.
Alexis: The commissioner believes that he has a strong case against you. He also believes he has all the evidence he needs to tie you to the destruction of the Russian warehouse.
Diane: You cannot hold my client based on what the commissioner thinks or believes.
Alexis: Mac is doing his job and I finally am going to do mine. The violence in Port Charles is so out of hand, we are all becoming numb and immune to it.
Diane: You still can't hold my client without any evidence.
Alexis: He's wearing the same clothes he wore when he blew up the warehouse.
Diane: Oh, yes, by all means, let's take that in front of a judge. Your Honor, we're charging this man because his wardrobe choices indicate criminal intent.
Alexis: Goes to a pattern of behavior.
Diane: So, basically, what you're saying is, you have no evidence, so you're going to rely on speculation.
Alexis: You know what? You're right, Diane. I should just continue to make allowances for him, really, because he is, after all, the "good mobster" after all the bad guys in Port Charles. He is the good bad guy, so we'll just let him off the hook, right? Wrong. We are done. As of now, my job is to prosecute criminals, not protect them. And I'm going to hold him here until I get enough evidence against him.
Diane: Which means that you will be the one breaking the law.
Alexis: I will find the evidence against him, don't worry. In fact, I will make it my personal job to see you are tried and convicted, Jason. Enough is enough. You have caused so much pain and suffering in this city. It's time for you to pay.
Elizabeth: How can you be so calm? I'm about to come out of my skin.
Sam: You're calm in the operating room, right? Or when someone comes crashing into the E.R.?
Elizabeth: That's completely different.
Sam: No, you know what you're doing there; I know what I'm doing here.
Elizabeth: But aren't you scared?
Sam: A little bit, yeah. I mean, definitely. But, you know, I kind of feel lit up inside. I can hear better, I can see better, my reflexes are sharper. If somebody is ready to fight me, I'm definitely ready to fight back.
Elizabeth: I wish I could be that confident.
Sam: It's survival, not confidence. If you've got to kill to protect your children, you will. You'll do whatever you have to do.
Elizabeth: How long do you think this is going to take?
Sam: I have no idea.
Elizabeth: The longer we wait, the better the chance Jason or lucky will come get us, right? Because they're going to call and get a busy signal and they're going to know something's wrong, right?
Sam: Yeah, it's possible. Hang on, stay still.
Sam: Okay, I don't see anything.
Elizabeth: Maybe they're gone. Maybe they gave up or they got called away or they decided we're not a threat anymore.
