Olivia: Why are we even talking about Sonny? Either we've had way too much to drink or not enough.

Carly: That's not fair. You asked me who I would choose, Sonny or Jax, and I told you --

Olivia: What kind of name is Jax?

Carly: Oh, my God. Really? Answer the question. You and Sonny had a past. How do you feel about him now?

Olivia: What difference does it make?

Carly: Well, there's my answer.

image

Claudia: You want to get married tonight?

Sonny: Yeah. It's a business deal, not a romance.

Claudia: You could make it sound a little less like a root canal. Make a girl feel a little better about herself.

Sonny: So why are you stalling? You don't want to do it?

Claudia: You didn't. In fact, you swore that it would never happen. And now, apparently, it can't happen soon enough?

Sonny: Well, yeah, I did everything to avoid it. But circumstances dictate, so if we're going to get married, we might as well do it. Unless you want to back out.

image

Alexis: I fully intend to tie you to the explosions at the warehouse on Water Street for the slayings of the two Russian nationals.

Diane: I realize that you are angry and that you are frustrated, and --

Alexis: I am doing my job as D.A., and it's about time that I started doing it. It's my responsibility.

Diane: Which, apparently, is very selective because I don't recall you being nearly this vehement about building a case against Jerry Jacks. In fact, I don't recall you making any effort whatsoever to fulfill your professional responsibility where he was concerned.

Alexis: That is an entirely different subject.

Diane: It is not, Alexis. Jerry Jacks pulled one over on you and now you are trying to redeem yourself in the public's and possibly your own eyes at the expense of my client. That is not justice, that is hypocrisy.

image

Sam: Okay, I don't see anything.

Elizabeth: Maybe they're gone. Maybe they gave up or they got called away or they decided we're not a threat anymore.

[Gunshot and breaking glass]

Elizabeth: Oh, my God. My boys.

Sam: Don't move.

Elizabeth: I've got to go.

Sam: Elizabeth.

[Gunshot]

Claudia: I'm not backing out. But when you don't believe in love and you don't need the money, you don't think about marriage. And here I am engaged. You dragged your feet about this for weeks, and now you just want to snap your fingers and be husband and wife just like that?

Sonny: No, I want to close the deal. Karpov syndicate is raising hell, and I need your family to shove them back into the hole they crawled out of. Your father's organization has strategic holdings and firepower. And it would be double what they have now if you guys didn't fight all the time.

Claudia: Oh, you mean as compared to the love fest that you have going on with Jason Morgan?

Sonny: You know, I can turn your family's name into something that commands respect and fear. You'll be in a position so your brother will be protected at all times from your father, from anyone. All I've got to do is convince Anthony that I'm serious and then we're all going to get what we want.

Claudia: I'm impressed. Your reputation isn't just talk.

Sonny: How about you?

Claudia: I have to go home. Change into something a little more bridal, and I'll be right back. Bye, honey.

image

Coleman: Uno, dos. Hey, if you beautiful girls decide you've had too much, I've got a sweet little room in the back where we can all sleep it off.

Carly: How many times have I told you no?

Coleman: Yeah, but you've only got to say once, yes. Hey, that goes for you, too, Bensonhurst. What are you laughing about?

Olivia: Name's Olivia. And I'm not that drunk, yet.

Carly: Oh, that's okay. Coleman knows better than to take advantage. He knows that would make Jason very unhappy.

Coleman: Oh, what, so I should consider Olivia here under Jason's watchful eye?

Carly: Absolutely. Any friend of mine is a friend of Jason's. And you know how he feels about you hitting on me.

Coleman: The cat has no sense of romance. But I'm not giving up hope. On either of you.

Olivia: Interesting.

Carly: Coleman?

Olivia: He's hot. A living, breathing mistake of the type I have made many, many times.

Carly: God, we all have regrets, don't we?

Olivia: Who says I regret it? Anyway, my point is, you're married to Jax, hung up on Sonny, and then Jason's the name you throw down with. What's up with that?

Carly: Jason? Well, Jason's my best friend. He used to be friends with Sonny, too. If they ever could have fixed it, they can't if he marries Claudia.

Olivia: What a piece of work.

Carly: I don't know which is worse -- Sonny marrying Claudia or Sonny marrying Kate. I mean, if Sonny marries Claudia, at least he knows what he's getting himself into, right? He can put his guards up. But if he married Kate -- I mean, are you kidding me? He actually fooled himself into believing he was in love with her.

Olivia: Well, I think -- I think he loved Connie, the girl that he knew back in high school. You know, back when life was a big chocolate cake.

[Carly laughs]

Olivia: Well --

Carly: But now she's Kate Howard. She's a snob. She's a fake. She's a phony.

Olivia: Yeah, okay, she can be all those things. I tell you what she's not, she's not a pushover. Make no mistake, Connie's pissed that she lost out here. And if you are on her spit list, you better watch your back.

image

Kate: Okay, so we just shared our second kiss. And, you know, unlike the first one, I'm not going to -- I'm not going to rack myself with guilt over it. No, in fact, after all these intense months of being business partners, it's like -- I don't know -- seeing you for the first time, right? Kind of took my breath away.

Jax: Is this sudden appreciation because of my irresistible charm, or because you want to get even with Carly?

Kate: What if it's a little of both?

Jax: That would be okay with me.

image

Diane: You have arrested and have detained my client without one shred of evidence.

Alexis: I can hold him 48 hours without charging him.

Diane: And why is that? Because you can?

Alexis: I've been Jason's attorney, too. So regardless of how we feel about him personally, he has committed crime after crime --

Diane: Very, very careful, Alexis.

Alexis: And he has not paid the price.

Diane: You are dangerously close to a breach of ethics.

Alexis: It is time, Diane, that the law won.

Diane: You mean it's time you won.

Spinelli: Gracious greetings to the two ladies of law and order.

Alexis: Sorry, Spinelli, he's not allowed visitors.

Diane: Now you're just being petty.

Spinelli: I can provide Stone Cold with an alibi.

Alexis: I'm sure you can. You'll lie for him. Carly will lie for him. You'll lie for him. Everybody's going to lie for him.

Diane: Any different than those who lie to themselves?

Alexis: Thanks. Five minutes and be my guest coming up with a plausible explanation for why he's dressed like a commando.

Spinelli: Deepest apologies. Had I not delayed you with my ill-timed confession, you could have changed into less incriminating attire. However, I shall redeem myself by providing means --

Jason: No, no, no. I do not want you committing perjury to get me released.

Spinelli: Stone Cold can rest at ease. You shall soon be a man of freedom. I have it all under control.

[Gunshot and glass shattering]

Sam: Don't move.

Elizabeth: Why?

Sam: Because we want them to think that we're dead.

Elizabeth: Won't they come inside and check?

Sam: I hope so.

Elizabeth: So we let them think we're dead, they come in, and then what?

Cameron's voice: Mommy!

Sam: No, no, no. Shh. Don't call out. Don't say a word.

Elizabeth: He needs me.

Sam: The boys also need to get out of here with their mother. The Russians followed us from the house. They know the boys are here.

Sam: Here. Stay close. This ain't over. Not by a long shot.

image

Spinelli: Master's release is at hand. I am a puppet master.

Jason: Okay, listen to me. If you're doing this to make up for going after the Russians --

Spinelli: Okay, yes, I regret going against the master's wishes.

Jason: I know you want them to pay for what they did to Maxie.

Spinelli: No, no, but see, I am just as much to blame. I put fair Maximista in danger because I walked the stone cold way. Maximista's noble and understandably distressed head of household forced me to face that dread realization.

Jason: Mac told you to stay away from Maxie?

Spinelli: Yeah, see, I know your secret pain. I am a fellow lone wolf.

Jason: Just don't get yourself in trouble for my sake, okay?

Spinelli: Rest at ease. I know my place in the stone cold world and because of that, I have reverted back to what I know -- cyberspace.

Jason: What does that mean?

Spinelli: Behold my potent prowess. That scowling man of maturity hails from Interpol. I jackaled into agency communications and created an "official" version of the recent warehouse explosions and fatal shootings.

Jason: You did what?

Spinelli: Interpol now suspects they are the acts of a rival Slavic gang of ruthless gun runners. As we speak, all evidence related to the case is being seized. Without evidence, D.A. Davis has no cause to hold you.

image

Kate: Man, I used to pride myself on knowing what I wanted and weighing the costs of getting it.

Jax: Yeah, I used to know when to quit.

Kate: Hmm, like you should have with Carly?

Jax: You blame Carly because you can't bring yourself to blame Sonny, who is really at fault.

Kate: Let's just say I used to know when to quit, too.

Jax: Only took, what, two bullets to convince you?

[Doorbell rings]

Kate: Ha ha ha. It's not funny, Jax.

Kate: I -- I don't think we have anything --

Sonny: I have something to tell you.

Sonny: In private.

Kate: No. Actually, you can say whatever you have to say in front of Jax or not at all.

Sonny: Okay, listen, I'm not going to -- whatever. You know, I don't want to get into what I need to get into. Okay, I'm just going to tell you. I am marrying Claudia Zacchara tonight.

Kate: Yeah, Olivia told me.

Sonny: Right.

Kate: I didn't know it was happening this soon.

Sonny: You know I don't love Claudia. You know I love you.

Kate: You love me?

Sonny: Right.

Kate: You love me, Sonny? We obviously have a different definition for the word. So you said what you came to say. You've eased your guilty conscience, so you can just go now. Sony: Look, this is uncomfortable for me, okay? But I know what you're doing, and you're doing because you're hurt. I'm just telling you, don't do anything stupid.

Kate: I've already done that.

Jax: Well done.

image

Carly: Michael's shooting changed Sonny.

Olivia: You'd think.

Carly: It changed all of us. You have any kids?

Olivia: A son.

Carly: Yeah. Imagine seeing him shot, fighting for his life, and then slipping into a coma. First, you just look for anyone to blame. Then you blame yourself. And that's what Sonny did. He turned his back on the ugly truth and started living some fantasy.

Olivia: Right, like getting out of the mob and making a life with Connie.

Carly: You know, just living a lie.

Olivia: God, that man is just making one bad choice after another. I tell you, I mean, my cousin, she can be shallow and a pain in the neck, but she's no black widow whack-job like Claudia Zacchara.

Carly: Someone should talk to him.

Olivia: Someone already tried.

Carly: Someone should try again.

Olivia: All right. What do I have here? How about this -- heads, you go talk to Sonny. Tails, I'll do it.

Carly: Okay, you got it. I like this game.

image

Elizabeth: Why are we just sitting here?

Sam: We're buying time.

Elizabeth: We're just going to wait for them to come get us?

Sam: Wait, sit, sit.

Elizabeth: What are you doing?

Sam: I am protecting your children. As hard as it may be, given our past and everything, I know. You've just got to trust me. You've got to do what I say, okay? I've been counting bullets, and we're really low on ammunition. We don't have any to waste, and the longer it takes for them to make their next move outside, the better chance we have of Jason or Lucky coming here.

Elizabeth: How do you do this?

Sam: I don't know. I just do. You know, it's nothing I choose. My father, he always operated on the edge of the law and having a little girl really came in handy. He used me for all his cons. It's probably the only reason why he kept me around.

Elizabeth: That's so sad.

Sam: I know, but, you know, it was what it was. What was I going to do? I can remember one time we moved into a new town because an insurance scam went bad, and we get a knock on the door and I open it up, and it's my dad's mark standing there. And he had a tire iron in his hand. And sure enough, I mean, he showed up the intention of putting my old man out for good. But the point of this story is it was the first time that I had ever pointed a gun at someone, and I was eight.

Elizabeth: And you shot him?

Sam: Well, I shot at his feet. It's the only thing I knew. It's what I saw in the old western cowboy movies. But I didn't have good aim because I blew his big toe off.

Cameron's voice: Mommy?

Elizabeth: I have to go to him.

Sam: Okay. Elizabeth, I will -- I swear to you, I will give my life to protect your children, okay?

image

Jason: We're in a different world now, Spinelli. After 9/11, agencies like Interpol are tracking information a lot more closely.

Spinelli: Okay, just as the street-smart Stone Cold has his finesse with firearms, so the Jackal runs like a silent river under the radar in the world of technology. I left no trace of my intrusion. I made clear study of Interpol policy. See, their investigation takes precedence regardless of rights of jurisdiction. Observe.

Spinelli: Your release is imminent.

Jason: You really need to be careful.

Spinelli: Look, I just -- I just hope to restore my credibility.

Diane: Your alibi won't be necessary, Mr. Grasshopper. Mr. Karpov and his gang have their fair share of enemies, and it seems a rival drug cartel is now suspected of blowing up the warehouse on Water Street. Interpol is taking over the case, and they are taking with them all the collected evidence. Which means --

Alexis: You're free to go.
