Patrick: Hey. Is Emma asleep?
Robin: Hey.
Patrick: Hey, baby, what's wrong?
Robin: I don't know. I was just trying to clean up the house and possibly change my clothes before you got home.
Patrick: You look fine.
Robin: Yeah, but I smell like baby spit-up or, I don't know, maybe it's sour milk.
Patrick: I'm all right with that. Right now I just want to hold you. I've had a day from hell.
Robin: Well, mine was no picnic either.
Patrick: 12-year-old boy presented with signs of meningitis. A cranial CT scan showed there was a brain abscess. We went in to relieve the pressure, but there was complications. What should have been a quick in-and-out turned into 10 hours under the knife.
Robin: Wow. Okay, you win. How's the boy?
Patrick: Stable. I'm hopeful. How are you?
Robin: Well, someone forgot to tell our daughter that she can feed every four hours, not every two. I think I'm going to ask the doctor about soy milk. Oh, and my Uncle Mac called. He bought a turkey big enough to feed an entire army apparently.
Patrick: I hate turkey.
Robin: I know, but my mom's in town. You know, it's Emma's first Thanksgiving. Maybe we could just drop Emma off over there and then just sleep all day.
Patrick: Now that sounds like a plan.
Robin: What do you like to do for Thanksgiving?
Patrick: Get out of town. Go away for a couple of weeks, little vacation. Usually somewhere tropical.
Robin: Wow. Now you're stuck with babies in diapers rather than babes in bikinis. Wait a minute. I met you in December, and you certainly weren't any place tropical.
Patrick: True. You should have knocked, actually.
Robin: Really? Well, how was I supposed to know that you would be naked with a nurse on the other side of the door? You know, sometimes it's crazy to think that just one decision can change your entire life. Like if you turn left, then one thing will happen. I don't know. I know there's a name for it. I just can't think of it right now.
Patrick: It's the butterfly effect.
Robin: I'm in love with a really smart man.
Patrick: Yes, you are. They say when a -- lay down.
Robin: Oh, good. Okay.
Patrick: They say when a butterfly flaps its wings in China, it changes the weather in New York. Some people call it fate, that destiny is inevitable. If you're meant to love someone, you will love them, no matter when or how you met.
Robin: Hi.
[Energetic greetings]
Robin: I'm glad to see you guys.
Kelly: Comment allez-vous? That's all the French I know.
Robin: Presents.
Epiphany: How was Paris?
Robin: Tres bien, as always.
Kelly: Are you thinking of moving back there? Because if we have to start looking for a new roomie, I don't know what --
Lainey: Kelly, Kelly, she just got off the plane. Welcome back. You look wonderful.
Kelly: Yeah, what did you bring us?
Robin: Oh, okay. Perfume, as requested. Some silk scarves. Oh, and I found that lavender soap that you love so much, Epiphany.
Epiphany: Oh, well, it's nice that you thought about us, but if I ever get a chance to go to Paris, I'm not giving this place a second thought.
Robin: Well, thank you very much. Okay, so, what's going on? Anything I should know about?
Kelly: A new colleague, a neurosurgeon.
Lainey: Patrick Drake. He's made a big impression.
Kelly: Yeah, he's smokin' hot.
Epiphany: He thinks he's God's gift to nurses everywhere.
Lainey: Prepare to be hit on. He's such a dog.
Kelly: Did I mention he's hot?
[Shower running]
[Woman giggling]
Leyla: Oh, Doctor.
Robin: Leyla? Are you kidding me?
Patrick: We're a little busy in here.
Robin: Oh, you must be Dr. Drake.
Robin: It's too risky.
Patrick: That's what separates the men from the wusses, Dr. Scorpio. You have to have the stomach for the hard cases.
Robin: No, you have to give the patient the best chance of survival.
Patrick: What are you so afraid of?
Robin: That my patient will die because you need to be right.
Patrick: Okay, first of all, "A," it's not your patient. B, I'm willing to take that chance.
Robin: I see. Okay, well, Jennifer Moore is a single mother. She has three children, which is something you probably didn't even stop to bother to think about, because all that matters is that you're in the medical journals.
Patrick: So, your idea of treatment is no treatment at all?
Robin: No, my idea is to relieve the pressure, let the anti-seizure medicine work, and tell Jennifer that she could possibly see her kids again.
Patrick: I don't have time for this.
Robin: Of course you don't, because you have people to see and nurses to do.
Patrick: Speaking of that, when was the last time you got laid, Dr. Scorpio? Really, that long, huh? Well, I highly recommend it. Let me know if you need help with that.
Epiphany: I see that you two have become fast friends.
Robin: No. I will not let that jerk get to me.
Patrick: Hey, give me a beer, please.
Coleman: You got it. I haven't seen you before.
Patrick: I moved to Port Charles about a month ago. I work at the hospital.
Coleman: Doctor?
Patrick: Yeah, don't hold it against me.
Coleman: As long as you pay your tab, I don't care whose appendix you remove.
Patrick: I'm a neurosurgeon. Patrick Drake.
Coleman: Coleman. It's just Coleman. Sort of like Elvis or Fabio.
Patrick: Or Cher.
Coleman: So, what do you -- what do you think of our fair city?
Patrick: Well, so far so good. Except last night I was woken up by a car backfiring or it could have been gunfire. I'm not quite sure yet.
Coleman: You'll get used to it, man. But you're safe here. We have a -- we got a high quality clientele here.
Patrick: More importantly, you got women?
Coleman: Dude, are you kidding? This place gets more tail than Tom Jones.
Patrick: That's what I'm talking about. Listen, Robin Scorpio, she's not -- she's not a customer of yours is she?
Coleman: Little doc? Oh, man. She's the queen of the tequila shooters. In fact, I thought she was in France.
Patrick: Yeah, well, she's back and a pain in my ass. She's pushy, obnoxious. She's overly emotional. And that's just my first impression.
Coleman: You got to love her, man.
Patrick: No thanks.
Coleman: So, what made you pick Port Charles?
Patrick: My father used to work here.
Coleman: Well, he's got to be pleased you're following in his footsteps, huh?
Patrick: Wouldn't know.
Coleman: Families can be complicated.
Patrick: Not for me. I like living on my own, being by myself. No strings, no demands. The best thing my father ever did was make me an only child.
Matt: Excuse me. I have an appointment with the chief of staff.
Leyla: And your name?
Matt: Matt Hunter.
Leyla: Are you a patient, Mr. Hunter?
Matt: No, a doctor.
Leyla: Oh, sorry, I didn't realize you worked here.
Matt: I don't. Not yet, anyway.
Robin: Any self-respecting woman would avoid that loser.
Kelly: You have to admit, he's awfully cute.
Robin: Whatever. He's a dog, and he's an egomaniac.
Kelly: We're going for a drink. You need one badly.
Lainey: Yeah.
Robin: What I don't get is why anyone would be into him. And don't get me started with Leyla. I can't believe that she doesn't respect herself more than that.
Lainey: Oh, stop. That's not true.
Robin: Are you serious?
Kelly: No, I'm serious.
Robin: Please. But really, look at her, okay? She's beautiful, she's smart. What does she want with Patrick Drake?
Kelly: Okay, obsessing a little?
Lainey: It's possible you're overreacting.
Robin: No, he treats women the same way he treats his patients. Like another notch on his stethoscope. It's disgusting.
Lainey: Another relaxing evening trashing men.
Robin: Just one man.
Leyla: Okay, Dr. Quartermaine will see you now, Dr. Hunter.
Matt: All right.
Robin: I mean, I would bet my subscription to "Women's Health" that he's being a jerk intentionally just to get... oh, come on.
Kelly: Maybe you're too hard on him.
Robin: What? Am I crazy?
Lainey: No, Kelly's right. You've judged the man before you even know him.
Robin: I know him.
Coleman: Hello there, ladies.
Kelly: Hey.
Coleman: Hey.
Lainey: Hi.
Kelly: The usual.
Robin: Yes, all around, please. So, Coleman, is Dr. Drake over there talking about himself?
Coleman: Well, actually, he was talking about you.
Robin: Yeah, right.
Lainey: You may have misread him.
Robin: Well, if you two want him to come over here and join us, then I'll behave.
Coleman: Okay, well, I'll let him know.
Patrick: So?
Carly: So.
Patrick: Lag for the break?
Carly: What are the stakes?
Patrick: Whatever you want.
Elizabeth: What is going on?
Robin: Nothing.
Patrick: She is pissed because I'm right and she is wrong, and everybody knows that Dr. Scorpio doesn't like to admit when she's wrong.
Robin: Wait, hold on. How long have you been at this hospital? Two months? God, it feels like forever.
Patrick: The good news is, nurse, the patient is alive. I don't expect praise, but it would be nice if she acknowledged that I know what I'm doing.
Robin: Alan, how is anyone supposed to work with Dr. Drake?
Alan: You know, his father didn't play well with others, either.
Patrick: Whoa, hey. I am not my father.
Robin: Well, I for one can't.
Alan: You know, if you two have a professional disagreement, you need to take it front of a review panel.
Patrick: Oh, no, this isn't professional. This one over here, she hates my guts.
Alan: Robin, is that true?
Robin: No, that is not true. When he -- every time -- am I right?
Elizabeth: Oh, no, you don't. I'm out of here.
Alan: Okay, listen, Robin. We need to all get along here. That is you, Dr. Drake, Dr. Hunter. Unless, of course, you changed your mind about signing on, now that you've seen what we have to work with.
Matt: That's all right. I'm familiar with the dynamic.
Patrick: What's going on?
Alan: Oh, Matt Hunter, he's the new neurosurgeon we said we were bringing on.
Patrick: Why wasn't I consulted about this?
Robin: Because you don't run the place, despite what you think.
Alan: When you joined us, I told you we were having another new doctor come in.
Robin: Robin Scorpio. Nice to meet you. Dr. Hunter, welcome to General Hospital.
Matt: Thank you.
Alan: Will you excuse me?
Matt: I read your paper on immunodeficiency and neurological disorders. I found it very useful.
Patrick: It's flawed.
Robin: So are you.
Matt: Is this a bad time?
Patrick: Nothing personal, Hunter. I just like to know the people in my department. That's all.
Matt: Yeah? You have no idea who I am, do you?
Patrick: I can't believe he's my brother. I mean, I always knew my father was a self-absorbed drunk, but now I find out he cheated on my mother, had a kid that he left on the other side of the country, Dr. Matt, whatever.
Carly: Have you talked your dad?
Patrick: I don't talk to him about anything. You know, he's probably at some place drying out. Which is just as well. Sorry, I didn't mean to unload all this crap on you.
Carly: It's okay. My dad didn't acknowledge me until I was an adult. My mother gave me up for adoption, and I turned out just fine. You can ask anyone, you know. I'm a terrific friend.
Patrick: Well, which is exactly what I need right now.
Carly: You have every right to feel hurt.
Patrick: I was always told that I was commitment-phobic, and at least now I come about it naturally. I guess it's in my genes.
Carly: Okay, let's not talk about your dad anymore, because he's a lost cause. What about you? How do you feel finding out that you have a brother you never knew about?
Patrick: I have no idea what I think about that right now.
Robin: You know, I would hate the hospital to lose a good doctor because of Patrick Drake.
Matt: Well, how well do you know my brother?
Robin: Well enough to know that I don't like him.
Matt: Well, you strike me as a woman of good taste and judgment.
Robin: And you strike me as someone that got a raw deal. I mean, Noah is the one that lied, so if Patrick should be mad at anyone, it should be him.
Matt: Yeah, well, if Patrick doesn't want to give this whole brother thing a shot, my life doesn't change a bit.
Robin: Yeah, the lower your expectations are where Patrick is concerned, the less you'll be disappointed.
Matt: Well, I appreciate the reality check. Listen, I was thinking I'd like to take you out some time for dinner. I don't want you to think -- I'm not -- you know.
Robin: No, I don't think you're anything like your brother. It's just that, I don't know, my life is complicated.
Elizabeth: May I help you, Doctor?
Patrick: Are you seeing anyone, Nurse?
Elizabeth: No, but you are.
Patrick: And what if I wasn't?
Elizabeth: But you are. End of story.
Patrick: Yeah, but we could write a new chapter. Have you seen the Kim Waters file?
Elizabeth: Ask him.
Matt: Is something wrong?
Patrick: Yeah, I need my file back.
Matt: Waters? She had a bad reaction to the medication you prescribed, and you were nowhere to be found.
Patrick: Okay, well, then find me next time.
Matt: All I did was make an adjustment to the --
Patrick: Matt, I don't want excuses. If you have something to prove, prove it somewhere else.
Robin: Oh, would you back off?
Matt: No, that's okay. I'm fine.
Robin: Why do you have to be such a bully?
Patrick: Nice. This has nothing to do with you, Dr. Scorpio. This is between me and Dr. Hunter.
Robin: Actually, it's between you and your father.
Patrick: Don't. Don't even go there.
Robin: Listen, if you don't like my work, why don't you take it up with Dr. Quartermaine?
Patrick: Sounds like a great idea.
Matt: You're welcome. And thank you. You didn't have to do that, but it's appreciated.
Robin: I just -- I don't like the way he treats you. If he wasn't a brilliant doctor, I would report him to Dr. Quartermaine myself. As of now, he's a brilliant doctor, alone and miserable, which is what he deserves. So, is that offer to take me out to dinner still on the table?
Robin: So, you've never been here before?
Matt: No. No, I've been looking for someplace else. Not that there's anything wrong with Jake's.
Robin: Yeah, it definitely serves its purpose. Well, a friend of mine is the owner here. He's out of town, but they have strict orders to treat me like a VIP.
Matt: So, what you are telling me is that I came here with the right girl.
[Carly laughs]
Robin: Oh, there goes the neighborhood. Matt, do you want to go someplace else?
Matt: Not unless you do. I mean, why should Patrick have the lock on the best restaurant in the town, right?
Carly: What's this?
Patrick: Two tickets to the Pocono 500 for the weekend after next. I was thinking we could leave on Saturday, come back Monday, fit in a little NASCAR in between the romance and all the hot sex, of course.
Carly: You know, I can't.
Patrick: Well, I thought it would be enough time to try and get a sitter.
Carly: It is. I just really shouldn't.
Patrick: Well, they have a spa there, Carly, and I know you love facials and massages and all that fancy stuff.
Carly: I really like you. I do. I -- I just don't think we should see each other anymore.
Robin: Something's going on over there.
Matt: So, right, what's good here?
Robin: Do you see the look on Patrick's face?
Matt: How about a steak? I kind of feel like a steak. That sounds good.
Robin: He's squirming. He is actually squirming. I wonder what she's saying.
Matt: Yeah, maybe I'll just go with the eye of newt or the toe of frog.
Robin: Yeah, that sounds good.
Matt: Yeah, does it?
Patrick: Well, I -- I thought we agreed to just keep things uncomplicated.
Carly: Yeah, well, you know, sometimes life doesn't work that way. I have kids. Uncomplicated is not in my future.
Patrick: You're dumping me.
Carly: I like you. I do. I mean, we've had a great time.
Patrick: Yeah, but I never get dumped.
Robin: Oh, my God. He's getting dumped.
Matt: Look, Robin, may -- do you want to go somewhere else?
Robin: No, no, no, no. This is too delicious. Okay, listen, Carly is one of the most ridiculous people that I know. I mean, she's literally a walking train wreck. So, if she's dumping him, well, whew. That says a lot about him.
Matt: Okay, Robin, look --
Robin: Wait, wait, wait. There she goes. Hold on.
Carly: Maybe we can be friends.
Robin: Order me the salmon. I'll be right back. It sucks getting dumped, doesn't it?
Patrick: Are you old enough to be in here?
Robin: Carly can't say no to any guy. So, the fact that she said no to you --
Patrick: This is your business, why?
Robin: I mean, it was inevitable that you would end up alone.
Patrick: That's very sweet of you to care, Dr. Scorpio.
Robin: I don't, really.
Patrick: You know, maybe this would be a perfect night to take me up on that offer I made you. You know, the one about me helping you out with all that pent-up stress, and you'd be eternally grateful to me.
Robin: Thanks, but no thanks. I'm here with someone.
Patrick: Oh, is that right?
Robin: Mm-hmm.
Patrick: Now who's alone?
